Well Christmas is around the corner, an there's one thing on my mind: the PS3.

Ever since it came out, I wanted to get it. Problem was, it was REALLY pricey. Try $600 for one system. Yes, that's ridculous. And then you have to buy accessories and games...it's just too much.

But now the price dropped a lot. If you got a typical 40GB one, it's $250. That's less than half the price!!!

But here's the thing, my dad wants to get a really nice laptop, which laptops like that cost around $500.

I'm going to convince him to buy the PS3 instead of a laptop.

Before any 360 fanboys come out of nowhere and start trolling, I do have a 360 but I believe the PS3 is better and reasons to prove it.

First off, PS3 has better games. Games like Uncharted, Little Big Planet, Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone, inFAMOUS, MAG, Lair, Resistance, some collections like The Sly Cooper Collection or the God of War Collection, etc. Those are just what I can think of. And then we go to 360, Halo...and Gears of War. Yes, those are the only two games there that are awesome. Don't get me wrong, the 360 had awesome games like Bioshock and Mass Effect, but those guys went from exclusive to multi-platform. So those don't count. The exclusive games for PS3 are just worth it. Games like Little Big Planet and the Sly Cooper Collection is just addicting, while others like Killzone and Metal Gear Solid 4 show some of the best graphics I ever seen, and games like MAG and Resistance push the PS3's capcitiy farther than Xbox or Wii combined.

While 360 has it's game on, PS3 gets it's game on, the Internet on, music on, YouTube on, and pretty much everything on. Unlike the 360, the PS3 does contain Internet access. It has contains bulit in Wifi, so you don't need cables, unless lag occurs. The 360 hasn't implanted any Wifi until our newest 360, the 250GB Slim!!! It took 5 years for that!?! Moving along, the Internet speed is pretty decent, as far as I seen. Certain sites you can download music, backgrounds and YouTube videos...straight from your PS3. The 360, however, needs a CD and then can rip the stream from a computer. But are you really going to go through all that trouble, just to get all that stuff? I hope not. And actually, you don't have to download YouTube videos just to view it, you can just watch it straight from the video! The iPhone can view videos from websites or just the YouTube app itself, but take forever to load. The PSP can't actually view videos from websites and must be downloaded. But you need certain sites to do that. But the PS3, just go to YouTube, look up the video, and bam it it's there, ready to watch. Handy for me when I want to watch YouTube videos. And like I said before, you can download music, YouTube videos, pictures and background, and even fun little hacks for a game (note I mean like making heads bigger, not going into a Multiplayer and shoot like 20 million grenades at people >.<)

Some people may think this is cool. You know how you have to pay like 60 bucks a year just to play online on the 360. PS3, guess what it's free! Yep, free. No need to pay. Also, Microsoft is cheap, as they make you pay Microsoft Point just to change your username. I'm not a 100% sure on this, but I think that changing your username on PS3 is free. But don't take my word for it.

PSP is also a great feature to this. Did you know that you can connect the PS3 and PSP together to unlock cool things for certain games. You can also send things from your PS3 to your PSP, like music or pictures. This last part is just completely awesome though. You know games like Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, and Dissidia Final Fantasy that have multiplayer, but you need other people with you in order to do that? Well all you need is a PS3, a Ad-Hoc set up, and presto, you can play with other people global. Awesome I know. Let's look at the 360- oh wait Microsoft didn't make a handheld. Bummer :/

By the way, you got Blu-ray. I think you'll like watching Avatar on the PS3 than the 360 :P

I know there are some things that are wrong with the PS3. This includes being more expensive, having multi-platform games like Call of Duty Black Ops or the orginal Assassin's Creed have lowered graphics than the over versions (trust me, it's true with true two), lag (I heard lag is worse for the PS3 than the 360) ruins the gaming experience unless you have a good connected and/or wired, and it looking dull (idk it doesn't look bright and it seems boring but it's not)

I'm not bashing 360, or saying you need the PS3 more than the 360. Both are equal consoles, but I think you'll get more out of the PS3, than the 360.

Wow, VERY off topic there, sorry o.o

But anyways, I want to convince my dad to get a PS3 rather than a Laptop, since I still get all the benefits of a PC (just not programs but I do have an iPhone and a crappy computer for that). But I'm not sure which PS3 I should get. There are different kinds of PS3s that have a certain amount of GB (giga bites). I don't want to get pricey, since I'm still trying to get a lot less money to prove to my dad he'll be saving money by getting the PS3.

Here are the PS3s:

Regular PS3s:

-40GB: $250*

-60GB: $350****

-80GB: $270

Slim PS3s:

-120GB: $300***

-160GB: $300***

-250GB: $325**

-320GB: $350**

*Try not to get

**Not getting for sure

***I don't know why they are both priced the same. Gamestop is probably tricking me

****Costs so much because it can play PS2 Games, while others can't. Not getting this

If I'm getting a PS3, then I'm just getting these for it

ChargeLink Cable: $10 (hook it up to PS3 and Wireless Controller to charge it AND play at the same time. It can also hook up to a PSP

Bluetooth Headset: $40 (to talk online)

So that's $50 together. But with this, I need to know which PS3 I should get if I add $50. I don't want to go overboard on the money, since I need to try to make the PS3 look like a toy compared to a laptop.

So to all the PS3 owners or wise people here, what kind of PS3 should I get before I regret my option?

True, back then the PS3 costed wayyy too much. That's why I bought the Wii instead. I mean seriously, $600.00 just for a PS3? No way am I buying it. Anywsy, hope you get that PS3 for christmas.

p.s. I think you've just started a console war.

Well now the PS3 is less than half of 600, getting into my price range. Problem is that I need to figure out is the GB size I should get. It's pretty much like playing Price is Right.

I didn't start anything. If I haven't defended the PS3, then raging 360 fanboys with a stick up their ass would be coming in my thread and be like, "NUUUUU 360 IZ BETTUR, DONT GET STOOPID PS3!?!". And honestly, I don't feel like putting up with idiots :/

I mean, the 360 and PS3 are equal, but the PS3 has more benefits. I've tried the PS3 myself, and I completely enjoyed it more than the 360. If people actually played the PS3, then they may like it, rather than have a big 360 fetish.

That being said, I wish they were equal in every way possible. If you remember that Kingdom Hearts 3 for Xbox 360 thread, people automatically flipped on the idea. But what they don't understand is that people who have 360 will never get a chance to play the game theirselves, because of ridculous reasons.

I like the PS3 more than the 360, but there's a time and place where the 360 deserves respect, especially where credit is due. This is obiviously not the place for the 360, but things like that other thread is where 360 needs to be stand up in some way, you know?

I also didn't stick up for the PS3 the entire tine. I told its flaws that it had. Every console has its flaws. It shows that 360 is good enough to compete to the 360 :D

i agree, i prefer PS3s for various reasons.

i hate people saying that 360 is better (and having no reasons) because THEY'RE BOTH GREAT CONSOLES, again, reasons i won't go into right now

but i would go with the 80GB FAT.

slim cost more and bring no new features, you'd be paying extra money to get it.

if you do, message me your PSN

Sony has much better games then Microsoft.

I'd probably wait for a PS4.

Well, I would get a PS3 with the amount of memory needed for what I want.

If you aren't going to have like a shitload of stuff saved on your PS3, the 40 or 80 GB is probably the best one for you.

If you plan to download Youtube videos and stuff, as well as save games, 40 to 80 GBs might be right for you, but I would suggest you go a little bit higher if you want to save videos and music, just in case.

320 GB of course! The extra space will pay for itself!

But remember you will also need to add whatever acessories you want to buy (games, controllers, cables, etc)

But there are a few things you should keep in mind...

Both the Wii, PS3, and 360 are nearing the end of the average console lifespan (three to five years). The sudden drops in the prices for all these consoles may hint that all three developers are planning to release an improved version of the current consoles or a brand new generation of them. A new console may be announced at E3 2011 or another date. Buy it now if you want to but keep this possibility in mind.

Although they may be 2 to three times more expensive than a PS3, a gaming laptop can be the best investment you can make. PCs really are the superior method of gaming right now for various reasons such as Mod support, Steam, and other things I will not get into later. You may want to consider saving up for one but not many people can afford one (including myself) but always keep that possibility in mind.

Id rather get a ps3 since i have it and this best buy guy told me that the ps3 is better than the xbox360.

You dont have to get xbox live or anyone of those. Ps3 online is free

I dont think that you a chargelink cable. I think it will already come with it.

Also, It depends what tv you have. If you have a small tv it might suck or its too small.
