Well Christmas is around the corner, an there's one thing on my mind: the PS3.
Ever since it came out, I wanted to get it. Problem was, it was REALLY pricey. Try $600 for one system. Yes, that's ridculous. And then you have to buy accessories and games...it's just too much.
But now the price dropped a lot. If you got a typical 40GB one, it's $250. That's less than half the price!!!
But here's the thing, my dad wants to get a really nice laptop, which laptops like that cost around $500.
I'm going to convince him to buy the PS3 instead of a laptop.
Before any 360 fanboys come out of nowhere and start trolling, I do have a 360 but I believe the PS3 is better and reasons to prove it.
First off, PS3 has better games. Games like Uncharted, Little Big Planet, Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone, inFAMOUS, MAG, Lair, Resistance, some collections like The Sly Cooper Collection or the God of War Collection, etc. Those are just what I can think of. And then we go to 360, Halo...and Gears of War. Yes, those are the only two games there that are awesome. Don't get me wrong, the 360 had awesome games like Bioshock and Mass Effect, but those guys went from exclusive to multi-platform. So those don't count. The exclusive games for PS3 are just worth it. Games like Little Big Planet and the Sly Cooper Collection is just addicting, while others like Killzone and Metal Gear Solid 4 show some of the best graphics I ever seen, and games like MAG and Resistance push the PS3's capcitiy farther than Xbox or Wii combined.
While 360 has it's game on, PS3 gets it's game on, the Internet on, music on, YouTube on, and pretty much everything on. Unlike the 360, the PS3 does contain Internet access. It has contains bulit in Wifi, so you don't need cables, unless lag occurs. The 360 hasn't implanted any Wifi until our newest 360, the 250GB Slim!!! It took 5 years for that!?! Moving along, the Internet speed is pretty decent, as far as I seen. Certain sites you can download music, backgrounds and YouTube videos...straight from your PS3. The 360, however, needs a CD and then can rip the stream from a computer. But are you really going to go through all that trouble, just to get all that stuff? I hope not. And actually, you don't have to download YouTube videos just to view it, you can just watch it straight from the video! The iPhone can view videos from websites or just the YouTube app itself, but take forever to load. The PSP can't actually view videos from websites and must be downloaded. But you need certain sites to do that. But the PS3, just go to YouTube, look up the video, and bam it it's there, ready to watch. Handy for me when I want to watch YouTube videos. And like I said before, you can download music, YouTube videos, pictures and background, and even fun little hacks for a game (note I mean like making heads bigger, not going into a Multiplayer and shoot like 20 million grenades at people >.<)
Some people may think this is cool. You know how you have to pay like 60 bucks a year just to play online on the 360. PS3, guess what it's free! Yep, free. No need to pay. Also, Microsoft is cheap, as they make you pay Microsoft Point just to change your username. I'm not a 100% sure on this, but I think that changing your username on PS3 is free. But don't take my word for it.
PSP is also a great feature to this. Did you know that you can connect the PS3 and PSP together to unlock cool things for certain games. You can also send things from your PS3 to your PSP, like music or pictures. This last part is just completely awesome though. You know games like Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, and Dissidia Final Fantasy that have multiplayer, but you need other people with you in order to do that? Well all you need is a PS3, a Ad-Hoc set up, and presto, you can play with other people global. Awesome I know. Let's look at the 360- oh wait Microsoft didn't make a handheld. Bummer
By the way, you got Blu-ray. I think you'll like watching Avatar on the PS3 than the 360
I know there are some things that are wrong with the PS3. This includes being more expensive, having multi-platform games like Call of Duty Black Ops or the orginal Assassin's Creed have lowered graphics than the over versions (trust me, it's true with true two), lag (I heard lag is worse for the PS3 than the 360) ruins the gaming experience unless you have a good connected and/or wired, and it looking dull (idk it doesn't look bright and it seems boring but it's not)
I'm not bashing 360, or saying you need the PS3 more than the 360. Both are equal consoles, but I think you'll get more out of the PS3, than the 360.
Wow, VERY off topic there, sorry o.o
But anyways, I want to convince my dad to get a PS3 rather than a Laptop, since I still get all the benefits of a PC (just not programs but I do have an iPhone and a crappy computer for that). But I'm not sure which PS3 I should get. There are different kinds of PS3s that have a certain amount of GB (giga bites). I don't want to get pricey, since I'm still trying to get a lot less money to prove to my dad he'll be saving money by getting the PS3.
Here are the PS3s:
Regular PS3s:
-40GB: $250*
-60GB: $350****
-80GB: $270
Slim PS3s:
-120GB: $300***
-160GB: $300***
-250GB: $325**
-320GB: $350**
*Try not to get
**Not getting for sure
***I don't know why they are both priced the same. Gamestop is probably tricking me
****Costs so much because it can play PS2 Games, while others can't. Not getting this
If I'm getting a PS3, then I'm just getting these for it
ChargeLink Cable: $10 (hook it up to PS3 and Wireless Controller to charge it AND play at the same time. It can also hook up to a PSP
Bluetooth Headset: $40 (to talk online)
So that's $50 together. But with this, I need to know which PS3 I should get if I add $50. I don't want to go overboard on the money, since I need to try to make the PS3 look like a toy compared to a laptop.
So to all the PS3 owners or wise people here, what kind of PS3 should I get before I regret my option?
