DChiuch 5,773 Posted December 4, 2010 According to Silconera, Birth by Sleep has sold "over 500,000 units" in Japan. This is a significant amount, and enough for the game to win the "Gold Prize" from Sony Japan.

Exlon 165 Posted December 4, 2010 Does that mean the case gets the red label now?
DChiuch 5,773 Posted December 4, 2010 Does that mean the case gets the red label now? In Japan, probably. Or whatever their equivalent is.
Sora96 17,256 Posted December 4, 2010 In Australia it would go Platinum. Probably already has.
DChiuch 5,773 Posted December 4, 2010 In Australia it would go Platinum. Probably already has. Games need to sell 400,000 units in Europe/Australia to become Platinum. Very unlikely..

Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II did. (I should know I've got the Platinum versions) But since its on the PSP that is very unlikely.

CardCaptorDeadpool 386 Posted December 4, 2010 Im sure I read that it sold nearly a million in japan already, I'd say that number would eventually be double in America since Americans are just in love with KH Btw dont PAL just need 250 000 units for Platinum/PSP Essentials? Id say its more likely than you think considering PAL regions bought the largest fraction of PSPs and there arent significant alternatives to BBS on it. It seems right but I defo remember seeing ads with a kid on a space hopper and then saying 500 000 for PS2 was Platinum and somewhere else 250 000 for PSP. But Im fairly certain its 400 000 for PS3

It's interesting that they would make the PS3 less, almost as if they anticipated less sales on that system.
J. Severe 1,137 Posted December 6, 2010 500,000 units, eh? That could be in part of all the folks importing the Japanese games...
