My progress on learning japanese is getting a little better, but still needs a lot of work. So far i am able to greet people well in japanese. And i am currently trying to klearn how to be polite at dinner table when you are speaking japanese. But the kanji is very difeicult to learn, i am trying to understand the letters, but it is confusing me a little, not too much though. There are three types of letters japanese people use, Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji. I am trying to learn the letters of both Hiragana and katakana, but it is kinda confusing me. I mean, how do i know which kanji i am using? man it's hard and confusing me. But I am able to read some japanese at kleast though. And I am doing alright with speaking it so far, but it still needs more work. Good thibng Winter break is just around the corner, because when winter break is here, I can study my kanji more. So yeah, this is how far i am gettibng on learning japanese, if anyone has any links to any sites that teaches you japanese, please show them, to me.

Nice man. I don't know any sites but I still wish you the best in learning Japanese. :3

That's good to hear. Learning other languages is difficult, so it's nice that you're making some progress. I'd suggest not trying to learn kana and kanji simultaneously though. Start off with Katakana, since it's the most commonly used, and then move onto Hiragana. Save Kanji for last since it can be pretty difficult. If you're having trouble remembering, try writing them over and over again to burn it into your head, and then test yourself to see how much you retain.

Sorry, I don't know of any sites ^^

Japanese is difficult to learn trust me, I've been learning it for just over a year.

As a full time college student I can say Im all for learning, but learning another language especially one as mentally taxing as japanese is to difficult to teach yourself and all thes "free" sites are merely auxiliary educational devices not adequate substitutes for a paid tutor or teacher well versed on the subject. What Im saying is your wasting time and energy on a language your not learning properly. I understand that you clearly have this notion about japanese because of such and such anime. Im sorry to be so crass but the japanese are nothing like they are in anime.

Listen you should really better concentrate your efforts into mastering the language you already speak... english, lord knows you need it. I know I seem condescending but its the truth your dancing to your tune here and i think its high time you either convince your parents to get a tutor or give up before you tangle your feet in a heep because you are quite going the wrong way about learning a new language

Well, I'm not really trying to learn japanese just for anime. i am also doinjg it so that i can play Japanese versions of video games. I am also doing it so i can translate stuff for this site as well. Another reason is because I might visit japn next year. So yeah, these are my reasons. But how am I wasting my time though? I mean, there are people who go on siteS to learn another language.

Ok you seemed to of misinterpreted what I said. I didnt say you were learning it for anime I said you clearly had this notion stocked in your head of how the japanese speak because of anime.

To adequately read and understand the text in games is just another load of work altogether you simply CAN NOT TEACH youself japanese you absolutely NEED a teacher . C'mon you know deep down you need educated help not just phrases and second hand notes

As for these sites your right people do use them. Last year for my Leaving Certificate examinations at my teachers advice I used these site to help enhance and compliment what they were teaching me for Irish and French. Even at that I only got Cs and I worked my ass off. This is the same as trying to teach yourself carpentry you simply can not, however unfortunately you cant accept that

i know some jap to and man was it hard to learn for me and i only learn a few words id say what they are but a few are swear words thank you "heros"
