well, we all know Sora, Riku, Kairi, Aqua, and Terra's keyblades are based on swords, but let's have a look at Ventus's Keyblade...

It's most likely not based on a sword at all, and I'll tell you all why:

the series of the smallest Keyblades, the size is way too small.

Held Backwards:

Knife

As you can see, ventus holds it as a knife.

The "blade" theory: Blade doesn't mean SWORD, it means the part of the sword that cuts. but the part of the Knife, katana, axe, etc, are all called blades as well. That makes me think Keyblades aren't only SWORDS, but any type of melee weapon.

Do you guys have any theories on weapons in KH? post them in a comment below and tell me what you thought about my theory@

This isn't a theory, but it's an idea I've had that Keyblades are able to transeform into a different weapon for a brief period of time. The main one i had in mind was either a bow or arrow, if the Keyblade changes into the bow, then the arrows would be in a quiver either on the wielder's back or hip. The other way is if the Keyblade changes into the arrow, and the bow is on the person's back, and once fired from the bow, the arrow blasts throught the enemy, changes back into the keyblade, and bommerangs back to the wielder. And the bow can be any model: longbow, compound, even a crossbow. I'm just saying the bow and arrow change because I am an archer, but the Keyblade can change into any weapon any of you guys can think of.

that "idea' just might be true, seeing as how TVA's keyblades change into mobiles. maybe the weilder can manipulate the key.

Ummm... guys remember an armor called "Lingering Sentiment"? As you could see, it could change it's Keyblade at will(after being highly influenced by the memories of it's past friends and of course the whole ten-year training waiting for Xehanort) into a bow and arrow(which points that the Keyblade is the bow AND the arrow), a whip, the Glider, and of course the humongous cannon now known as Ultima Cannon. So you see the Keyblade shapes itself after it's wielder, so no surprises if Sora or Mickey start doing amazing strikes with all kinds of weapons.

i just noticed but the handle of vens keyblade the yellow part is half the yellow part at the handle of the kingdom key

Exactly , I mean the keyblade can change to anything just look at (Strike Raid ) it is not a dagger or a blade way of attacking guys it's just a magic blade

True, it's boomerang-ish but Sora can also use it, even tough his KB is based on a sword. which makes me wonder why TA and Roxas can't use it. but that's another story.

I highly doubt that his Keyblade was based off a dagger. Scimitars are sometimes known to be held backhand, and have a similar blade shape to Ventus' Wayward Wind. Scimitars, in real life and through several different game appearances, are known to be a very fast, yet semi-powerful sword. Wayward Wind carries the same characteristics.

Actually blades are knife-based swords that are huge, and he uses it like a ninja uses his sword.
