It just makes almost all of these eikons feels less special

There's this huge emphasis in the story how there are only 8 eikons each with an element and then gameplay wise that plays literally no role

They all do damage, that's their job

Nothing else that can make them stand out more for their own element

You guys ever play Souls games?

I really hope that Square Enix works on the RPG elements in Rebirth

after people mentioned that the gear is boring

If it's anything like Remake I don't really have a worry

I checked XV's and 7R's items

The materia system already is superior to any of this

and they aren't that much more interesting

the issue with the materia system is

it's basically the same as the eikon skills

Absolutely not

the eikon skills are FFXVI's materia system

The materias give you a wide range of different effects to add to each character

Magic that actually works as magic, elemental weaknesses, materias that change up your fighting style

You can make Barret work as a tank to a healer based on what you have

Or you can make them all a light mage

I think it just.comes down to, I get this game wanted a stripped back approachable style but it feels too stripped back.

Like I said a few days ago, not a lot of meat on the bones

That's their primary, and their secondary barely plays a role

Some skills have a parry effect and that's the most it goes to

Some skills are just bad lmao
