Many fans are desperate for the beta files to be released as well, yet you seem unconcerned. The game was cancelled, a petition does nothing. If it is going to be released in some form, then it will be with or without such a position. The fact they cancelled it and made no reassurances despite this, indicates they could easily throw it away.

Someone already did that on reddit, but that is beside the point. I am more interested in the lore implications of ML going towards IV.

While I understand this POV, I think in the end, what we 'need' to know will be told to us in some other way.

I feel like if there’s important plot points that were a part of this game, we’ll probably get them in some other way shape or form in the future. This series is known to sprinkle story beats in various places, whether that be the games themselves, supplementary material like the ultimanias or character files, or even orchestra concerts. (In a perfect world these would all be in the games but historically we know that’s not always been the case.) 

As great as a petition is I tend to agree with @PerseusRad, I don’t think it ultimately influences Square and Disney to provide us that info.
