by calling yourself 'preppy', 'goth', 'punk', etc., you're labeling yourself and allowing people to judge you by the label you gave yourself. you're letting others define who you are. lol that's stupid.

emos cut themselves.

blondes are stupid

preppies are snobs

goths are dark

punks are metal heads.

these are all lies

btw, emo is a genre of music. i wasn't aware people could play music from their bodies.

oh and also, don't label others and then say 'oh i am me, i hate labels, roflrofl'

its called being a hypocrite.

In my opinion, when you give yourself a label, you're allowing yourself to be stereotyped. Why? Because a label is born from a stereotype. People say not to judge a book by it's cover. You don't want people to judge you upon appearances, but you're letting people do that when you give yourself a label. I know a lot of people at my school, both friends and acquaintances, who generally dress as a certain label, but they don't call themselves that. They're just being their own person, not letting some label telling them what they can and can't be.

Also, when a person says they're a certain label, I think they just want attention. They're trying too hard to be something they're not. I should know, I used to be that way in middle school. Now I realize that was me being idiotic. My friends and I, when we see somebody trying a bit too hard to make themselves a certain label, we usually call those people posers, or people who just want attention.

Plus, thanks to labels (and the admittedly frightening power of fandom), people expect all emo guys to be hot in a dark and depressing way. Preps are supposed to be annoying pricks that will lose in the end, nerds are adorable in an "adorkable" way, 'badboys' are supposed to be sensitive and loving deep down, all gay/bi/lesbian people are supposed to be sexy, and that jocks are supposed to be jackass-ish morons. See a pattern? This proves my point of labels just allowing yourself to be stereotyped. ._.

I honestly don't know why people can't just be like, "I wear dark clothes" or "I like this genre of music" or "I get good grades" and then be like "But that doesn't make me a (insert label here)." Or just like, not say anything. Doesn't seem that hard. I mean, my friends and I do it all the time. All it takes is a little common knowledge of knowing that humans don't come in packaging.

Personally, I thought that labels were for books and soup cans. I'm pretty sure I can't just cut the top of my head open and chicken noodle will pour out of my head. And I don't know about other people, but I don't read others well. So I don't think people are books.

In my opinion as soon as you give yourself a label you are a poser. None of the real preps would call themselves prep and none of the real emos would call themselves emo.

These groups get stereotyped because morons walk into the room and go "OMGz IM SO GOFFIC" (+1 if you get the reference) and, well you know the rest.

True. You think people want to take your advice?

it's not advice, rofl. i'm just notifying people of the stupid things they're doing to themselves

our schools awesome, we don't really get labels and stuff. we do call people idiots though, but thats just because they are.

This, so much.

Once knew a guy who went "I'm depressed, therefore I'm emo and must dress all black."

But then again.

Are you sure you can really "label" yourself as being blonde, OP? xD

It's not like you have a choice.
