Transcending history and the world, a tale of souls and swords eternally retold...
Set 17 years after Soul Calibur IV, SC5 brings in a slew of new characters along with the classics.
Confirmed characters
Siegfried Schtauffen
Heishiro Mitsurugi
Pyrrha Alexandra (Sophitia's daughter)
Patroklos Alexandra (Sophitia's son)
Isabella "Ivy" Valentine (Confirmed outside of trailers)
Nightmare (Also confirmed outside of trailers)
Confirmed arenas
Phantom Pavillion (It seems. The arena in the trailer is caged, so it's a little hard to tell.)
Sailor's Rest (The pirate ship)
Hasiharu Tago, the SC5 producer, says that the game will focus on more face-paced action than in Soul Calibur IV. They seem to have scrapped the Critical Finish system for a more user-friendly system, one that Tago says is "still under development". He also said that while they will keep the elements that make single-player wonderful, he wants to bring the Soul Calibur community together better online, although he offered no details on that.
Also, no guest characters have been announced. They may not have any, like in SC3, but that's alright. Details are scarce, but Tago has announced a 2012 release, with a personal guess of Q1 or early Q2 for PS3 and 360.
