Skye stood infront of a small shard of glass she used as a mirrior. She stroked her soft fuzzy ears and walked out of her two bedroom apartment. She gave a dollar to the homeless man at the corner like always. Walked to small building with the sign, " We are here to help" Sign on the front. She wore a smile as she walked in and greeted some of her friends. She walked to the back room and signed in.

" Good morning." She said cheerfully passing a few men in the waiting room. Skye picked up a small stack of papers on the front desk with her name on them. She sat at a desk and started to look through them.

Shawn hummed a soothing tone as he finished changing the dressing on an old man's broken arm. He was using a touch of magic to keep the old guy calm. He had been a little unsure of his magic when he found out about it, especially when he heard it had been affecting his music. He had almost given up music all together, fearing he was messing with people's minds to like his work, but Lyle Jibson, the mage who told him about his gift, assured him that the magic only made his singing and playing better. After some coaching, Shawn was fine with using his magic like this to help people clam down so they don't hurt themselves when he helped fix 'em up.

Shawn finished the dressing and gave the old man a wink. He stopped humming and cleared his throat.

"There you go, man." he said with a smile. "You get some rest and you'll be fine."

The old man nodded and closed his eyes to sleep. Shawn got up and stretched his back. He moved out of the Infirmary toward the office. He saw Skye and gave her a wave.

"Hey, Skye." He greeted on his way by.

" Hello." She said cheerfully. She set her papers back down on her desk. She looked up at Shawn and smiled.

" How are you today?" She asked like always. It seemed everyday was exactly the same. She glanced down at the top paper.

" It looks like we will be going on a feild trip." She said as she picked up the top paper and handed it to Shawn.

" It looks like there is a small town in the center of a magic hotspot. We need to get 'em out of there." She stood up.

" I wonder whats causing all the spikes in magic filled areas lately. There have been more than usual."

"I'm good." Shawn said, taking the paper Skye offered to him.

He read over if briefly.

"You would think someone from what's left of the government would have at least sent them a letter." he grumbled.

He grabbed up his jacket and his field back. He also grabbed an old guitar case with his guitar and his shot gun inside it.

"Last I heard, most of the mutated animals in that area weren't that dangerous, but that might have changed. We'd better take a truck out there."

Skye rubbed one of her ears.

" Ya.. good idea." She walked out from behind her desk and grabbed her coat from the back of the chair. She checked the ammo in her pistol and made sure she had her knife.

" Shall we?" She asked gesturing towards the door.

Ethan had been lured to a small town in the middle of nowhere, now normally this wouldn't have been his normal scene, but there was a mage who had crossed his path one too many times hiding it out here. "Probably quivering in a corner some place." He said aloud to himself. He kept searching but as he did so he wondered how true his words were. He could feel the magic in this place and he knew that some mages could even absorb magic if it started to overflow in hotspot areas. He hoped this wasn't going to be more painful on his behalf than it needed to be.

"One sec." Shawn said.

He turned to go back and get some keys to one of the trucks when he nearly ran into Vivian Smith, the 70 something lady who could tell a mad dog to shut up and the dog would listen. As head of this Help Station, she had say in all mission and equipment used on the missions. She dangled a set of keys from a finger while boring holes into Shawn with her eyes.

"You will bring this vehicle back in one piece." She said in a quite tone that seemed to boom when she wanted it to. "And fill up its tank when you are through."

"After some partying." Shawn said with a grin.

He tried to snatch the keys from her playfully, but Vivian moved faster than he did.

"Careful." she said, her face blank, but a good natured twinkle in her eye. "It may need washing soon."

Shawn bowed his head.

"Yes, ma'am." he said.

Vivian then handed him the keys and walked away. Shawn looked over at Skye, smiling.

"I always find it easier to do a dangerous job when I've already risked my life."

He then headed for the garage.

Skye laughed lightly. She nodded ceerfully to Vivian and hopped into the passenger seat. She pulled out a map that came with the report.

" Looks like we are going up north." She said looking at the map.

"You know if we skip the main road and go through the side roads it could be faster." Skye pointed out showing Shawn the map.

Shawn leaned over to study the map for a moment.

"Yeah, that should be good." he said. "Most of the back streets have been cleared of debris and gang activity is down in the areas we'd have to go through."

He cranked up the truck and put in reverse. On the street. he shifted into drive.

"Give me turns as they come up." he said.

He was really glad the little town they were going to was on the same "island" as they were. Going over the bridges holding the island chucks together always gave Shawn the creeps.

Ethan moved, stealthily, completely unseen. He wondered through the streets of the small town, although he was becoming increasingly more unnerved. He hadn't seen a regular human or mage for awhile. All he could find were pitiful mutants, much worse off than he was. He kept going but in the pit of his stomach, he could feel something wasn't right and whatever that something was, he was going to walk right into it.

Skye leaned back a little in the seat. She glanced atthe map then at road.

" Take a right here." She said as the street began to diverge.

" I hope the people are ok..." She said quietly looking out her window. The site of deceased people always made her sick.

" Another right up here." She said again setting the map in her lap.

Shawn followed Skye's directions.

"Me too." Shawn said to Skye.

He opened his mouth to rant, but snapped it shut. He could do that all he wanted after the people were safe.

"Hopefully, someone with brains is there and at least moving people out of the really bad areas."

Shawn pushed down on the accelerator to pick up more speed. The fast he and Skye got there, the better. Unconsciously, Shawn started humming a new tune.

Miki was gliding in the sky and stared at the people below. They look like ants from up here, she thought as another song started playing in her headphones. She saw a truck from below going a little faster than usual. Isn't that speeding, she thought as she stared hard at the vehicle to try and see who's inside (hawk vision comes with the wings lol). Eh, i'm not going to be a snitch so i'll just follow from up here. With that, Miki flapped her wings a little faster so she could keep up with the people she was following.

Skye nodded.

" Hopefully." Skye sighs and looks out the window. She spots faint shadow along the road following their truck. Too big to be a bird... She thinks to herself. Skye rolls down the window and leans out gazing up into the sky. She gasps and pullsback into the car.

" Shawn pull over."

Miki saw the truck pull over and she stopped flying and hovered where she was. "Potty break??" She said to herself as the truck came to a complete stop. She saw a girl peak out her head out of the truck for a quick second then pulled it back in. "I don't get it," she said. "I don't see any police around. Did they see me?" Miki hovered a bit higher and stared down a the truck. She didn't see any movements. Miki just hummed along to the song that was playing

vincent hurd someone humming. "i wonder who is doing that." vincent fallowed the where the sound was coming form. vincent saw who saw doing it. "it may be a hertless." so vincent pulled out dark fenrir and ran out of the bush. "die heartless" vincent stop his blade when he was it was persion. "oh sorry i thought you where a heartless" vincent put back dark fenrir.

He dropped to his knees and felt like he was about to cough up blood along with a load of other things found inside the human body. The magic here was too dense for any humans to survive for very long and the Lord forbid any more humans die or mutate. Ethan began running trying to sense out any surviving humans.

(With how things are, heartless could easily be a mutated creature of some sort. You can pretty much bring in what ever as long as you don't go over board.)

 

Shawn got out of the truck and looked up. He saw someone hovering in the air. He shook his head.

"And this is normal." he said with a chuckle.

He then closed his eyes, using his magic to amplify his hearing. He could now hear the music in Miki was listening to. He grunted as he turned off his hearing.

"Good songs, but the band was made up of jerks." he muttered to himself.

He looked back into the cab of the truck, at Skye.

"We got a flyer. Don't worry. I think she's more interested in her music than us."

Miki looked down and saw two people outside of the truck. The music in her headphones turned down and she stared at them. Yup, she thought, looks like i'm caught, i guess there's no need staying up here. She folded her wings in and started free falling to the ground, laughing on the way down. When Miki was a good 5 feet from the ground, she opened up her wings to slow down and landed on her feet near the two people. "So it seems that you spoted me, huh?" She said to them streching her arms. "Well, as you may see, i come in peace." She said making a peace sign with her fingers and grinned

" Its not hard to spot you with your wings as big as they are." Skye pointed out rubbing her ear. She had only seen mutated people with smaller wings, these wings intreged her.

" Are you in need of help?" Asked skye wanting to get moving as fast as possible but not wanting to leave someone who may need help behind.

Miki rubbed her hand against one of her wings."i guess. It's looks like you guys are in a hurry for something, am i right?" She said and folded her wings in until they weren't visible anymore. "You were going a little too fast with that truck." She took a glance at the girl's animal looking ears on her head. I'm guessing they're real, she thought

Shawn gave Miki a quick look over. Her mutations looked stable. Satisfied she was at least visually fine, Shawn put his mind on the job he and Skye were given.

"We work for a local aid station." he explained to Miki. "We heard of a magical hot spot in a little town out side the city. We're on our way to help and maybe evacuate the people there."

"Hmm, magical hot spot, huh?" She said in thought. "You mind if i tag along? It's not like i have anything else to do, besides it sounds interesting." Magical, she thought, sounds neat and i've always wanted to start helping people. "Well, like she said, you guys were in a hurry,but i can keep up." If that girl is like half animal or some thing, she thought, then i'm the only with abnormal powers. Sweet

Shawn nodded, smiling.

"Glad to have you along." he said. "I'm Shawn."

He jerked his thumb over to Skye.

"This is Skye. What's your name?"
