Aperntly Final Fantasy 13-2 isn't selling well in Japan right now, and it's not doing half as well as Final fantasy 13 when it first came out. Many people think it's because many fans were disappointed with 13. But I don't understand why? Final fantasy 13 was a great game! It had a great story and great battle system. I know many fans were upset that there weren't any towns, but why would there be? The story is you are on the run, why would you be walking around town talking to everyone who had an X over their head? To those of you who were disappointed with 13, please give 13-2 a chance, they let you have towns in this one..... :D

Well I can't say anything on FF XIII since I haven't played it before. but I heard that the gameplay is pretty crappy and that it's too linear. But I also heard that FF XIII-2 slightly improves on that a little. Which doesn't seems to be any better than the first game. Plus, the only thing I hate about XIII-2 is that there are 2 endings. I hate a game wuth multiple endings because there is no proof as to which ending is the true one. But that's all just my opinion though. I still plan to get FF XIII-2 and try it out.

I'm not going to really spoil the game, but I've been watching walkthroughs for quite some time now since I was pretty iffy about this in the first place and wanted to see how the game was like. The battles/gameplay is alright and was improved since FF13 but like the plot from what I can understand isn't very good in my opinion and it certainly isn't on the top of my "must buy" list. It probably isn't doing as well because it isn't as good as FF13 was. Honestly it's a rather useless title in my opinion just like FFX-2 was. I loved Final Fantasy 13 so much, don't get me wrong, XIII is one of my favorites but it's sequel based off of everything I've watched really just isn't good at all...

As for the ending there are about 9 or more endings and while people are unsure about which is the "true" ending, the true ending more than likely is the one that's only in CGI and it's a pretty crappy ending if you've seen it...

But hey if you guys want to get it and see for yourself when it comes out than be my guest. Maybe others may like it a bit more than what I feel about it so far. :U

I probably won't get it or I'd at least borrow it from someone. I don't think the game is worth the price.

I just got Final Fantasy XIII for Christmas and I've gotten pretty close to finishing it. I already know the whole story(youtube) so the only reason I wanted it was to see if I liked the gameplay. And I personally have really enjoyed the gameplay... I don't know why lots of people kept bashing on the game. It's different than the gameplay use to be but it's completely fine...it does have some problems but nothing major for me.

I'm quite excited for XIII-2. I've heard the battle system has been slightly improved so I'm happy about that. The story, from what I've heard, sounds alright. Not so excited about the different endings. But I'm still planning on getting it just because I want to play for myself. I've pre-ordered my copy as a late Christmas gift.

Sorry but the fact that "the characters were on the run" is no excuse for Final Fantasy XII's extreme linearity. While some people may have liked it, I personally hated it. The characters could've put on disguises. Plenty of RPGs have had on-the-run characters but still let the players explore towns/villages/whatever... Not to mention the fact that the civilians of the world didn't have Lightning and the gang's faces memorized. Remember the scene where the gang arrived in Eden? Everyone was cheering for Snow... it wasn't until stupid Snow exposed his l'Cie marking that the civilians realized that he was a l'Cie xD.

ANYWAYSSS

I'm not surprised at all that the game isn't selling well. You said it yourself-- people didn't like XIII. So why would they wanna buy XIII-2? :P Even if Square promised to make it better. You can't come out with a shit game and then expect people to buy a sequel that they didn't even want in the first place.

Personally, I'm going to get XIII-2 because I'm a Final Fanatic! But I'm probably going to get it used or wait till it drops to $30 or less.

I've been watching numerous japanese gameplay videos and even though the game is less linear, it still doesn't have as much exploration as I would've hoped. But I don't blame square for that, I blame today's graphics standards. I mean who would want to run around in a realistic city and take 30 minutes to explore the whole dam thing? Not me xD.

But the game will be fun, just like XIII was. XIII wasn't the best, but I did enjoy the game :)!

I wouldn't call half a million sales 'bad'

I can see why the sequel for FFXIII isn't selling as well... I mean. Lets be brutally honest. The battle system sucks. The linear nature is very frustrating when put up against other great games in the series like FFX. And it just... changed to much. I'm gonna quote spoony: "BETRAYAL!" FFXIiI took away a lot of the elements that made Final Fantasy what it is. Open world, turn based battle system... Hell, the frigging summons are transformers and there isn't even any victory fanfare. AND WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH VANILLES VOICE. AND WHY IS SNOW STUPID. AND WHY IS HOPE SO EFFEMINATE. I MEAN I COULD PUT UP WITH TIDUS AND ZIDANE BUT GOOD GOD THATS A SISSy, AND WTF IS UP WITH THE CHOCOBo IS SAZH'S HAIR. AND WHY WHY WHY IS THE LEVELING SYSTEM SO FRICKING EASY. OH GOD. OH GOD. OH GOD. ...

Okay. Slight mental breakdown. But the point is... if FFX-2 fails, then I can see why.

I can see why the sequel for FFXIII isn't selling as well... I mean. Lets be brutally honest. Okay The battle system sucks.Agreed. Glad they fixed in in XIII-2 a little The linear nature is very frustrating But the sequel is ridiculously nonlinear, and X is very linear until the end. when put up against other great games in the series like FFX.Strange you call this game great, you'd think you'd be more understanding of the less loved FFs... And it just... changed to much. I'm gonna quote spoony: "BETRAYAL!"Aha! I've found the roots of your irrational FFeelings! FFXIiI took away a lot of the elements that made Final Fantasy what it is. Open world, turn based battle system....Only FF1-3 and X ahve turn based combat, everything else has an ATB system Hell, the frigging summons are transformers and there isn't even any victory fanfare. AND WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH VANILLES VOICE's it's from Australia AND WHY IS SNOW STUPID. AND WHY IS HOPE SO EFFEMINATE. I MEAN I COULD PUT UP WITH TIDUS AND ZIDANE BUT GOOD GOD THATS A SISSy, Are you calling Zidane a sissy? On another note, are you saying that being a sissy is such a character flaw that they can't be protagonists for game? Also, why is being effeminate the same as being a sissy?, AND WTF IS UP WITH THE CHOCOBo IS SAZH'S HAIR. Did you... play the game? Like, at all? AND WHY WHY WHY IS THE LEVELING SYSTEM SO FRICKING EASY Uh... why does a leveling system have to be difficult? It's a leveling system. It makes you stronger. OH GOD. OH GOD. OH GOD. ...

Okay. Slight mental breakdown. But the point is... if FFX-2 fails, then I can see why.

FFX-2 WAS a failure.
