I've decided that I'll make an AMV, but I can't choose the song.

And, how do I not make it look like utter shit?

Again, it doesn't need a specific main idea if you're a beginner, imo. Just learn the program and such.

As Koko said, just try to learn the program before anything crazy.

I don't know what video editing program you're using but youtube is your friend. Always look for tutorial when you're in a pinch.

I use WMM.

I installed Vegas, but it wouldn't work for me. D:

WMM? No problem. No need to worry even if you're using WMM. Let me introduce you to one of (or all of) the legendary KH GMV makers that inspired me to make KH GMVs back in 2006.

 

"Pwilliard". He was an WMM elitist and later a Sony Vegas expert, but sadly his old youtube acc went dead and most of his good videos were taken down. He later opened a new youtube acc but carefully upload some of the videos that won't suspend his acc again.

Let me introduce to you to another one of those "Legendary" KH GMV editors and that is "budds". She was the best of the best and the one who got all of us KH GMV makers into sony vegas at that period of time.

The only thing I personally learned from them was Timing of the use of the songs and video clips but its a good first step.

 

Let me show you a video of mine that I've created using WMM. It was my first time trying to use the clips properly and following the timing of the song. I failed quite badly while editing this video. =/

Actually, Pwillard wasn't very good at Sony Vegas, but his WMM was really good! Considering it was WMM. I always recommend watching his WMM videos to WMM users since he is one of the few that can make really nice videos with it. Sony Vegas however was his downfall, at least from what I saw.

If you ever get Vegas working, I suggest looking up Hopezii, zoyandra, Blue24601, BabyFantasiaxx, and driftingdaydreams. They're the best KH editors I've seen(except for BabyFantasia, she's more FF from what I've seen but her style is quite lovely and driftingdaydreams has a few KH videos because she's trying to edit it again after closing down her old account) that use Vegas and I use their videos for inspiration

I don't know any Sony Vegas Editors besides the ones that I've mention except binks since he was the one who always organize this kh gmv competition thingy. I don't know what made his downfall but he had very good videos but was taken down by youtube so I'm not sure though. Since Snow is currently using WMM, watching Pwilliard and budds WMM videos is the way to go since the rest are more into Sony Vegas.

 

And Koko, I think you'll like Hazamalay's videos since she is more into Sony Vegas. =) She used to had alot of awesome video projects uploaded but was taken down by youtube and had to create a new youtube account under Hazamalay. She was Hazzlie. Oh and also check out Avidityy. She was goddess I tell you. Goddess! I don't know about now since I've lost contact with all of them. =/
