Has anyone besides me notice that video games are starting to get a little more expensive? I really find it ridiculous that games nowadays cost so much more then they normally cost. Example with this would be Uncharted 3, Assassin's creed: Revelations, and Final fantasy XIII-2. Seriously, what happened to new games costing around $50.00? Why must we pay $10.00 more for a new game? I really hate how games are starting to become expensive. I know the developers of the games want to make money but why pay that much for a game? I mean the only way I can see a game costing that much is if it was really big and highly anticipated. Like Zelda: Skyward Sword, Batman Arkham City, and Skyrim. I can understand games like those costing that much. The developers did a lot of work with those games so they deserve that much money. And I know it also depends on the type of games. But nowadays it's mostly PS3/Xbox 360 games costing that much (and sometimes Wii games depending on how big and highly anticipated it is).

So, what do you think about prices of video games?

Games cost more to make these days, it only makes sense that they become more expensive.

I very rarely buy games the first day they are released.

I wait for them to drop to $30 or below.

I refuse to pay $60 for a game like Final Fantasy XIII-2, when I'm sure I'll start seeing it in Best Buy's bargain bin a few weeks after it's release and the "fans" start to complain.

i agree games are getting way too much D: lucky so far KH has only been at $39.99 :D

KH1 and KH2 weren't at $49.99?

Anyway, I noticed this when the 360 games first came out.

I understand but there are some games like FF XIII-2 that don't deserve to cost that much. Heck, that game isn't highly anticipated or really big. So why must it cost that much? This is why I am just going to wait for a price drop of the game rather than buying it on the first day.

He's talking about Dream Drop Distance lol.

Square Enix wants $$$. Surprise surprise? xD.

Plus, when people don't buy the game it only forces the company to lower the price.

Which already happened in Japan :).

I think prices have gone up too high for the price of one game.I remember when games were more affordable and I didn't have to wait for my birthday or the prices to go down.

Unless it's KH, I just wait for the price of the game to drop. e.o

i thought most big titles for the systems were like $59.99 and than the not so big titles were $49.99 for the PS3 and 360 and also i havent really seen that many Wii games that costed $59.99 they were $49.99 and most of the handheld games are like $45.99 or $39.99 i just thought thats how it always has been and i know its a little rediculus for some of the games but they go down after a while. (im still waitng for Uncharted 3 to drop i just might have to get it off of amazon http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/sleep.png) but oh well

Ah-Hrm...*points to NeoGeo*. I admittedly come from a fairly affluent family, so I may just not notice.. But several of the other osters have a point. Game budgets increase FAR faster than the market itself does. If they weren't so wretchedly expensive they wouldn't make enough profit to make another game.

Yeah I agree games are expensive now in days. Over 60 dollars for most new games or 50. Plus don't forget DLC which will be like another 5 to 15 dollars. Ugh I swear if companys want to make a lot more money drop prices a lot more people will buy.

They cost more to make nowadays. I wish we were still at GBA era pricing too (what, like $20-$30 tops for a new GBA game?), but it just isn't possible. The most we can hope for is that they don't got up in price anymore.

Huh,look up facts kids games have been there cheapest now!!!

Yes I know that kid games costs less. But there have been kids games that have costed a little more like Zelda: Skyward Sword.

That's not what meant i called everyone who posted kids because they don't know what there talking about since games have been cheaper than ever.

How did you get KH3D out of what he said? lol

If you're going to say something, make sure it's right because only the handheld games(besides Re:COM) have been at $39.99 or less.

Games should cost no more than $30 a piece.

If I'm getting something new, then I usually reserve it a few months in advance and make payments each paycheck. I only have $10 more on the Collector's Edition for XIII-2, and I've been paying on it for a while.

It just comes down to management.

Yes games are way too expensive for the average gamer.

But on the other hand the price is really justified compared to the work the put into them.

Yeah, I think $60 is a bit too much for a game. I prefer $50 be the max for new games. But things are changing, budgets for games are increasing. I barely get games the day they're released anyway. I prefer waiting for a good deal on amazon and/or ebay.

1. Inflation

2. Retards trying to fix inflation by causing more inflation (See: United States Government)

3. Piracy

4. Games are getting more awesome.

Only one of those things is good.

But alas, if you are not willing to pay then don't play. There is no game company on earth that will release a decent game 100% free and if they do, it will be years after the games original height of it's success and popularity. I feel games are at a decent price right now.

Plus if you can't afford to spend 60 dollars once in a while, then I think you should be focused on things other than video games (like moving out of your cardboard box that is currently stealing electricity and internet from the starbucks you sleep next too)

And as far as I can remember, games were always 30 or 60 dollars. Why is this new and why is it a big deal?

Oh, and fun fact. Do you ever wonder why Infinity Ward, the company that made two games that made BILLIONS of dollars (MW2 and MW3) doesn't have fountains shooting out liquid gold at their studios? It's because video games only make a small profit. Every time you fork over 60 dollars the company that made the game only makes 5 to 20 dollars. If video games were easy to make then we would have Kingdom Hearts 3083321 by now.

Systems and games cost far too much, especially when they first come out. I think that games should cost a max of $40, $50 and $60 is way too much. But if I am going to pay $60 for a game, I think all the dlc should be free. Don't make me pay so much for an incomplete game, then make me pay even more to get the full experience!
