Knight Chronicles: Gigas Awakening

Posted

Based off of White Knight Chronicles

It's been a number of years since the great cataclysm that tore the world asunder and the great kingdoms of the land have recently started being attacked by beasts far more vicious than the standard fare of monsters. They are known as Gigantes, or more commonly Gigas. Somehow they have managed to leave their home realm and they are wreaking havoc across the realm. The people are scared and vulnerable, the perfect opportunity to either take advantage of them all or step up and become a hero. There has been talk of weapons discovered among the ruins unveiled by the cataclysm, great Knights who may just be able to defeat these Gigas once and for all.

Features and Rules:

The world and past will be about the same, but the characters from the game will not be making an appearance unless an rper makes a case for them and I accept. All new, original Incorrupti are used in the story. New weapons are available in they are thought through and explained thoroughly. That includes separating individual weapon types from the general group they are found in and giving them new specific abilities (like making a katana function differently than a longsword). Each role player can control only two characters at first. Any more must be passed through me first please. To prove that you've read the features and rules you must post your favorite video game character at the end of your first post. Anyone can act just about however they want within certain limits. No god modding unless you're in a villain role. No one can kill anyone else's character without permission. There will only be five Knights available, all of which must be discovered in story but which must be claimed in the sign up post. Only one of each role player's characters will be able to find and use a Knight. Standard kh13 role play rules apply of course and no excessive violence or language will be accepted. Keep it PG-13. Posts not following the rules may be asked to be edited. There will be a three strike system.

OOC: I imagined we'd be using a bit of both. atacking the treants legs would cause it to stagger, the Knights use up a ton of power. all that. But also with a dose of reality in there, too.

Gen ducked as one of the vespids charged her. She spun around, throwing a knife into its back. The remaining foes formed a ring aorund her, moving in synchronization. They were a team, but she was an army of one.

Geneviève threw another knife as she reached for the dagger strapped to her leg. She pulled it out, slicing a wing off of one of the vespids. It fell to the ground as she pressed her attack forward. One of them caught her from behind, a cold feeling running up her back. Had she been stung? Gen flipped the knife aorund, stabbing it backward into the vespid's thorax. It spasmed as it fell, twitching in the dirt as Gen stumbled to the next attacker, dagger in hand.

Seeing Gen struck, Joseph quickly cast a Cure spell to relieve some of her pain and hopefully seal up the wound. He decided to toss in a Cure spell for good measure, just in case she'd been poisoned by the attack, and let Brutus take care of the Treant for now. After all, healing allies was far more important than striking down enemies.

Brutus sliced the Treant's leg, and noticed it was beginnig to stagger. He struck as much as much as he could. But it got back up and hit him hard. "Crap...that hurt, but atleast I didn't go flying threw the air!" He ran back and started hacking more, hoping it would do something.

Turning back to the Treant, Joseph cast a fireball spell at it's head. He could feel his magic draining fast, so he opted to close the distance and strike it's leg with string of firey blows. They still took some magic, but not nearly so much as his spells. It would soon be down, much to Joseph's relief, but it still had a lot of fight in it until then.

Gen felt the wave of magical relief wash over her as she finished off the last vespid. She would have to thank Joseph later. Now, that treant had to go.

She dashed toward the treant, throwing a dagge into each of its limbs. Predictably, they didn't do much. Yet. She threw another into its head and torso (OOC: I almost put trunk. Confusing enough?), stopping with her hands forward. She rarely used this ability, but now was as good a time as any to give it another go. After all... it could work this time.

Geneviève pulled out her last knife with her free hand, vringing it to the front with the other. She colsed her eyes, concentrating. She brought her fingers inward, clenching her hands into a fist. The sunlight glinted between her and the treant; what seemed to be wire strings had formed between her and the knives tha twere lodged in the wood. She threw the remaining knife blade-first into the ground, the wires tied to the metal end. Gen leapt back, exhaustion across her face. This was why she never used that ability...

"Joseph... fry that thing..."

Seeing the Treant was on its last legs, so to speak, Joseph prepared a spell he hadn't used for a good long time. "Dragonfire," he whispered, and searched the inner most parts of his soul to find the power hidden within those words. Finding nothing at first, he searched deeper, looking for that part of his self which was connected to the mightiest of magical beasts, the dragons, and calling out for its power. As blood trickled down from his nose as a sign of greater mental stress, he finally found that which he was looking for. Flames sprang forth from the tip of his rod like a geyser, rushing toward the defenseless treant and scorching it thouroughly, in some parts to ashes. Exhausted but finally free of the beasts, Joseph dropped to one knee to wipe away the blood and catch his breath.

Gen dropped next to Joseph, unplugging a mana potion. Using that much mana at once would put anyone in critical condition; the sooner he could restore it the better. "Here." She passed him the vial. "And... thank you, for helping me in the fight."

She could still feel the numbed pain of the vespid's sting, alhtough it was gradually fading. Nothing to worry about. She took a deep breath, looking to Brutus. "And you?" She let out a quick laugh. "You never seem to find yourself in real trouble."

Joseph chugged the Mana potion down greedily, thankful for the relief it was providing for his head ache. "No problem," he responded to her thanks. "We've got to start looking out for one another now. We're all on the same team. I'm just glad we're close to Parma at this point. I'm going to need to rest before we take on the Magi, however. Especially if he has a Gigas contract like the other two did."

She took a deep breath, looking to Brutus. "And you?" She let out a quick laugh. "You never seem to find yourself in real trouble."

Joseph looked over at the imposing man. He had been hit, that was for sure, and he was slightly injured, but he seemed not to feel a thing, and if anything looked disappointed that the fight was over. What sort of man was this?

Brutus started to laugh, it was true, the worst trouble he'd ever gotten into was when he mistakenly fell into that dragon's nest. "Nah, I guess I don't seem to fine much trouble do I?" he said smirking, "but that doesn't mean it won't come eventually you know?"

"Soner than you'd think, at this rate." Gen pulled herself together. The sting was almost completely gone now. She took a glimpse around her, noticing the distance they had covered in that fight. "I would imagine that we are not too far from Parma, non?"

She shut her mouth tight. She couldn't slip up like that again. She had to blend in with the locals, and the last she checked... the locals didn't know French.

  • Author

Joseph was totally oblivious to the slip up, his head still pounding. "Yeah, lets just get there and get some rest. And some food. Not necessarily in that order. Both at once if you can figure out a way to pull that off."

"Actually, back when I was on the trail a while back...in my troll killing years, my friend succumed to a particular poison that killed his movement for thirty days. To keep him alive I had to shove food down his throat, a time consuming process, but he felt no pain. Due to the fact he was poisoned, but in our case...maybe stopping by my house and me fixing us up a meal would suffice?" Brutus asked. He began walking towards a rather large farm house near the town, it was a white two floored house, and had a beautiful windmill beside it as well as a meadery.

OOC: "In my troll-killing years"... I should use that for something...

So this was Parma. It was small. Well... quaint.

Coming form the city, Gen felt like she was in the middle of nowhere. There were farmers, animals... everything that you would imagine living in the middle of a field. "So, what happens here in Parma? It looks mostly like a farming community."

The open air was nice, but she couldn't wait to get back to civilization.

Joseph replied to her question, but was truly only focused on the food they were about to eat. "Well, from what I've heard, they're the main supplier of wine, grapes, cattle, and horses for several different military groups. Not much on the technological scale, but without Parma a number of countries would fall into disarray," he finished. What he was thinking, however, fell more along these lines: "food sleep food sleep food sleep food sleep food sleep food sleep." He almost wished that Brutus would knock him out and shove food down his throat like he had with that friend years ago. Almost.

"Plus my family alone hosts up to 60% of Parma's wine, grapes, vegetables, and cattle here. For fun you can go cow tipping, take long enthusiastic walks in the moonlight, and my personal favorite make Poptarts mad by asking them to pick up my axe!" Brutus said smiling. He then opened up the door to his house, and there sitting in a chair infront of him was a six foot eight man. He had a long gray beard, dark blue eyes, and a shiny bald head. (Imagine a giant, angry looking Santa. Only instead of fat, he is super ripped.)

"Hiya dad! These are my friends, and they want to stay for a night!" Brutus said smiling. There was a great smell of wine in the house, and it was obvious there had been a party. His dad just nodded and pointed upstairs.

"Thank you sir," Joseph said sleepily as he drug himself up the stairs. Everyone heard a muffled thump as he dropped like a sack on the bed.

Everything about this house was sensory-overload. The smell of the wine made Gen's head spin, the giant of a man that silently towered over herone of the most imposing presences she had ever felt. And had Brutus said... cow-tipping?

"Um... thank you. I think I need to lie down for a bit." She bowed graciously to her hosts before making her way upstairs. One of the guest room doors was open (at least, she hoped it was a guest room), Gen taking her leave of walking as she fell onto the mattress.

  • Author

"Owww," Joseph said groggily as he felt something or someone falling on the bed and by extension, him. Without looking to see who or what it was he simply replied "Night," and continued to sleep.

Brutus walked by and noticed them. He put on a terribly sad face and said, "You know...my mom died in that very bed...beneath those very sheets."

He then went on to say, "This totally isn't awkward, and I'm totally not going to pretend it isn't there and I'm not going to bed right now." He then bolted to his room and covered up in his bed.

Joseph woke up a number of hours later to find that Gen had fallen asleep on top of/beside him. (Note: The following two sentences can be removed if need be, simply ask.) Gen's arm was wrapped tightly around him and her brow was furrowed in a mixture of anger, worry, and sorrow. Joseph had no idea what it was about, but he suddenly felt like she was a little child, afraid of a storm and in need of reassurance. "Ummm... this is awkward," he mumbled under his breath as he attempted to exit the bed without waking her. He then went downstairs to a drooling monster of a man asleep on his couch. Walking softly as to prevent the great beast from awakening, Joseph headed to the kitchen for some food. He was feeling much better than he had, and was hoping that a full stomach would help even more.

OOC: No, that's good. It works with this:

"Stop him!"

"Arrêtez l'assassin!"

"Tuez-le!"

The figure dashed through the streets, silver mask flashing in the lamp lights as he pushed through the crowds of Paris. The guards shouted obscenities as they forced their way through as well. "Prenez-le vers le bas!" One of the men shouted, the cloaked figure looking up. Guards stodd atop the buildings, crossbows in hand. They aimed down toward him, the figure ducking into one of the alleyways. Their archers couldn't-

He stopped, frozen in place. The guard rounded the dark corner, pulling his dagger out of the man's side. "I got him!" He said as he knelt down, reaching for the mask...

Gen bolted awake, looking around. She was in Parma. All she could do was tell herself that it was only a dream, but still...

She quickly ran her fingers through her hair in a nearby mirror before carefully making her way downstairs. Joseph was already in the kitchen. "Good morning." She said quietly.

  • Author

"Morning," Joseph replied, a concerned look on his face. "Everything okay? You seemed kind of... off, this morning." He turned back around, his face completely red. Why couldn't he be better with, you know, emotions and stuff?

"It was just a dream." Gen sat at the table, looking down at the cloth. Her voice was flat, but the waver in it betrayed her feelings. "Nothing but tricks of the mind."

What could she do to rid herself of these? Time was obviously not the solution, and she couldn't tell anyone else...

"So what is the plan?" Gen distracted herself with the question. "Are we leaving Parma today?"

Brutus walked downstairs then looked at them. "Morning love birds, how goes breakfast? Man if you guys could see your faces. No...wait, my belly senses are tingling. Brutus need food!!" Brutus said. He walked over to his storage closet and grabbed some eggs and pork meat. Immediately he started cooking them, and once they were prepared he sat at his families gigantic dining room table. "You know, you almost can't tell we're in deep debt can ya? My brother and his wife are currently out selling some of our goods in Faria. Apparently dad made enough to buy a cart for our two horses, and now they'll be gone. I'm leaving my money on the table with a note when we leave. The debts will be paid, and hopefully there will be enough left over to send my brother and his wife off to a nice vacation destination," Brutus said with a half smile. He then finished eating and went upstairs to grab his axe. His room was so cold, and then he noticed his dad had left a note in his room...apparently he was being forced to stay away from half of his fields by some weird organization. They were digging for something. Brutus was enraged and grabbed up his axe quickly. He headed out of the house fast, not even bothering with the others, and besides it was his family's business....nobody messed with his family.

  • Author

"What was that?" Joseph asked as he set his food down looking towards the door Brutus had just left in a rush. "He sure looked ticked off. Here Gen, I'll go check on things, you can keep eating if you'd like. If it's anything big then I'll come get you."
