Knight Chronicles: Gigas Awakening

Posted

Based off of White Knight Chronicles

It's been a number of years since the great cataclysm that tore the world asunder and the great kingdoms of the land have recently started being attacked by beasts far more vicious than the standard fare of monsters. They are known as Gigantes, or more commonly Gigas. Somehow they have managed to leave their home realm and they are wreaking havoc across the realm. The people are scared and vulnerable, the perfect opportunity to either take advantage of them all or step up and become a hero. There has been talk of weapons discovered among the ruins unveiled by the cataclysm, great Knights who may just be able to defeat these Gigas once and for all.

Features and Rules:

The world and past will be about the same, but the characters from the game will not be making an appearance unless an rper makes a case for them and I accept. All new, original Incorrupti are used in the story. New weapons are available in they are thought through and explained thoroughly. That includes separating individual weapon types from the general group they are found in and giving them new specific abilities (like making a katana function differently than a longsword). Each role player can control only two characters at first. Any more must be passed through me first please. To prove that you've read the features and rules you must post your favorite video game character at the end of your first post. Anyone can act just about however they want within certain limits. No god modding unless you're in a villain role. No one can kill anyone else's character without permission. There will only be five Knights available, all of which must be discovered in story but which must be claimed in the sign up post. Only one of each role player's characters will be able to find and use a Knight. Standard kh13 role play rules apply of course and no excessive violence or language will be accepted. Keep it PG-13. Posts not following the rules may be asked to be edited. There will be a three strike system.

OOC: I figured we just got out of a fight, so we'd just pop over to the castle.

(OOC: Agreed.)

Brutus walked a bit faster, increasing his pace, and felt as though he was sobering up quickly. His head felt like it was actually attatched, and he noticed the color was coming back to his hands. He smiled and started to run as his spirits grew higher.

(OOC: Just making sure everyone was in agreement.)

Joseph looked up and saw the walls outside of the great city coming up quick. As he approached the guards who stood waiting, he told them that the three of them had managed to defeat the Magi, but that unfortunately not before the Gigas had consumed his soul. The guards nodded solemnly before gesturing for the trio to follow them into the city. Balandor seemed as bright and cheerful as ever, but Joseph could feel that something was off. There was a great darkness rising, but it was hidden, even from his magic. Whatever it was, only the guards and a select few other people knew about it. It was a good thing, too, because whatever it was, it was powerful.

Balandor again. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing, mind you. The city always seemed so peaceful. Gen glanced to the stalls that lined the streets, merchants peddling whatever goods they had to people walking by. Small groups of people clustered by the walls, telling stories and laughing. It all looked so nice.

And yet Gen couldn't shake this feeling she had. It wasn't really a bad feeling, it just... didn't feel right. She couldn't explain it, but it was different from wha tshe had been feeling before. There was no paranoia now, only... dread.

But maybe thoughts like this were best kept to one's self. Gen kept her mouth shut as they approached the castle. Maybe the King would have something to say about this, if only so she wouldn't have to.

Brutus looked at a vendor and walked over to him and asked," Hello do you have a waste basket?" The vendor nodded and handed it over. Brutus took it with a smile and then proceeded to throw up in it for a good five minutes.

After Brutus had finished puking his guts out, the three of them were taken to see the King once more. Seeing as how Brutus was sick and Gen seemed uncomfortable, Joseph decided to share everything that had happened. At first he thought to make Gen and himself appear more heroic, but eventually decided against it. He was going to try the whole "honesty" thing out for a bit and see what he thought. The King looked relieved to hear of the trio's victory and the discovery of the Knight, but he seemed troubled by the fact that they hadn't been able to take the Magi alive due to the Gigas taking his soul from extended exposure. Joseph understood his concern. If they'd been able to capture him then they might be able to get more info on the rest of his organization.

"Thank you all so very much for your assistance in this matter. There is nothing more I'd like to say right now than that the three of you had taken down the biggest threat the kingdom has seen in a while, but unfortunately matters appear to only be getting worse. Most of the other great kingdoms and cities experienced an attack much like our own, though with far greater losses. The one Magi member we managed to capture was uncooperative and managed to swallow some cyanide, effectively keeping us from learning his secrets. The only thing he said before passing was that the "Gigas Gate's seal will have been released by the true king," even though he admitted that they had failed their part of the mission. Our scholars have poured over all of the ancient texts we have available and have found evidence of the Gigas Gate to which he was referring. Evidently, in a time long before their war with Yshrenia, the Athwani people used their special sealing magic to lock away the Gigas in another dimension. To unlock the Gate would require a massive blood sacrifice, one of the likes which happened just recently across our world. If all of this is right, then the blood has just begun to flow. Gigas will now be allowed to freely wander our world, bringing untold catastrophe. Worst of all, we have suspicion that the "true king" to which he was referring is or has access to one of the five Knights of Yshrenian legend. We had the armor of the "King" stored away under our castle but without the Ark until just a few months ago when it seemingly vanished. While my soldiers work to maintain order and eliminate threats here and in neighboring countries, I'm afraid that I'll have to ask of you your time and assistance in taking care of this problem. I know that it is not in my rights to force you into this position, but as the owners of a Knight as well as considerable experience and combat prowess, I believe that you three will be able to do more good than you realize. There was also an ancient prophesy found, from back in a time in which prophesies were the stuff of truth and not just the bablings of a crazed person, which states that three unlikely heroes would discover the Knights of old and unite against the Gigas and the Corrupted ones, by this we think they are referring to other Knights, and lock them on the other side of eternity, working with an Athwanian to seal the gate once more. I am not saying that the three of you are the heroes of prophesy and I am not forcing you to do anything more than the considerable amount you have accomplished so far. What ever your choice, you will still be given your earnings in gold or favors, if you'd prefer. I would ask that you consider the people before jumping to any hasty decisions, however."

"I'm ok with that! Let's go break some faces!!!!" he yelled half drunkenly.

OOC: Sorry! I;d only remember to post when I was driving... you know, when I can't!

Heroes? And naturally, prophecies had to work their way in as well. But... she could do with one of those favors.

"Yes," Gen answered. "Of course, Your Majesty. I would be glad to help your people."

(OOC: I love the "The man your man could smell like" thing as your title. Cracked me up!)

Joseph, not to be left out of his group, responded positively as well. "Well, if prophesy is mixed up in this then I guess fate will have me take part whether I want to or not. I'm in." Joseph was rather surprised at his considering the other two to be "his group" but waved it off. The king smiled in appreciation of their choices.

Turning to the other two, Joseph asked, "After we eat and sleep here, where would you guys like to go first? I'm guessing we'll be making progress just about anywhere we go, so one place is as good as the other."

(OOC: The five Knights will each be connected to a chess piece. Damion has the castle, I will have the bishop, and the main villain will have the king, leaving the knight and the queen for AnsemTheWise to choose from. What I'd like to know is how you guys think we should handle the pawns? Should pawns be like the Ark Knight in WKC2 or should they be special weapons/pieces of armor with potent abilities? Let me know what you think. Also, if you guys want to add in a character or two then you're more than welcome.)

OOC: I was just thinking of the Ark Knights as the pawns, and if I change my Knight I'll take the queen.

"It doesn't really matter to me." Gen shrugged. "I do not know anywhere in this country. And besides..." She began to stroll away from the chambers, bowing before leaving, of course. "Right now, I only want a hot bath."

"All righty then! I'm guessing that after we gather supplies and stuff we'll be headed to...?" Brutus began.

Great, thought Joseph, the pressure to decide is back on me now. If something goes wrong, I'll be the first one blamed. Oh well, I guess there's nothing to do about it.

"I guess we should head to Faria first as a sign of good faith. They are one of our newest and most powerful allies after all, and it would give a good impression if we were to look and see what could be done to help there kingdom. Besides, the travel from here to there would require a ship, and after that we could just cycle around, going from kingdom to kingdom and place to place on foot. Does that sound good to everyone?" he asked as he walked leisurely after the other two.

Faria? She had never heard of it, but if Joseph was recommending it...

"Sure." Gen glanced back to the guys. "It sounds alright to me. Now, if you will excuse me." Gen smiled as she slipped into one of the guest chambers, relieved to finally be somewhere where she could relax. She moved past the bed, finding the bathing room. As expected, everything in the castle was... well, nice. She felt a little out of place in the middle of it all, but that wouldn't stop her.

There was a series of pipes extending form the ceiling, hidden behind the porcelain basin. Upon investigation, Gen discovered that they carried water... straight into the tub! (OOC: Indoor plumbing. It's gonna be big!) With a grin on her face, Gen began dismantling her filthy wardrobe, only realizing now just how much that they had been doing. She would need to get those cleaned as well...

But now was no time to worry about that. Gen slipped into the tub, closing the water pipe again. Now was the time for relaxation.

Brutus began streatching and spinning his axe around.

(I'm really sorry I've been gone so long. I'll post later on today and we can get things going again.)

As Joseph walked past Brutus on his way out the door, he called, "Hey, aren't you going to clean up and take a bath before we head out on the ship? We'll be able to sleep plenty on the way to Faria, but we really need to get clean now. I don't care if you've got a Knight now, I don't want to be held in the company of swine."

"Wait....whats a bath??" Brutus asked.

"No wonder Brutus always smells," thought Seph. Seph then turned to face him and said, "Okay, I want you to go to your guest room. Adjacent to that there should be a restroom. Inside the restroom there should be a large white tub. This place is fancy enough that they should have indoor plumbing, a luxury I've seen only once before. I want you to fill the tub with water, set your dirty clothes to the side, place a dry towel next to the tub, and get into the water. Then use the soap and wash cloths provided to clean all of the muck and grime off of yourself. Rinse and repeat. After you're clean, step out and drain the tub, dry yourself with the towel, and put on clean clothes. Meet back up with me here in the throne room after you're completely ready to leave for Faria."

"Ooook...I'll do that..." Brutus said. He headed into the room, busted into the bathroom, and quickly got in the tub.

Gen bent over the side of the tub, pulling the stopper out of the hole at the bottom. The water drained out, the girl mesmerized by it. Hopefully, they would have these wherever they were going next. Come to think of it... where were they going?

Gen shook the towel vigorously through her hair, looking at the mess in the mirror. But her eyes were drawn to her shoulder instead. The scar stretched the length of her clavicle, stopping just short of her throat. That's right. She suddenly remembered why she didn't use mirrors much...

She snapped out of the daze, pulling her arm through the left sleeve of her undershirt. Did Joseph and Brutus have marks like that? Well, Brutus probably scarred himself getting out of bed in the morning, but what about Joseph? She had never really thought of other people having pasts before. They've always kind of just been... there. Existant in her world, but not a part of it. Buttoning her pants, Gen came back to reality again. She slung her jacket over her shoulder, making her way to the main hall. Should she just wait here? No one had said anything before she left, so... yeah, waiting was probably the best plan. Gen found a bench near one of the large windows, taking a seat.

Joseph finished all of the necessary preparations and then headed back to the throne room, anxious to see what Faria had in store for them. He came across Gen in the hallway, sitting on a bench. "Hey there, feel any better now?" he asked. "I don't know how long it'll take Brutus to get here. He didn't even know what a bath was when I asked him." Joseph sat down next to her on the bench, more at ease with her than he was with most people. Sure he had always seemed good with people, but that had just been a defense mechanism. Truth was, he was scared most of the time around others. Scared that they would see the real him, and not like what they saw. With Gen, though, and Brutus for that matter, it didn't matter much. Brutus was guaranteed to not care about much of anything involving his past, and Gen, well Gen looked like the kind of person who would understand. She would know that people aren't perfect, but that focusing on the bad only is no way to go through life. But would she understand him? Yeah, Joseph thought she would.

Edited by Not-with-a-whimper

"I believe it." A slight smile came to her lips. "And yes, I am feeling better. Thank you" Her voice may have been a little flat, but the tinge of pep confirmed her words. Gen always felt weird speaking properly when everyone else just spoke, but it was so much easier that way. All of the slurs and conjuctions... they were hard in this language! But Joseph and Brutus never seemed to mind.

"So, we are going to Faria, yes? I have never heard of it before. Wh-... what's it like?"

  • Author

Joseph noticed that Gen's voice had changed a little, but didn't pay much attention. She sounded a little happier than she had before. Maybe she was excited about visiting Faria? He didn't know. He strove to answer her question with the little knowledge he had, though. "Well, first off, the Farians are a little different in appearance from us. They have horns or antlers on their heads, but don't be alarmed. Balandor and Faria used to have been bitter enemies, but ever since Queen Mui came to power, there's been a peace between us. She's kind and wise, but young and inexperienced and therefore has a hard time protecting her claims to authority. Our visit there to address her will not only assure the Farians that we're on their side in this current disaster, but it will also serve to reinforce the public's view of her authority, undermining those in her council who might want to take it for themselves. Faria itself is a beautiful, lush, tranquil place. The forests and wildlife around Faria are just brimming with mana, one of the reasons that many magic users gather there (just added that in, but I feel like it fits and will be appropriate given later events). There are many types of exotic flowers and the architecture is very unique, much unlike our own. All in all it's a beautiful but dangerous place, due not only to the fierce wildlife we'll find there, but also the Magi members guaranteed to be close by. It's rumored that a powerful artifact lies in wait within Faria, and the Magi will want it."

"A powerful artifact?" When Gen heard those words, images of Brutus' Knight came to mind. Was there another one near Faria? But that wasn't the most pressing topic. The Magi were on their way to Faria as well, which could only mean trouble for everyone involved. "If the Magi are there, then we can be sure that they have at least one Gigas wit z'em." She held a finger up, moving past her quick slip. "Brutus' Knight should be able to take it out, but we need a plan for if... there are more." Her last few words were a little slower, though just as strong as her others.

'Pull it together.' Gen thought to herself. How would fumbling with words come across to other people? "If we can identify the Magi who have made a pact, perhaps we can take them out first."

  • Author

"The ones who've made pacts are the least of our worries," Joseph began, staring down at the floor in great concentration, his mind somewhere else. "If the information the King and his men got out of the captive and the ancient texts is to be believed, then the attack on Balandor was done on the same night as attacks in many other countries as well, probably with more devastating results, in hopes that it would allow this "True King" of theirs to open the Gigas Gate, effectively allowing Gigas to run free without the need for a pactmaker. Hopefully their plan wasn't successful, but we shouldn't rule it out. You're right though, on needing a plan for taking out Gigas with just the two of us. Brutus's Knight is powerful enough to handle one on it's own. Heck, I bet Brutus is powerful enough to take one out on his own if he gets the jump on it. The two of us, however, need to develop a strategy. Tell me, what skills do you have aside from your quick speed, combat prowess, great instincts, and excellent aim with your daggers?" he asked, barely refraining himself from adding "allure" to the list. It was uncalled for after all. One simply doesn't say those sorts of things to teammates. Especially teammates which could drop one in an instant.
