After the overwhelming popularity of the idea, I'm starting this rp. Remember, this takes place in the modern time. So people won't be very happy if you draw your weapon in public. Be careful. Also, this was an important question, and I'll answer. You can talk to your Inhabiter whenever you want. And I have to have Sephiroth as my enemy. Sorry, Azure Flame

 

Joy sat in the cafe, drinking his coffee slowly. He couldn't believe all of it was real. Final Fantasy, everything. And why Cloud chose him was boyone his understanding. After all, in the games, he was the cool dude. Still, having the Buster Sword was pretty cool. He finished his coffee and walked out slowly. He put his hands in his pockets and tried to imitate Cloud's expression, but he burst out laughing, causing to people around him to look at him. Oh, if only they knew.

"You choose to fight?" James asked, laughing. "You couldn't even come close to beating me when it was three on one, what hope do you have with just two?"

 

"More hope than you think." Chuck said, standing up and leaning the gunblade on his shoulder, holding it in one hand. "Squall here has fought and defeated a Time Witch with little problem, and Tifa has fought and beaten you before. We can and will defeat you!"

 

"We'll see about that." James said, holding the seven foot long katana in both hands, over his head. "Show me your strength!"

Scardigne, who had just recently become aware of the catastrophe heading to earth from James, was rushing towards the broadcast network as fast as he could, which, after his training, was pretty dang fast. I will defeat this demon and protect earth and it's people! he thought to both himself and Gabranth. Even if I have to work alongside other demons to see it through.

Livia grinned. "So, are you as brave as Cloud, or too moody like him?" Livia was making fun of Joy becasue she could, and Joy knew it. In absolute rage, he charged. Before he could reach her, everything slowed, and he felt a thud. He felt himself go flying and he smashed into the broken bits of train. But he wouldn't lose. He got up, and while Livia was distracted, punched her again. He had never felt this before, this surge of emotions. He closed his eyes, wating for the blow. But it never came. He opened his eyes, and Livia was gone. He collapsed on the ground, smiling. Then he realized he was in the middle of a blizzard. Livia wanted the pleasure of him dying from Hypothermia. He grimaced, stood up, and started walking towards where a city might be.

Chuck's confidence gave Mariah a little extra hope of defeating James. Her brows knitted in concentration. Alright, offense or evasion first? she wondered. She decided to take the offensive—it would likely be better in the long run if James was dealt the first blow. Before James's katana came down, Mariah charged at him to punch him in the stomach.

James jumped back from her punch only to have Chuck come in behind him with a slash to the back with the gunblade. James spun the Masamune in his hand to block the strike. Chuck jumped back and raised his hand. "Fire!" he said, shooting a ball of fire at James, who jumped up to avoid the attack. However, it was heading toward Mariah. "Mariah, look out!" Chuck said, running to intercept his attack.

Mariah jumped in the direction that James had, both to attack him and to avoid the oncoming fireball. She performed an aerial and attempted to kick James from behind, between the shoulders.

James had begun to turn around to intercept her kick, when Chuck knocked his fireball at James with the gunblade. James slashed at the fireball, but got kicked in the back by Mariah. He stopped in midair and slashed his katana, sending a blue blade at her. Chuck jumped up to block the attack and lunged forward, slashing at him. James blocked the attack and threw Chuck to the ground, diving in to stab him.

“Chuck!” Mariah exclaimed. She took a split second to time her move perfectly, then she dove towards James. She reached out and threw herself at James to knock him over, grabbing one of his arms in the hopes that the katana would end up missing Chuck.

James got thrown off course, crashing down next to Chuck. He grabbed Mariah and jumped back, holding the katana to her neck. "Drop your weapon or I'll kill the girl." he said to Chuck. Chuck didn't know what to do. If he didn't drop his weapon, Mariah would die. But if he did drop it, James might kill her anyways and then kill him. "Fine." he said. "I'll throw down my weapon, but you have to let her go!" "You have my word." James said. Chuck threw down the gunblade and as James was about to let her go, Sephiroth shouted in his head. No you fool! Kill them both, while they're defenseless! Rid yourself from them once and for all, or the'll end up attacking you again!

Mariah did her best not to panic. She had to think carefully and quickly. She knew by now how ruthless Sephiroth was, and that he might make James kill her even if Chuck surrendered his weapon. Just as Chuck threw down his gunblade, she felt James's grip on her relax slightly. She took this opportunity and threw back her head to headbutt him anywhere in the face, and elbowed him in the gut at the same time.

Scardigne had arrived just in time to see Mariah's quick escape. Addressing James he proclaimed, in a deep voice laced with the magic and authority of a Judge of Ivalice, "It's time to meet your end you vile demon willing to plunge this world into darkness and destruction! As grand judge and deliverer of this world, it is my job to insure it's safety and rid it of vile creatures like you. Even if that means I have to work with lesser devils to see your evils fail." Turning to Mariah and Chuck he continued. "I will not strike you until after this beast has been defeated. After he has been dealt with, however, you will each have but two hours before I come for you as well." Unsheathing his blades, he prepared to fight. "I will protect this world!"

James got knocked back by the attack, letting her go. Chuck kicked up the gunblade and ran at him as Sephiroth yelled at James You fool! You had her right there and let her go! James knocked Chuck back with the Masamune and said "Shut up Sephiroth! You broke my concentration and she got us! I almost had them until you interfered!"

Not letting his enemy's distraction slip by, Scardigne rushed as James and crossed both swords in front of himself, lunging forward in a continuous body blow.

The moment she was free, Mariah dropped to the floor, rolled out of James's path, stood back up, and jumped several feet away from him. Then another man came in, apparently to fight against James as well. Mariah was confused by the newcomer's words, but at least the fight was three-on-one now. She glanced over at Chuck to see if he comprehended what the man was talking about any better than she did, but he appeared to be completely focused on James, running towards him with gunblade once again in hand. She turned her attention back to their opponent as well. The newcomer was already charging at James, so she ran at him from the side, jumped into the air, and started coming down on him for a kick.

After wandering endlessly in the snow, Joy collapsed on the ground. He groaned, and turned over onto his back. Joy closed his eyes, ready to die. Is that all your determination is worth? Joy's eye's snapped open. Cloud? He asked. Who did you think would be talking to you like this? Now get up, how would Mariah feel if she knew you were giving up? Joy rolled his eyes, but stood up. And in the distance, he saw it, a town. He smiled, and ran towards it. He stopped, realizing he didn't even know where he was. was this near Alaska, or just still barely in Canada? He smiled as a sign came into view:

You are now entering Alaska.

James jumped up, avoiding Scardigne's attack and grabbing Mariah's leg. He spun around and threw her into Chuck, knocking them both down. He then created a Firaga Ball in his hand and threw it at Scardigne.

 

Chuck fell over as Mariah was thrown into him. "Are you alright Mariah?" he asked, helping her up.

Marcus had finally reached the stopping point, but then looked up. "Damn...penguins..." Marcus said pointing. There in the valley were atleast two hundred emporer penguins. "She's down there somewhere, but to get to her....we gotta go through those cute, fluffy, penguins..." Marcus said shivering.

Mariah groaned. “Yeah, I'm okay. Thanks,” she said, accepting Chuck's assistance. “I should be the one asking you that, since I crashed into you. You think we can keep this up?” As she said this, her mind wandered back to the meteor James had summoned. Well, even if we can, I guess we may not have much longer anyway, she thought.

"It doesn't matter if we can or not, what matters is we have to keep it up." Chuck said. He grabbed the gunblade and jumped up at James to slash him. James blocked the attack with his Masamune and pushed him out the window. Chuck smashed through the window and started falling. He stabbed the gunblade into the side of the TV Station, hanging from it high in the air.

Mariah cried out as Chuck fell out the window, and to her relief, heard when his gunblade stabbed into the side of the building. She wanted to try and help him, but was still wary of James. She had to get him out of the way first, or else she would end up falling out the window as well, only she probably wouldn't be as lucky as Chuck. Mariah charged at James from the side to punch him.

Joy stumbled across the Alaskan border, ready to get his Buster Sowrd. He didn't care what happened to him after that, he just needed his sword. And then he arrived. The site where the Buster Sowrd was stuck in the ground was almost completely deserted; the news crews must have gone to record the James drama. He walked to where the Buster Sword was still stuck in the ground. He grabbed the handle, and felt an immediate warmth. He pulled it out the ground, a grin plastered on his face.

Scardigne/Gabranth:

Scardigne, having blocked the Firaga with his swords with a small amount of success, still getting burnt but avoiding the worst of it, turned to look at what was going on with Chuck and Mariah. To his surprise, Chuck was no where to be found and Mariah was once again rushing James. Scardigne joined her and ran toward the silver haired enemy. As they were rushing him, Scardigne called out, "You, go and get the male. We won't be able to hold out very long without him. I can keep this monstrosity's attention for a short time, however, now go!"

 

August/Vaan:

"Crud, I guess it's time for the fire to dissipate. Cold, here I come!" he called out, aware that that he couldn't very well move through a crowd of penguins while on fire. His energy levels were pretty good considering how long he'd kept the concurrence up and how powerful it was. The connection of energy seemed to have something to do with August and Vaan's combined wills.

Mariah stopped about halfway to James and hesitated, then jumped back almost to where she had started so that she wouldn't easily be attacked by him in her moment of distraction. Tifa?

 

“He's right,” Tifa said, referring to the man who had just given the order to Mariah. “We need Chuck, or else this fight is over. Use those cables to your left.”

 

Mariah looked to where Tifa had indicated and saw several cords used for the cameras and other broadcasting equipment piled on the floor. She found one that looked long enough, assuming Chuck had fallen several stories before catching himself with his weapon, and tied one end to a supporting column, then ran towards the now shattered window with the other end of the cable. Gritting her teeth, she thought, That guy had better be able to hold James off.
