Yes his body did vanish.......... but isn't he reappearing because both Xemnas and Ansem were defeated, which would probably be his original body not his new one. Because Xemnas and Ansem are Xehanorts nobody and heartless not Terranorts (the Xehanort in Terra's body) .......

Incidentally, I don't think Xehanort's Heartless, aka, 'Ansem', had the body we know him to have whatsoever before he got control of Riku. Prior to that he was just hunched under over old brown cloak. He 'magically' manifested that body we see him using, probably because it was an 'ideal' form for him to have, at the prime of his life. Why would he want to be old?

 

Why does he appear young in the dream world? Well, even Sora and Riku appear younger there, don't they?

 

And yet to see Master Xehanort as his older self in the opener, with Sora and Riku as their KH2 selves? Oh yes, it could mean something. Or it could just be pretty visuals.

In any case the reason we see things a certain way is because thats the way they were meant to be seen. everything is always subject to change at Nomura's will (not everything apparently).

who knows, but i have to admit he looks BAD ASS when he was rendered like that in the darkness, it was a great way to start off that trailer!

Well their are subtle hints as you mentioned Xehanort's heartless sought out riku instead of sora who had clearly shown to be the stronger vessel at the time. But think about this they mad it a point in birth by sleep to point out that Master Xehanort sought to escape destiny islands and that he despised it as a prison that held him back. But yet he came back to their why a person who so set to escape his home come back there.
