Windows 8 - Too touch friendly?

Posted

tutti frutti. Was looking into more info on Windows 8, which I found on Yahoo!, and thought that it seems to be more focused on tablets and other touch-based devices as opposed to being focused on the traditional comptuers. In my opinion, there should be an operating system for the traditional PCs and then one for the touch device over making one for both devices. I'm not that big of a fan for touch devices, though they are helpful for people that are constantly on the go, or even do a lot of traveling for thier work. The link is down below for those that want to check out the clip and article I was checking out. Does anyone else have that feeling that operating systems should be for desktops and laptops? Thoughts and comments.

Yeah, I heard it doesn't even have a Menu :

I guess it's focused on tablets so it's understandable.

The current appearance of Windows is old and outdated. If Microsoft wants to stay in the lead they need to try something new.

Anyone with an Xbox 360 or a Windows Phone will tell you that the appearance of Windows 8 is just as functional, if not, more functional than earlier models. Mostly because of how organized everything has become rather than a messy scrapbook of icons and ridiculously detailed lists.

Touch screens are the future and whether you like them or not doesn't change the fact that touch monitors will become extremely common and affordable within the decade.

You can change between the usual desktop you see on Windows 7 and this new one.

Only xP and Vista users need to upgrade. Windows 7 is fine. But if you want to upgrade to Windows 8, that's perfectly fine.

Meh, I really don't care. I am currently very happy with Windows 7, and wouldn't bother wasting the money or time to upgrade anyway. It does stink that it is so catered to touch controls, but those will probably be the norm in a couple years.

Though, judging from some screen shots I just looked up, it looks ugly as a sin. I don't think I will like this new, tablet ruled world if the OSes are always going to look that horrendous. http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/smiley-neutral.png
