I'm doing a project and for my conclusion paper, I need some help. I know everybody has a different religion/belief, and since I really only know and truly care about mine, I need some help if anybody would be kind enough<3 (I'm mostly asking for the opinions of Atheists, since that's what I'm trying to disprove in my paper and I need a better understanding of what they believe)

What do you believe?

Why do you believe what you believe?

What are the most important/biggest necessities in your religion?

Anything else you want to add.

This is a huge part of my grade, so thank you guys so much for helping<33333

What do you believe?

If you're using dictionary terms, Then I guess I'm an atheist. I can't believe in some omnipotent force that can warp the natures of reality, but at the same time it's not like I'm running around pulling a John Proctor. God isn't dead. Strangely enough though, I do believe in the ebbs of... "fate"? The future is always in flux, and may be divined if done properly. Yeah... I'm an atheist fortuneteller.

Why do you believe what you believe?

Simple enough, I'm a scientist and always have been. I see the world in molecular terms and live by the laws that physics has given me. Some unknown being that can create something from nothing has no place in this physical world.

What are the most important/biggest necessities in your religion?

Evidence. It's a simple as that. Theories are all well and good, but you need hard, irrefutable evidence to show me prof of the existence of a divine being. We have evidence of the world's creation, as well as the origins of life. And seeing as that's the only physical evidence we have, then I don't see many other options.

I'm not bashing anyone, and I hope that helps, Pink.

My Roman Catholic opinion just as a comparison to the atheist opinions.

What do you believe?

I am a Roman Catholic though I don't believe in EVERYTHING that is associated with the religion. For example, a benevolent God would not create certain people if they are not meant to serve a benevolent purpose so as a result it's perfectly reasonable to allow same-sex marriage. God is perfect, therefore everything he creates shouldn't be flawed as a perfect person would make no mistakes. The reason why people do bad things is because God gave us freewill which enables US to mistakes. Would that be a flaw? No, because the mistakes of man will never be enough to interfere with the will of God. I also don't believe in the existance of hell. God loves us so why would he send us to a place where we would be forever seperated from him?

Why do you believe what you believe?

First and foremost, I was raised in a way that exposed me to my current religion. My family goes to church every Sunday unless it's physically impossible or unrealistic for us to do so. However if you have a good priest who has interesting things to say you tend to actually like going to church. It's something that sorta grows on you after a while.

However there is logic and science behind the actual existance of God. The generally accepted theories that oppose creationism are the big bang and evolution. First off regarding the big bang, what exactly caused the bang to occur in the first place? No object in existence does things spontaneously, one force acts upon another in a chain of events that causes things to happen. For example, as I am typing this, chemical reactions in the parts of my brain that relate to speech, thought, and muscle memory occur and transmit electronic signals through nerve cells all the way down to the muscles in my fingers to type this out. The idea of the universe just popping out of no where goes against science itself. Obviously some outside force would have to manipulate the ball of matter that would explode to create the unvierse. However, how can an outside force manipulate the ball of matter if this ball of matter contains everything int he universe? Somthing had to have existed before everything else existed. Is this God? Possibly. I personally think it is. God's command to starting the universe, "Let there be light!" is behind this belief. Explosions of any kind generally produce extrordinary amounts of light. A little too big of a coincidence if you ask me.

Then there is evolution, unlike the big bang which is still being debated amongst the scientific community, evolution is completely proven. Obviously God had nothing to do with this. Or did he? If you look at the history of evolution you will see that most creatures, evolved extremely slowly over time, except for the humans. From our species' beginning, we have been evolving faster and more frequently than any other creature above the microscopic level. In the time it took for a dinosaur to grow an extra toe, we have launched ourselves into space. Why is that? Regarding technology, why did humans go from banging sticks to genetically modifying life in less than 50,000 years? 50,000 years to Earth would be the equivilant of a minute to us.

These are just to examples, I feel they are sufficient to support the idea of a greater diety given the way we are communicating, whether or no they prove the existance of a specific diety is an entirely different debate, one that I lack the time, patience, and knowledge to effectively talk about right now. Physical evidence is unecessary. The Apostle Peter doubted the return of Jesus on Easter Sunday yet he was there and sorta felt like a dumbass when he physically saw and felt Jesus. Jesus' response "Blessed are those that do not see, but believe."

So with that said why do I believe in the Roman Catholicism?

The main reason I kept going with Catholicism even after my parents gave me the option of not being confirmed is because it just works. The teachings are good, the evidence behind it is plentiful, people won't generally harass you for being a Catholic, there are plenty of other Catholics all over the world, and the non-religious events in the bible have time and time again been proven to be historically accurate.

What are the most important/biggest necessities in your religion?

Basically, here is Roman Catholicism in a nutshell.

1. God is good and forgiving. There is only one God.

2. Jesus is our savior.

3. The Holy Trinity of God The Father, God The Son, and The Holy Spirit (used to be The Holy Ghost but changed as believing in Ghost is generally a pagan idea) are the things that we worship. This does not mean there are 3 seperate Gods. It means God manifests himself in 3 different ways. One (The Father), as an all powerful, but loving ruler. The second (The Son), as a human being who endured the best and worst of humanity to get a better picture of what his creations really are and how he can save them from going on the wrong paths. The third (The Holy Spirit), is more of an entity rather than a physical manifistation. It is how God works indirectly, such as getting a person stuck in traffic so they avoid an accident that would take their life prematurely. There's more to it than that but I'm trying to make this as relatable to others as possible.

4. We believe in the teachings of The Old Testament (before Jesus) and The New Testament (during and after the life of Jesus) however we lean more torwards The New Testament.

5. Jesus died for our sins. Humanity was on a downward spiral and so Jesus (the human manifestation of God) came into the world and used his time on Earth to put us back on the right track and not further away from God.

Thanks, guys. I think asking real people is always more helpful than just Googling something.
