Story:

Kid Icarus: Uprising takes place 20 years after the events of the first Kid icarus. We see Medusa, the Goddess of Darkness who somehow returns. Only this time, she's out for revenge against PIt and Lady Palutina. So Pit and Palutina are set out to once again save the day from the evil forces of Medusa. Pit will also utilize the ability of flight granted by Palutina. Which is called the "Power of Flight" to help him fly around to places and fight enemies. But, he also dicovers that there is a doppleganger of him called dark Pit. Who starts to develope a love-hate relationship with the origional Pit

Gameplay:

I find the gameplay to be a little difficult and tricky to master when you play the game for the first time. it can be very hard to learn how to move, shoot, and dodge with the controls that have been made for the game. But after I've practiced in the training room, I got the hang of it and it instintly become a great way for me to control Pit. I was able to defeat the first boss (Twinbellows) in a mere 15 seconds on my first try thanks to practing. Though, he may have been easy for every other player as well. But the gameplay is really quick and fun But for those who have lacked having any practice with the controls, then it might be a little hard for you to aim and dodge (unless you have the CPP).

Presentation:

The story is really amazing. I really like how it has a bit of a comical feel to it to stray it from feeling like the plot will be dark. And I really love how Palutina explains the controls really well before going on the first mission. I found it quite useful for those who haven''t read the controls on their game manual. it has a great mixture of comedy and a little bit of that dark feeling. Love the way the the bottom screen is used for both aiming and watching the reaction sprites if the characters. I also love how some of the characters have a silly side. Like Palutina for example. in the very first trailer (the E3 2010 trialer) she sounded very lifeless and serious. But in the final game she sounds like she has a lot of emotion and a bit of a comical side. I really laughed at how she called Magnus a jerk and he dissed Palutina and doing her job.

Verdict:

I give this game a 9.0 for great graphics, great dialogue, but tricky controls.

So, what did you think of this review? Was it good, was it bad, or was it decent? Did I miss anything important? Please, give me your opinions on what you think of this review and the game itself.

Your review, in my opinion, is totally accurate :)

Good so far.

But for those who don't like playing w/ the stylus, you can change your controls and use the A/B/X/Y buttons to aim instead.

It's a really good review and i totally agree the controls are tricky I was staring at a person playing it i personally would forget to use some of the controls from time to time.

(unless you have the CPP).

I hate how reviewers don't know what's in the game that they're reviewing. You should get my point by now.

That's it, now I HAVE to get this game. Have you tried the multiplayer yet? Is it WiFi or Wireless?

It's pretty much both.

Cool! I'm gonna get it as soon as I can!

Heh, just came here to do one of these. Meh, no point in having two of the same thread. If you don't mind, I would like to add a little.

Multiplayer

Multiplayer can be played locally or online. There are two modes to be played, Free for All and Dark vs. Light. Free for All is exactly what the name implies, everyone trying to kill everyone else to rack up the most points and obtain first place. Dark vs Light is basically a team deathmatch style game. There are two teams, Dark and Light. However, this isn't exactly the team death match you may know. Not only does each player have a HP bar, but there are Team HP bars as well. Every time someone dies, HP is depleted from their team's HP bar. Once the team HP bar reaches zero, the last person to have died becomes either Pit or Dark Pit. If you are Pit, you want to survive, as if you die your team losses. In addition, once Pit joins the team, the team HP bar refills. If the HP bar is depleted again, the game is over. The more powerful your weapon, the more HP your team losses when you die. So if you are going to use a powerful weapon, be sure to stay alive.

Playing online is quick, addicting, fun, and easy. I would recommend getting use to the game before attempting multiplayer, as it is very frantic and chaotic. There is little to no lag (even on my terribly slow internet), though the framerate may dip sometimes (but not very often), especially when you have multiple explosions/shooting/melee going on at once. You will need to make good use of your abilities (which you get as rewards during both multiplayer and singleplayer modes), as not only will they help you stay alive, they can cause all sorts of trouble for your opponents. Whether it be poisoning, messing up their aim, summoning meteors to rain down upon them, or etc., abilities are an important part of every online battle.

Weapons and Abilites

Weapons are pretty straight forward. You have nine types of weapons: Blades, Staves, Claws, Cannons, Arms, Palms, Orbitars, Clubs, and Bows. All of them have unique stats, some excel in Ranged combat, some in Melee, and others are balanced for both. Each weapons is also able to have up to six different stat boosts or abilities applied to them. These are either on the weapon when found or purchase, or are passed on through fusion.

Weapon fusion is the main way to gain more powerful weapons. Basically, you combine two weapons together to make new weapons. You are able to see what each combination will make before you fuse them, so no worrying about whether you are about to waste a powerful weapon or not. Be careful when fusing, because just because you are fusing something with a powerful weapon, doesn't mean that the resulting weapon will be more powerful. Also, you may want to see what bonuses are going to be passed on, as some weapons have bonuses that you definitely don't want to use.

Abilities are gained as rewards during both single and multiplayer modes. Abilities range from special attacks, applying statuses such as poison, to abilities such as jumping and healing. However, you can't just apply abilities freely. You must equip your abilities on a grid (very much like the panel system in 358/2 Days). You may not be able to bring all the abilities you want. Experiment and find abilities that work for you. You can have up to four different set ups for single player mode, and sixteen for multiplayer.

Gameplay

Tails pretty much covered it. I just want to add that at first your hand might get sore or painful when playing. However, after about ten to twenty minutes of play time, this should no longer be a problem. If you are playing for extended periods of time, you may develop the "Icarus Claw" in which your hand gets pretty much stuck due to the position need to hold the system. When done playing, the "Icarus Claw" will go away within a minute. Also, if you are like me and use the pinky finger of your aiming hand to help hold the system, it may get stuck as well. Will go away within a minute. Neither of these conditions are painful at all.

The Stand

The stand is sturdy, and it has rubber grips that hold your 3DS firmly in place. The stand is small, so you may need a high table/desk or low chair to use it effectively depending on height.

AR

The cards may take a while to load initially, but they work great. It works great, and by facing the cards towards each other you can make the characters on them battle. Pictures can be taken and saved on the SD card.

Verdict (not going to cover what Tails already did)

9/10. Looks great, plays great (after getting use to it), and a good amount of content. The online play is great fun. Heck, fusing weapons and making ability/weapon sets to use online is even fun. May make your hands tired or sore.

Well, I just got the game! The AR cards I got were Pit, Palutena, Magnus, Ore Club Twinbellows the Ferocious, and Mik. Plus, I had Power of Flight from Gameinformer. Getting ready to play it now, though I can't try the online because the internet is buggy with my 3DS.

I'm on Ch 12 and the game is great!

I got Pit, Palutena, Medusa, Dark Lord Gaul, That green-flying Piranha Plant looking thing, and the Violet Palm.
