why does YMX uses a keyblade against riku while in BBS he uses star wars glowing sticks

Because if he used a keyblade in BBS, it would just be way too obvious who he was. Noruma just had to let the Plutonort theories come up.

I honestly don't think Nomura knew what he was doing. After all, the series isn't layed out from beginning to end. He just writes as he goes along.

Well, like Keyblade King said, if BBS YMX used a keyblade, people would get crazy and would know who he was.

And also, maybe, like Xemnas, he could wield a Keyblade, but didn't knew how to. Maybe it's not the YMX we know, and some other one from other time line.
