(Although it was never specified in FF: Incarcerated, this RP takes place in NYC. For me, at least. I'll probably leave anyway.)

Callum turned off the TV and looked at his clock. It was 2:00 A.M. He couldn't sleep ever since he learned a powerful game villain was inside him. Vanitas. Ever since Vanitas possessed him (If he did, maybe he was in there since birth, so gained influence) Callum had been a jerk. He didn't have any friends now. I hate you, Vanitas! He heard a scoff. Really? Do you? Callum summoned his keyblade. "I won't let this take me over. Vanitas, you won't win." His void gear looked ominous. Too ominous.

Joy closed his eyes. Wait. I used to live in this apartment building, too. Joy called out to his friends, "I think I have stuff still in my apartment. I'll be back." (Sorry, only to delay Joy and Mariah's true meeting even further.) He ran up the stairs into his old apartment, the one he hadn't been in for a year now. It was in the same building as Mariah's. He remembered meeting her, right down at the street. He gathered his PSP, DS, and PS3 (Hey, he could dream that there was a TV where they were going, right?) into a bag, along with his old laptop and some clothes into a bag. He looked out the window, where he could also see James's house, the one that was a burning wreckage before.

Keilani blushed a little. 'Sounds awesome! ...So is this a date?'

"Alright then," Scott said smiling. He put the car into drive and started heading towards the inhabiters. This was going to be the day.

Joy finished up, and got to the stairs as he saw one of the guys drive up to apparently pick them up. He walked outside, and smiled. This really was a nice day, and he felt good. He out his stuff down, and waited. So, Cloud, you still there, or are you dead? he joked. So funny, Cloud responded. You should be a comedian.

Alex turned on his phone, but when he tried to go to his contacts, and small red screen appeared. 'What the? What's going on. Well thats peachy. I cant get my phone to work.'

'Alex, i have a feeling that we will met more inhabiters.'

'I agree Roxas.'

(Alright everyone, brace yourselves for some potentially extreme love-triangle drama. )

 

Mariah was surprised to see so many people out in front of the building. “Wow...there are more here than I thought,” she commented. That was when she saw him from the back. She stopped dead in her tracks and the color drained from her face, as if she was seeing a ghost. I'm hallucinating, she thought. Why?! What is wrong with me?! She felt like she couldn't breathe, and the crushing gravity of some unseen force brought her to her knees.

Joy turned, and his heart stopped. He shouldn't have been surprised. He knew she live here, but he was surprised nonetheless. He swallowed hard, and watched her on her knees. She looked like she was seeing a ghost. He knew it was him she saw. After all, he was supposed to be dead. Then he saw James with her. He narrowed his eyes, trying to act mad. But he knew it would have happened eventually.

"What's wrong Mariah?" James said, getting on his knees next to her. "Are you alright?" He was worried about her.

"Oh shit...quick distractions...distractions...." Felix muttered to himself, then he knew what to do and yelled" Hey! Rebekah! I need help with the bus ASAP!" It would get her away from Joy, and he could console her into not feeling guilty.

'Hey Felix think i can help too, right now, my phone just got busted and i have nothing better to do?'

Mariah gasped when Joy turned and looked at her. He appeared...angry. Why? Then she realized she was still clinging to James's hand. She still didn't believe Joy was real, though. She took her hand away from James's and put both her hands on top of her head, eyes wide, looking down at the ground and breathing heavily. She didn't even hear James's question. I'm going crazy, she thought. I haven't let go of Joy, and now that I'm with James, I'm having these visions.

 

“Mariah...” Tifa said.

 

Tifa? Where have you been?

 

“Mariah, you need to get a hold of yourself,” Tifa said as soothingly as she could.“Joy is really there.”

 

That's what you told me when I saw him yesterday. He's dead!! Geez, you must be a hallucination, too, because I've never known you to lie to me like this!

 

Tifa felt a little hurt, but she kept speaking gently, and this time had an edge of urgency to her voice as well. “I'm not lying to you. Please believe me. Joy is right there. He is!”

 

If he really is, then why didn't you say something to me yesterday when I became convinced once again that he was dead?

 

There was a pause. “...I didn't want you to get hurt,” was all she could say in response.

 

Mariah looked back up at Joy, putting her hands in her lap. It's really him...? she thought. At that moment, all she could do was bury her face in her hands and weep.

Rebekah turned her head to Felix, wondering what all the fuss was about. That was when she saw Mariah, on her knees, sobbing. And Joy was looking right at her. She wanted to run to Mariah and help her, but how could she possibly help at this point? Part of this was still her fault. Her own eyes filled with tears and she blinked them back. The best thing I can do is stay away from Mariah right now, she thought. She clenched her fists and walked towards Felix stiffly to help him with whatever it was he was calling her for, trying to act normal.

Joy turned. "I think we need to get a move on. No use hanging around here more than we have to." Callum looked at Joy. "Joy...what are you doing? She's..." Joy looked at him. "I..just want to leave that all behind. I thought....she's with him now. I see it. They deserve each other. Can we please get out of here before anymore drama happens?" Callum shook his head. "I thought I knew you better." Joy walked past him. "Like you know me at all."

"You need me to help? I know what you gotta do, I wanna help....she's family, she will understand what you were trying to do, but I'll take the hits for you I just want to help," he said, he patted her back and smirked. "Ready to watch me get knocked out?" he asked. He put his hand on her shoulder and nodded towards Mariah. "Let's go," he said. 'Confidence boosting!!' he thought.

"Mariah?" James asked, still worried. James, look ahead. Riku said. James did so and saw Joy. "Oh no." he said. "Joy is here."

“Mariah!” Tifa said. “He's leaving! Go after him!”

 

“Why?” she screamed out loud, not caring who heard her. “So that he can just leave me again?!”

 

“You love him, don't you? Just go after him. Let him know you haven't forgotten him. If he leaves you again...well, we'll see.” Tifa sounded concerned at this last part.

 

Mariah tilted her head up, and slowly got to her feet. She had forgotten James completely for the moment. She filled her lungs with air and burst into a sprint, catching up to Joy and crashing into him from behind, clinging to him. “Please...don't leave me,” she whispered. “I'm sorry, Joy. I'm...so sorry.” The tears came again.

As Troy was walking to the corner where he'd met Keilani, he asked himself about the text she'd sent him. Was it really a date? They'd just met a day ago, after all. But what else could it be? He really liked this girl and wanted to get to know her better. The fact that she had an inhabitor like him and that they got so well was just icing on the cupcake. When he tried to text her back, however, the screen turned red. "Ah well," he said to Ven. "I guess we'll just have to wait here for them."

James reached his arm out for her and was about to go after her, but stopped. "I knew this would happen." he said. "She always did like him more than me." He put his arm down and a wing appeared on his back, a power he retained from being inhabited by Sephiroth. "I hope you two are happy together." he said, a single tear rolling down his cheek and dropping to the ground before the wing flapped and he flew off to face whatever was in store for them alone. "Maybe this time I'll die and stay dead." he muttered to himself.

Keilani was a little concerned when she didn't receive a message back from Troy, but then the screen on her phone went red, and she wondered if that was Troy's reason for not answering her. She hoped it wasn't just because her question scared him off. She shrugged. I guess we'll find out... she thought. She walked to the corner he had been talking about and, to her relief, spotted him waiting for her there. She grinned and waved at him as she quickly approached him.
