[SPOILER] Could this have come from the Ansem Reports?

Posted

My first thread.

Anyone thinks the time travel plot could have come from the Ansem Reports? I mean, look at Report 12:

I have transcended to an existence of only the heart. I should have come back as a Heartless, but there is no sign of such a transformation.

My body has surely perished. However, I am different from the other Heartless, keeping the memories of before, and I have not taken on the form of a Heartless.

It is evident that there are still many things to be studied.

In order to cross over to the dark realm, which is not this world, you must go beyond the door of Kingdom Hearts, the heart of all worlds.

The core connected to the world's heart, the place that will take me to the world of darkness. (I will record the details in another report...)

There are still so many unknown worlds.

The Realm of the present...The Realm of Darkness. The Realm of Light.

And, The Realm of In-Between.

In which one does true paradise lie, I wonder?

So, anyone thinks Nomura came up with time travel after remembering the Ansem Reports? We know that Nobodies were foreshadowed in the Ansem Reports, and the questions about what is the Keyblade also were, but some things such as "The Realm of the present", and "paradise" were never touched again (or I at least don't recall anything else about "paradise").

Do you think Nomura is going to explore this more in KHIII? By tradition every numbered title brings a new creature, so perhaps we could have beings that can cross time freely? Maybe Xehanort ceased being human in his youth when he gained the power to time travel.

You know, even thought we know that it's not actually true, sometimes it's almost as if Nomura made all the laws of the KH universe from the very beginning and decided to not explore all of them at once because it would be too much for a single game. He admittedly thinks of future games very early.

I don't think he originally planned on it, but he may have used that when coming up with the idea. Nice find!

Speaking of the previous titles, about when do you start thinking of the ‘next title’?

Nomura: It’s a gradual process. When Kingdom Hearts was in production, I was considering ideas for Kingdom Hearts II and Chain of Memories. And when those two were in production, I was thinking of ideas for the next three, 358/2 Days, Coded, and Birth by Sleep.

Based off his own words, no ..He had to have started thinking of DDD after all the others.

It's possible that he looked back on Kingdom Hearts 1 and got the idea for time travel from that. But like lea_lives said, Nomura hadn't planned DDD from the beginning.

Well, he could have had the idea after remembering the contents of the Ansem Report. Nothing stops him from coming up with ideas based on what was said in previous games. The Ansem Reports questioned what was the Keyblade, and BBS addressed that.

Basically, he could have made a vague mention of something (in this case, the Realm of the present), and then years later decided to make a plot based on that (in this case, time travel). Mangakas do it all the time.

I know that, I just said that sometimes it looks like the laws of the KH Universe were all planned from start.

I agree. This is possible . I also think he retconned some things to fit the new plot IMO ( for example how the apprentices lost their hearts )
