The PS3 sequel will take place one year after the original. Characters introduced in a trailer shown at the event include main character Ludgar, his cat Lulu, and a little girl who's said to be the key to the story, Elle. (Note: In an earlier version of this story, it was believed that Elle is a main character like Ludgar. This appears to be incorrect. It's unclear if the game uses a dual main character system like the first Xillia).

You'll be able to make key choices with Ludgar using L1 and R1. One passage in the trailer involves a decision about using tomatoes in a recipe -- Elle apparently hates tomatoes. Another sequence shows a decision with greater effect -- you're given a choice of facing off against the enemy or backing off. The event proceeds differently depending on your selection

During battle, Ludgar has a special "weapon shift" ability. He can switch between different weapons, including hammer, dual pistols and dual swords.

Ayumi Hamasaki will once again do the theme song honors on Xillia 2. Animation is being handled by Ufotable once again.

Although a Winter 2012 release time period was announced at today's broadcast, we'll get a specific date and price on June 27.
An official site for the new game will be opened shortly at tox2.tales-ch.jp.

Now if they could just localize both of them

Sadly, it's unlikely that they will release both this and the first XIllia. As you know,

JRPG'S aren't selling too well in the west. Which is mostly due to awesome people in America who don't know what a good game is even if it hit them on the arse. This is why I hate western gamers. All they care about are games like CoD, MW3, Gears, Halo, and any other game that involves shooters.

yeah this is the sad truth,i think that there must be a variety in video games, different games so that one can have plenty of options to choose from

YOU DON'T SHARE THE SAME TASTES AS MEEEE!!!!!!!!

U R SO RETARTED!!!!!!!

Y U NO WEABOO LIKE I AM ??????????????????????????????????

PEOPLE CAN ONLY THINK LIKE ME

It looks good, but sadly I lack a PS3. And the first one hasn't even been localized yet. I hate how there seems to be so much bias against JRPGs now in the US. This is why we can't have nice things, people ruin things for others. Shame too, the Tales of series is pretty good.

i totally agree with you,i think that the gaming industry needs variety in games,i dont hate shooters like cod or halo ,they are great games but we should also support other types of video games like jrpg or adventure games that unfortunately arent going well http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/smiley-confuse.png

I'm well aware of that obviously so you don't need to tell me that, haha

But honestly they only really have themselves to blame imo for pretty shitty marketing on games like that and besides if anyone really wants to play it they can always import it

Sokuho@Hokanko has posted a more detailed summary of Famitsu's big Tales of Xillia 2 feature, which included an interview with Tales series producer Hideo Baba.

Posted Image

Development is currently at 60%

There are still a number of unannounced details regarding gameplay and story.

The new XDR-LMBS battle system is meant to deliver the taste of Graces and Xillia

Elle is the youngest heroine in Tales history. She's also the first heroine to not take part in battle since Tales of Rebirth.

Just because Elle can't be used in battle doesn't mean you're limited to main character Rudger. During battle, you'll be able to select the party member you'd like to control. Each member has different specialties.

While Ufotable and Ayumi Hamasaki are returning for, respectively, the game's animation and theme song, they're putting in effort to make sure they exceed the original.

Kosuke Fujishima and Mutsumi Inomata, the originals' character designers, will have some involvement in the game. Baba assured that it will be something that will make fans happy.

Rudger's name has some meaning, but this is being kept secret for now.

One major difference from the original: while Xillia was a story about adventuring alongside other characters, in Xillia 2 they want you to feel like you are Rudger.

There's a major path for the story, so you won't be able to branch off into countless paths. However, you will find that the overall impression and your method for progress changes greatly depending on your choices.

The theme of "Are you prepared to destroy the world" is not just related to the story, but to the gameplay as well. The gameplay systems are made so that you'll feel the meaning of your choices.

Will you head to Liese Maxia, the setting of the original? Baba wouldn't say for sure but he did say that they're hoping to meet fan expectations and we should wait for a followup report.

The story of Xilia 2 begins in the city of Trigraf, which in addition to being home to main character Rudger, is also home to the rapidly growing Klanspia Company (we may have gotten the name wrong in our first report) .

As detailed earlier, Klanspia is a major corporation that commands top share in a number of fields.

A new commercial has recently begun airing for Tales of Xillia 2 which gives us a sneak peek of anime footage directly from studio ufotable, who originally did the animation for its predecessor. This marks the start of the franchise's very first seven part weekly ad campaign.

Tales of Xillia 2 is a sequel to the original Tales of Xillia and takes place a year after its conclusion. The sequel features an improved battle system which allows the player to switch between different weapon styles at-will during battle. Direct choices can now be made during specific cutscenes similar to Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIII-2 which affects the outcome of the events in real-time.

The last few seconds of the ad tell us whats in store for the pre-orders, which will cost 8,380 yen (around US $105) and includes three downloadable costumes (one of which is an Emil costume for Ludger), 17 custom PS3 themes, a Tales of Xillia 2 -Before Episode- novel and an art book. Of course, if you want the complete package you can also pick up an official Tales of Xillia 2 controller that can be added to the final total for 12,980 yen or $163 American dollars.
