Posted June 24, 201213 yr I'm getting my first iDevice as a graduation present, and I want to get an iPhone. I have some questions. What should I be looking for? What data plans are best? How does the internet work? How do I protect it once I get it? What would you recommend? I don't have and iDevices so I'm kinda clueless. I'm going to a college with free Wi-Fi, but I want to use it's internet features elsewhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Here's how I'll feel if you help me:
June 24, 201213 yr Well, It depends on which Apple product you want to get. Iphone, Ipad, or the Ipod.
June 24, 201213 yr Will you be downloading alot of apps? - If you are, I recommend getting the 64GB if you are taking pictures, videos, and downloading apps. Data plans may vary from where you are living in because I'm not living in the same country as you so it depends on the usage you are using like Facebook, Twitter, Web browsing, etc.. Internet? you can use 3G or Wifi. 3G depends on the service provider you are using. Protect it? as in from dropping it and claiming warranty? Get the apple extend security thingy for safety measures but of course that will cost you more. In the end it depends if you are using it to download a lot of apps and taking a lot of pictures and videos. If you are just a normal user that download few apps and taking pics, get the 32gb. if you are using it for the long haul(2-3 years), get the 64GB. If you are an even more patience person, you can wait for the latest iPhone to be release sometime between October-November if I'm not mistaken.
June 24, 201213 yr Author Responded in the quote in RED. Will you be downloading alot of apps? - If you are, I recommend getting the 64GB if you are taking pictures, videos, and downloading apps. I don't plan on many. Just photos, videos, and the occasional game (FF Dimensions). Data plans may vary from where you are living in because I'm not living in the same country as you so it depends on the usage you are using like Facebook, Twitter, Web browsing, etc.. True Internet? you can use 3G or Wifi. 3G depends on the service provider you are using. Probably Verizon. What is proven to be more useful? Protect it? as in from dropping it and claiming warranty? Get the apple extend security thingy for safety measures but of course that will cost you more. Good idea; I'm a klutz. In the end it depends if you are using it to download a lot of apps and taking a lot of pictures and videos. If you are just a normal user that download few apps and taking pics, get the 32gb. if you are using it for the long haul(2-3 years), get the 64GB. Probably two years. If you are an even more patience person, you can wait for the latest iPhone to be release sometime between October-November if I'm not mistaken. My parents want to send me to college with it, so I guess not. Thanks for the help! What's the difference between getting the old model for free, or the newer one for $200-400. Is the difference really that drastic?
June 25, 201213 yr Thanks for the help! What's the difference between getting the old model for free, or the newer one for $200-400. Is the difference really that drastic? 32GB seems to be more of your kind. I've heard nothing but good things about Verison so like I said. I'm not living on the same country as you are. It depends. If you update your phone weekly like putting pictures and videos to your computer and delete your photos and videos from your phone, you should be fine with 32GB. Only thing you must remember that, if you don't really plan on using 3G so much outdoors, make sure you off it, as it drains the iphone battery quickly. Old model? you mean the 3GS? Obviously the newer model is faster, better screen, and more smooth when playing games. I really recommend you get the newer model if you want your games to be played smooth. Other than that, you're good to go!
