I keep hearing people bitch about Final Fantasy VII saying it's boring and has shitass pixelated graphics.

 

What these morons fail to realize is that this is a game back from the earlier days of console gaming. I'm hearing most of these pathetic morons rant on a 15 year old game on amazon.com and GameFAQ's.

 

I have the game. There's nothing for bad I can say about it. The only think I would disagree with is that it's graphics totally stand out from other PSOne games.

 

So what's up with the hate? Not too many people like Final Fantasy VII these days.

It's an over-rated game that's why.

 

Play Final Fantasy IX, VI, VIII and maybe even IV, XII or X.

 

It's a good game at best but jesus tap dancing christ it is not the best Final Fantasy game ever made. That's why it gets hate from certain people. It gets praise for having a bad ass villain and a whiny protagonist... To this day I have no idea what the story even was because I went into the game thinking it was going to be spectacular and it really wasn't so I just didn't find it in me to care. I beat it and haven't played it since.

 

It's still one of the best, and a well made RPG to boot

Wow. I recently got FFVII on my PSP, and it's actually not that bad. Though the graphics may not be the best, it is still an awesome game. I'm playing it because I loved the shit out of Crisis Core. 83

I did say it was a good game at best. I just think people need to stop stating it as a fact that it is the best Final Fantasy. Even Square Enix won't remake the thing until they make a FF that exceeds VII, which is just stupid because they have already made better Final Fantasies since VII was released.

Oh well if critical praise is all it needs then Final Fantasy IX did that, it was let down by sales but it still sold a lot.

And I know a bunch of people who have heard of IX. To be honest if you look at the series as a whole VII is more known because it gets far more games (and even a film) attached to it not because it is a far better game in the series.

Knowing a bunch of people is not the same as being part of public conscience. Stop using such colloquial measurements, that's not how things work. When it comes down to it, I could go to a random person and ask them who Sephiroth is, and there is a decent chance that a person will know who he is. The same can't be said of Kuja, or Zidane. VII is part of public knowledge, more so than any other Final Fantasy. Stop judging this solely by your own terms, believe it or not, the world doesn't revolve around you and your beliefs.

Nope. Didn't say that at all. You REALLY need to stop taking one part of my posts and trying to delegitimize the whole thing. It's really not working. If you payed any attention beforehand, this was a discussion about the prerequisites Square Enix was trying to fufill to remake VII. As such

I never once questioned the popularity of VII. It is a very successful part of Final Fantasy and only a fool would say otherwise but I am trying to say that it isn't the best. Some people think it is and some don't. I am one of those that don't. I have pointed out it is a good game at best and I have never once shouted a bunch of hate against the game or the people like it.

You are right when IX isn't any where near the popularity of VII and heck I reckon more people know about Yuffie and Cid than Vivi and Zidane but I just don't think because of the popularity it is therefore a far better game. I hate to even mention the fps genre but it's like saying CoD is the best fps because it is the more well known one when everyone knows that isn't true.

I also have not even tried to keep a pointless argument going because quiet frankly I don't care, I know that I prefer other FF's over VII so I really don't care.

I can see why Final Fantasy VII was so famous and well- received back when it was made. It has a good storyline, unique characters for it's time, outstanding graphics for it's time and good music for it's time.

It would of shocked players off the sofa in surprise because of how amazing it looked and sounded back then. However today the graphics look like lego blocks, the sound is midi sounding and the storyline and character design is no longer unique, so when a newer player comes along the new player is going to think " Why is this so great " ?

 

The times have changed fans are now no longer impressed by how Final Fantasy VII looks and sounds because it has aged and now it has wrinkles and crows feet. It's not a bad game, not at all but the reasons why it was so outstanding when it first was born are now fading away.

 

You could say " Then how come FF VI and FF IV have so much fans then " ? It's because I really believe that Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts players these days; love story and those games are just melting in rich storytelling. While Final Fantasy VII tries too hard to be cool and hip and look impressive then focus on a deep story. Yes it does have a complexed story, but it's filled with holes.
