Friend wants to get into Kingdom Hearts, in what order should he play the games?

Posted

I have a friend that wants to play Kingdom Hearts in its entirety after I showed him the last 6 or so hours of the game. Considering how many few moments that make sense or aren't completely redundant exist in this franchise, what will be the best order to play the games?

Playing the games in the order they came out could work at the expense of making the older games make less sense, but the newer games leave more of an impact.

Following the game's timeline would make things less confusing, but would probably spoil some parts of the game... somehow....

Also, there are a few games that I feel should be left out entirely as they have been remade into a better version, or don't really serve the plot at all.

So, any advice?

You need three consoles in total to play every KH; a 3DS, a PS2 and a PSP

And each game besides DDD weighs in a 20 dollars or less.

Well, excuse me for not buying all the consoles. I'm not going to buy one console solely for KH. My parents (mostly my mom) would just complain about how much stuff we have in the house and how it's expensive. I don't live in the States, so everything's a bit more expensive up here in Canada.

I'm Canadian as well.

We pay the same price for everything game related.

And uh... why buy a console just for one game? There are plenty of a great games for all of those systems...

Its really up to you man, but make sure you have him play KH1 above all, but you should really have him play it in the order they came out. And also, have him play re:CoM instead of CoM.

He could play it in the way they were released, but if he ever decides to play it in chronological order:

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep (PSP)

Kingdom Hearts (PS2)

Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days (DS) - stop at Day 21 when Saix tells you the Organization XIII members left

Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories (PS2)

Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days (DS) - continue playing

Kingdom Hearts II (PS2)

Kingdom Hearts Re: Coded (DS)

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance (3DS)

Thanks alot for that helpful post, now I can play the games in chronological order, whenever I get around to re-playing the series.

tutti frutti. I would say to have your friend play it in the order that the game came out. I find that KH1 through KH2 helps have a basis on what happens, kind of likea checkpoint I guess.

Does your friend have all the consoles needed for the entire franchise?
