There is only regional lockout for Nintendo 3DS, DSi-Ware, and Nintendo DSi-enhanced software between Japan, America and Europe/Australia, DS games are unaffected and will play as normal.

What is available in the eShop differs between regions.

To check the system version, go to the home screen and open "System Settings." Then look at the top screen—the system version will be in the lower right.

so if the 3ds is EU then it will say System Version: EU? right?

does that mean that if my KH days is EU version and my 3ds is from NA it will still work?

At the end of the system version, there will be a letter If it is E, its European/PAL, if it's U, its American/NTSC. For example my firmware version is Ver. 4.2.0-9E, therefore mine is European/PAL.

You can only buy the game from where the 3DS came from.

You can only buy the game from where the 3DS came from.

Not exactly. It just comes down to region codes like the PS2. Many countries have the same region code.

For example I own Australian consoles but I can import games from Europe and South America and play them fine.
