I'm working on a movie based entirely on cliches about RPGs, both in terms of gameplay and story.

I want to cover all of my bases, so any help is appreciated.

Note that I'm looking for more obscure stuff I mightn't missed. I don't need people saying 'Amnesiac hero' or 'Oversized swords' or 'Yaoi rivals'

It's an homage/parody of JRPGs, particularly Final Fantasy. Original characters, but they are all homages to characters from other games

The idea stemmed from a person complaining that the Final Fantasy movies weren't similar enough to the games; this is the logical extreme :P

I've got the basic dynamics done: The main character is a hot blooded guy who's not that smart but has a strong sense of justice. His best friend is a soft spoken magic girl who must sacrifice herself to save the world, unbeknownst to him. He has an emo rival. There's an evil empire (And emperor) with a gneral who is loyal to the emperor, but questions whether what he is doing is right.

Etc. etc.

You can only have five different kinds of random enemies. Any thing else is just a color variation of these enemies with new names. In addition, anything that's mildly surprising has to be treated as though it's an enormous plot twist (complete with exaggerated gasping).

Thanks. Didn't actually think of either of those :)

There must be flashback which explains protagonist and his rival's past

There must be atleast one egocentric guy who always does stuff without thinking
