This story takes place half a century prior to the tales that would be woven by the pupils of Eraquas. The one named Xehanort was only just beginning to learn of the power he possessed, the keyblade was thing that had long lapsed into the abyss of legends and myths, and the gates between worlds were still shut. Yet even prior to the dark faerie Malificient gaining knowledge more dangerous than even she might know, the kingdom known as the Radiant Garden knew the hardships of tyranny. Though the blissfully beautiful Gardens never lost their graceful image, the hearts and minds of its people were darkened by the presence of a cruel master.

The one who bore the name Mateus came first to the people with words of comfort and wisdom, the council he offered only further illuminating his splendour, and the people were pleased to have him. When the time came to select a new ruler for the Garden, Mateus was deemed the obvious candidate, and was given the mantle without competition. It was then that Mateus’s true mind was revealed. Ensuring his power was secure through the forming of a personal body guard and army, he declared himself Emperor, and as he held the Radiant Garden within his grip, he began to squeeze upon it. The freedom of speech was disavowed, and those who would speak ill against the Emperor were first imprisoned, later executed. Public gatherings were discouraged, and any and all forms of physical power were monopolized by the Guard. Slowly, the bliss of Radiant Garden vanished, the beauty of the flowers becoming only a cruel mockery of the misery of the citizens.

Yet even with all the kingdom at his control, even the most idle citizen might get the idea that the Emperor is up to something. The armed guard have been patrolling the streets on an alarming basis, and searches of houses and buildings have become more and more frequent. Confirming suspicions, a poster has begun to be placed on the city walls asking for information of the whereabouts of a certain Dr. Cid, a well renowned scientist who, at least until recently, was often seen about the palace and was thought to be on Mateus’s good side.

It is in this realm held by the Emperor that you find yourself. Do you stand idly by whilst Mateus has his way? Or do you seek to restore the Radiant Garden to its true splendour, untainted and pure?

RP Outline: The structure of this RP is going to be a bit more structured around a central plot than a lot of the free-flow RPs on the site. What this means is that I, as DM, will be guiding and steering the plot along, describing key events and distributing the encounters and battles that you face. This doesn’t mean that I’ll be sticking you all on the plot-railroad, making you do what I say; It just means that I will be acting as something of a narrator and giving you plot points to work around and develop on.

General Rules:

  • There is a one character per person limit for this. This is mostly to ensure that the player can keep focused on one arc and give it their full attention. Remember, this is your character, so give it all the tender loving care that it deserves.
  • While I’m not an incredible stickler for grammar, do try and keep the spelling and grammar tolerable. My main concern is with quotation marks. I need to know when your character is talking and when they’re having inner monologues.
  • Try and avoid the dreaded one-line posts. While you don’t need to write a novel every time, it’s a good idea to keep your posts at least three sentences long. Don’t limit yourself to just saying a line of dialogue: what is your character thinking about the situation around them? What are they experiencing? What are they doing? There’s always plenty to write about.
  • No God Moding. Be able, but don’t be invincible.

RP Specific Rules:

  • Your character must live in Radiant Garden. Remember that the doors between worlds have not been discovered.
  • You start at LEVEL 1! What that means is you can’t just up and start using Dark Firaga, Zantezuken, or any of the master level moves right out of the gate. You get THREE abilities and/or spells starting off, and they must be at a beginners’ level (so Blizzard instead of Blizziga, Strike Raid instead of Zantezuken). This is to help avoid god moding, and also to make your own journey worthwhile. Won’t you feel like more of a Master if you had to work your way up from the bottom? Don’t worry, rewards and leveling up will be available as the plot goes on...
  • No Keyblades. Not only are they very rare at this point in time in history, but there is a good plot reason why Keyblades aren’t a sight commonly seen.
  • I will be acting as DM, which means that I will be controlling the NPC enemies and encounters you run into. This means that the enemies you fight won’t just be mindless, giving you a far better fight than if you had just been battling air, as well as helping to give the RP more structure and avoid bad guys just leaping out of mid air.

I have a few questions: When you say abilities, does that include things like Second Chance, Finish Boost, Fire Boost, stuff like that? Or is this a strictly command deck type affair?

Second, I'd like to know a bit more about the world to give my character some more context, any little details could help. I mean like, are there any regular guards? The citizens aren't free, but do they have leisure time or entertainment? Or is this more of a slave labour type scenario?

More along the lines of a command deck. In retrospect, I should have said commands instead of abilities.

The situation is more one of a police state. No one is being forced into labor, but there is a constant reminder of the Emperor's watch in the form of the Imperial Guard marching about the Garden. Things like the mail are censored heavily, free speech is discouraged, and in order to try and prevent organized uprisings, the Guard has taken to doing raids on areas of suspicion. Other than walking on egg shells, though, life still goes on. The market is still alive and well, and people are free to walk about town and go about their daily lives, so long as they aren't doing anything suspicious or counter to the state. It's a matter of living knowing that what you're doing will be watched, but you're still very much allowed to live. Evidence of this can be seen in how the Radiant Garden still resembles it's more visually appealing version in BBS, rather than the blasted and broken version found in KHII.

The brutatlity of the Imperial Guard and how they go about their business depends on who is in command of them. The Emperor has several Captains (who, in true Radiant Garden fashion, will include more than a few notable cameos), and they hold the authority to do what they will. The system of government is a bit like in FFXII, where the Emperor is the one in charge, but the Judges hold a lot of sway and authority on the ground level.

Also, in canon with the KH universe, Radiant Garden is essentially where the Final Fantasy characters live. This means that things like magic and swordplay are widely accepted as state-of-the-union. While you can't play as canon characters, your characters are more than permitted to have relationships or knowledge of other FF characters, though keep in mind that this is fifty years prior to Birth By Sleep, so Cloud, Leon, Yuffie, and others are not alive yet.

Edit: In case it helps with developing a character's backstory at all, the Judges the Emperor employs are Beatrix, Kuja, Rubicante, Kefka, and Celes.

Very interesting plot, and I feel like I can actually mange something like this for a while. Time to experiment!:

Name: Akimoto (This line is stuck in bold for some reason)

Gender: Male

Age: 15 (I've been told I act somewhat close to this age so wynaut

Physical Description: 5'8, healthy man, can get out of tight situations

Class: Mage (I've always been interested on the topic of Magic, and like being a medic whilst playing video games)

Weapon: Hands (Character's hands of course lol)

Abilities (includes Magic):

1. Cure

2. Balloon

3. Aero (KH1, attack reduced by half)

History and Biography: Akimoto likes to helps other out but no one really ever likes him back in return for the deeds he does. He used to sit in the Town Center (where AVT start out in the world in BBS) to just look at the people walk by and the beautiful scenery. Now that Mateus has taken over, no one really visits the center anymore and Akimoto sits there just to pass the time. Even though usually questioned everyday by the guards on patrol, the spot has some importance to him that he doesn't quite understand and, he keeps coming back to it. His parents died from an unknown cause that no one nows about, so he doesn't have a home or goes to Kingdom School. His nickname is the 'Homeless boy of the Garden' for obvious reasons, and gets picked on because of it when the other children walk home from school. It doesn't bother him though, because his heart is a brick wall. Rumor has it that Akimoto's parents death might be related to the new emperor, Mateus, and he has plans to raid the castle because of it.

So, how'd I do? This is my first RP I've ever done so my bad if I f**k something up. Dx
