This story takes place half a century prior to the tales that would be woven by the pupils of Eraquas. The one named Xehanort was only just beginning to learn of the power he possessed, the keyblade was thing that had long lapsed into the abyss of legends and myths, and the gates between worlds were still shut. Yet even prior to the dark faerie Malificient gaining knowledge more dangerous than even she might know, the kingdom known as the Radiant Garden knew the hardships of tyranny. Though the blissfully beautiful Gardens never lost their graceful image, the hearts and minds of its people were darkened by the presence of a cruel master.
The one who bore the name Mateus came first to the people with words of comfort and wisdom, the council he offered only further illuminating his splendour, and the people were pleased to have him. When the time came to select a new ruler for the Garden, Mateus was deemed the obvious candidate, and was given the mantle without competition. It was then that Mateus’s true mind was revealed. Ensuring his power was secure through the forming of a personal body guard and army, he declared himself Emperor, and as he held the Radiant Garden within his grip, he began to squeeze upon it. The freedom of speech was disavowed, and those who would speak ill against the Emperor were first imprisoned, later executed. Public gatherings were discouraged, and any and all forms of physical power were monopolized by the Guard. Slowly, the bliss of Radiant Garden vanished, the beauty of the flowers becoming only a cruel mockery of the misery of the citizens.
Yet even with all the kingdom at his control, even the most idle citizen might get the idea that the Emperor is up to something. The armed guard have been patrolling the streets on an alarming basis, and searches of houses and buildings have become more and more frequent. Confirming suspicions, a poster has begun to be placed on the city walls asking for information of the whereabouts of a certain Dr. Cid, a well renowned scientist who, at least until recently, was often seen about the palace and was thought to be on Mateus’s good side.
It is in this realm held by the Emperor that you find yourself. Do you stand idly by whilst Mateus has his way? Or do you seek to restore the Radiant Garden to its true splendour, untainted and pure?

RP Outline: The structure of this RP is going to be a bit more structured around a central plot than a lot of the free-flow RPs on the site. What this means is that I, as DM, will be guiding and steering the plot along, describing key events and distributing the encounters and battles that you face. This doesn’t mean that I’ll be sticking you all on the plot-railroad, making you do what I say; It just means that I will be acting as something of a narrator and giving you plot points to work around and develop on.
General Rules:
There is a one character per person limit for this. This is mostly to ensure that the player can keep focused on one arc and give it their full attention. Remember, this is your character, so give it all the tender loving care that it deserves.
While I’m not an incredible stickler for grammar, do try and keep the spelling and grammar tolerable. My main concern is with quotation marks. I need to know when your character is talking and when they’re having inner monologues.
Try and avoid the dreaded one-line posts. While you don’t need to write a novel every time, it’s a good idea to keep your posts at least three sentences long. Don’t limit yourself to just saying a line of dialogue: what is your character thinking about the situation around them? What are they experiencing? What are they doing? There’s always plenty to write about.
No God Moding. Be able, but don’t be invincible.
RP Specific Rules:
Your character must live in Radiant Garden. Remember that the doors between worlds have not been discovered.
You start at LEVEL 1! What that means is you can’t just up and start using Dark Firaga, Zantezuken, or any of the master level moves right out of the gate. You get THREE abilities and/or spells starting off, and they must be at a beginners’ level (so Blizzard instead of Blizziga, Strike Raid instead of Zantezuken). This is to help avoid god moding, and also to make your own journey worthwhile. Won’t you feel like more of a Master if you had to work your way up from the bottom? Don’t worry, rewards and leveling up will be available as the plot goes on...
No Keyblades. Not only are they very rare at this point in time in history, but there is a good plot reason why Keyblades aren’t a sight commonly seen.
I will be acting as DM, which means that I will be controlling the NPC enemies and encounters you run into. This means that the enemies you fight won’t just be mindless, giving you a far better fight than if you had just been battling air, as well as helping to give the RP more structure and avoid bad guys just leaping out of mid air.
