Guys, I'm almost literally at the end of Final Fantasy 13, and I always manage to defeat Barthandelus, but when he merges with Orphan, it's almost impossible to kill him! Out of the 6 and a half million health points that he has, I managed to reduce him down to 999,000 health points, but then I died. I've died too many times trying to kill this damn bastard! My best team consists of Lightning, Sazh and Hope, which all have high defense and endurance in battle. And I have good paradigms like Diversity, Hero's Charge, Coordination, and Tri-Disaster among others. I need to beat the game before Christmastime! (Because I asked mom to get me 13-2 for Christmas.) So any help would be really appreciated!!!

1. Just keep casting deprotect. It'll work. It's a chance thing.

2. Once you get get Fang...you can change your part around. Go to Paradigms..and go to battle team and done. Thing is, your paradigms will change.

I recommend Fang, Light and Hope.

Fang is the strongest commando. Light is well balanced in her roles and Hope is the best ravager.

Are you just randomly dying? Two things: The final boss can cause instant death, and if you have a defense lowering status effect on, percent based attacks (Like the missiles) will kill you instantly

I used a very annoying method, but it worked.

 

The team was Fang/Hope/Vanille

 

WHAT???

 

Yeah, but my strategy was to poison Orphan with Fang (or Vanille, I can't remember) and then switch between Relentless Assault and Combat Clinic. When I saw Orphan looking too low, I used Fang's Eidolon for the win.

There's the cheap ass method if you're really desperate. Lightning, Vanille, and Hope(I think). Just cast buffs and debuffs, then cast Poison as Vanille over and over while your other characters continually heal you. There's a 1/40 chance that Poison will work and when it does, it will take a nice chunk off his health. Repeat this pattern about 6 or 7 times.

make sure u have salvation ( med,med,med)

and also the best team for winning on this a$$hole is having vanile and hope with you and any leader (hope and vanile have high magic)

use hope for buffs (equip buff maintenance 2)

and vanile for healing ( equip cure boost)

 

 

i would use use lightning or anyother character who have the sental role to guard while hope is buffing and vanile healing

 

then i'll stager him with all the characters on rav after that its kick a$$ time change to com for lightning (1300 atk) and rav for the other two ( i have hope with 1800 mag and vanile 1500)

 

when ur HP gets low use salvation.

 

and repeat

I had his life down to the syllable tar of the word target! And then I got killed miserably. I did it! I beat the game 2 days ago!!! And when I fought Orphan's true form, I killed it easy with Fang, Hope and Vanille!!! Hell yeah, I finally beat Final Fantasy 13!!! Now I'm playing Final Fantasy 4 while I wait patiently for Christmas to play FF13-2.
