do you only play as roxas in the game or do you also play as other charcters?

You can only be Roxas in main story mode

but you can do mission/multiplayer mode as other organization members and Donald,Goofy,Mickey, (and Sora... I think)

though they don't really play differently........

During the main story you only play as Roxas. In mission mode you can play as other characters.

In the Story Mode, yes, but in Multi-Player Mode, you can play as Roxas, as well as the rest of Org. XIII, plus Xion, Riku, Sora, Donald, Goofy, and a Dual-Wield version of Roxas.

I always play with Sora when I get the chance, mostly for the Dream sword.

 

Keyblades are too mainstream.

Well in the Story mode yes,in the Multiplayer(Mission) mode you can choose from the Organization 13(You can also unlock other characters like Riku,Mickey and others).That's what I can remember from playing it.

 

P.S:In the story mode,in some missions,other characters can also help you(usually Xion and Axel)

Yeah but its really weak and not half as awesome as the one in the final mission.

Story mode Roxas in the Mission mode anyone, (358/2 days is an awesome game) I want Xion back!

On day 369 you can play as Kiari's Grandmother.

^Pff... I wonder what that would be like.

 

My Mission Mode... I never touch it. But there's more characters.
