My first attempt at drawing in "Anime Style"

Posted

I've never tried this before, but I think it's pretty good for a first attempt. This is sort of a self portrait type picture.

Warning: It may be a little big.

What do you guys think of it? On the back, was my second attempt, which was nowhere near as good. In hindsight, I probably should of erased it. Anyways, tell me what you think. Criticism welcome.

Wow, it looks great!  Did you have an example to draw from, or did you just do it from imagination/freehand?  Either way, great job!

I think for a first attempt it's pretty nice! :D Actually kind of cute. Just keep practicing and improving. Can't wait to see future work. :)

It shows potential. You have a nice grasp on a style so I think you should focus on body shapes. (I still can't draw females...)

Analyze them and then try to incorporate it to your style. heh

Thanks! I drew it freehand. The eyes is what I started with, since, in my opinion, they are the staple of Anime.

Yeah, bodies are my problem. (I can't draw female either.)  I need to work on the body, but I think I have everything else down...(except the top of the hair)

It is alright. Keep at it! I spent hours upon hours trying to just draw a neck right, but don't worry reading manga helped me a lot! Try doodling it makes practice easier. I  spent a lot of my childhood just watching anime and reading manga as if I was actually in the world of it try to let you imagination fly my friend!

not gonna bead around the bush.. its awful to be honest.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the eyes.  But, I must ask...you drew the eyes before the head?!?!  I couldn't even imagine doing that; talk about difficult!

Yep. It seemed easier to me.

Honesty is the best policy.

It looks very nice! I think you're going to love drawing. If I may offer a little advice, I think the anatomy could use some work. Anatomy takes lots of practice, but an excellent way to start is by blocking out the shapes of the body before finalizing them. Starting with the shape of the head is a good way to do the proportions. There are a lot of tutorials on the Internet if you need them. Sorry about the huge paragraph, lol. Have fun drawing!
