Remove the like count but still allow posts to be liked - Discuss

Posted

After receiving a positive response from people on my idea awhile ago, I have decided to make a discussion for it.

How about we remove the like count but continue to allow people to like posts.

Removing the like count will remove any/all issues with the like system we've encountered in the past and any potential issues.

A lot of people think it's a good idea to spam likes to increase someone's like count, DChiuch brought it up recently if it's a problem "if a particular member has given 2000+ likes to another particular member." Removing the like count would obviously make this pointless (even though it seems pointless as it is.)

Removing the like count will remove all issues with the system, and in the process will in my opinion improve the usage of likes.

Clearly some people have misunderstood me.

I repeat.

The suggestion is the actual like count is removed.

People will still be able to like other people's posts.

There just wouldn't be a total count.

Who cares about the count?

No one on KH13 has really complained about it before. There haven't been any real arguments about it.

I'm alright with it either way. Just saying. :P

THe point of that would be?

To eliminate any and all issues with the like system. The main issue being people spamming likes just to increase someone's count.

I will admit, I like to see someone like my post. But I don't like it when someone is just spamming likes. It's annoying to have someone spam likes.

Likes are supposed to be given when someone actually likes someone's post. They're not meant to be given out because you're bored or as a joke.

Why does it matter? They're just likes. A fictional little thing over the internet, in which no reward is given. It's not like you win anything for having likes. It isn't the end of the world.

Likes are supposed to be given in which ever way the owner of likes sees fit.

No one ever said they did.

I only want likes when I've actually made a post that person likes.

Having someone like my post means that something I've said they either agree with or just plain like.

If someone likes my post I know that they either agree with me or just plain like it. That's a good thing.

Likes can be a way of improving people's future posts. But spamming likes does not help anyone.

And need anyone forget all the people complaining about reaching their quota. If like counts did not exist spamming would occur a lot less as they would have no reason to spam. And then a lot of people would make better use of their likes.

Why do you care though?

It's their likes. It just increases a number on the internet. There are no prizes. There have been no real issues with it so I need a real reason.

I've made my case.

Plus you're one of the people who spam likes.

Pretty sure those are the reasons most people get their likes. I hardly see like spamming going on around here compared to just someone liking something.

I don't know why someone would spam likes. But I assume it would be just for fun. Isn't that what this website is here for? Fun?

I get likes on my posts. Has it changed in anyway the way I post? No.

People are going to do what they do regardless. When I have talked to people about it, not as many people care about it as you think.

I would start spamming if there were no like counts. Just for the hell of it.

Plus you're one of the people who spam likes.

And your point is?

Well clearly some of you guys like, the like count. Not sure why. Lol.

But I'm just going to lock this since one of you wants an argument.
