California boy murdered neo-Nazi dad, knew it was wrong

Posted
"A California judge ruled Monday that a then 10-year-old boy committed second-degree murder -- and knew what he was doing was wrong -- when he fatally shot his father, a local neo-Nazi leader. Jeffrey Hall was asleep on a couch in his family's Riverside home when his son killed him on May 1, 2011, according to authorities. CNN is not naming the boy, who is now 12, because he is a juvenile. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for February 15, where placement of the boy will be determined. The convicted boy could remain in custody up until his 23rd birthday, though he could be freed sooner or have a number of other living arrangements as determined by the judge, said John Hall."

Bull sheep. It did not happen. Argument is invalid. The kid might not have known how dangerous it was...But on a more serious note...that`s sad.

Sorry but, how would any ten year old kid "not know how dangerous it was"? Coming from someone who does competitive shooting, this kid knew something about guns. He knew the proper magazine to use, proper ammunition, and didn't hurt himself in the process, so obviously had been shooting before. (and also, I don't know any 10 year old kid who would tell you they don't think guns are dangerous. he knew) He may not have been in the right state of mind, and you can certainly argue that. But that he didn't know how dangerous it was? That only works if he was like five or six or seven or something. Also, assuming the unlikely idea that he didn't know, most kids would react screaming MOM HELP and call 911.

God, what a creep of a father.  Honestly, I can't blame the kid too much for killing his father.  He was abusing him and the kid decided to take the upper hand.  He may have known what he was doing, but may have had no idea of the repercussions of killing another human being would do, especially having to listen to his dad's hateful philosophy.  I feel for this kid and hope he gets the psychological support he will need after this.

even though he was 10, he knew what he was doing

This is what come from public schools telling young children to separate from their parents beliefs. If only the kid had also been a Neo-Nazi, he probably wouldn't have killed his father.

I guess he didn't realize that killing his father and getting hauled off for doing so would contribute to the family's break-up as well.

No matter the age, you wont get away with it.
