Good God,at first I was excited when I heard of all the praise this game has got and I bought it from PSN to play it,oooh my dear 9 dollars I wasted on this crap

 

The plot.....the plot of this game is like Sonic 06 before sonic 06 only it's less worse.The plot makes 0 sense the more you progress through the game and I'll give few examples.

 

1Laguna's backstory has no relevant or effect on the overall plot whatsoever.At first you might think this would explain the origins of Squall....but no it barely does that and it doesn't explain any useful thing in the plot except Adel being sealed.

 

2All characters used to live together in the orphanage but no one remembers each other at all because they used GF(summons)....and the only one who remember is Irvine...who couldn't open his mouth through the entire game until near the end when he could've told them MUCH EARLIER.Oh and guess who raised them??? Sorceress Edea ,whom Irvine was fine with assassinating her despite she raised him and the others but because the plot is inconsistent none of that will make sense

 

3The plan to stop Ultimecia from destroying time ....is to let her destroy it so they can reach her castle in the future......How does that make sense????What kind of f*cked up plan is this???And if that plan was obvious all this time then wouldn't that make your struggle through the game meaningless????

 

and the last example:

 

4Ultimecia's reason for destroying time is F*cking stupid...in fact she has no reason at all...she want to compress PastPresentFuture so she would be the only one remaining in existence......No revenge....no conquering the world....no insanity like Kefka(who likes destruction which makes sense)....She just want to be a d*ck.....wow...just wow

 

 

and that's just few of the MANY flaws you can find in this bad excuse of a story.......the characters are even worse

 

Squall is an annoying emo who won't stop bitching through the entire game

 

Zell is dumb more than a Psyduck

 

Seifer joined Edea just because she said "you're just a boy"......REALLY????After along career with SeeD you would think his betrayel would be epic.....but no he just said "I'M NOT A BOY" and he just joined her

 

Selphie is an annoying girl who is just as dumb as Zell

 

Irvine is just there for an additional character in your party and his actions are random and stupid..........uhhhh I don't wanna go furthur....

 

in short....FF8 plot is a Sonic 06 bad...(Now I know from where Sega got the inspiration on how to do a non-sensical plot)

 

And don't get me start on the gameplay and the stupid Junction and Draw systems that makes you stay in your menu for hours and the stupid Draw system that you need in order to obtain Magic and when the magic runs out...you have to do it again....worse part...everytime your party split and unite...you have to change their equipments and junctions over & over & over again everytime your party changes...sure they're fast ways to do it but the fact that you need to do it everytime your party changes is a bullshit chore.

 

Not to mention the boring level design of the dungeons: the Drill jail where Squall was tortured is just identical floor after identical floor after identical floor......y'know what I'm gonna shut up....y'know Spoony....TheSpoony one absolutely despise FF8 and he already done a 9 part review of it but I'm gonna link part 7 of it right here and you're free to see the other parts if you want.

Bottomline....Final Fantasy 8 is one of the worst most boring most reptitive grinding menu scrolling overflown dialouged RPGs I ever played in my entire life....the only thing that saved the game from being a Sonic 06 level of bad is that is doesn't have alot of glitches and some of the music are good

 

 

I know a lot of the FF fanbase will issue a sacred order to kill me for saying my opinion about this game since they don't know the meaning of the word "Opinion" and they'll protect 7 & 8 no matter what and they'll crossify me on FFXIII's logo of shame that they had in their champer but I don't care....I said my opinion...no one is forced to follow it and no one is forced to be offended by it

I've never gotten far enough in the game to say anything for the story... I just know that among all tge Final Fantasies I own, 8 is the only one to fail on all counts in terms of roping me in. From what I've seen so far... the characters are bland, the story is slow, it's confusing, and the firetrucking mutual leveling and draw system makes me want to kick gophers.

Again....this....is ...OPINION.None of what I've said has to be accepted as a fact,you don't like what I've said...fine good for you as long as you respect it....even without spoony I still hate FF8 and I will still hate it but I won't force anybody to do so.

 

 

We have never said that you can't have your opinion on this Metal Snake. We are just saying our opinion. If you hate and dislike Final Fantasy VIII, then kool bro- you hate that game. But we are just saying our opinion on this.

 

I'll keep on hating FF XII and you'll keep on hating FF VIII and others will keep on hating that one Final Fantasy that they just can't stand, whatever numbered title it may be.

 

But none of us have ever said to you " No stop, you can't hate that game ".  " Hating Final Fantasy VIII means 20 years in prison " !!

 

We understand that you don't like it.

 

Though most of what you hate and dislike about the game is sort of wrong facts wise, like Laguna's backstory not being important, Zell having a low IQ and Irvine not being important etc. And Squall being "emo".

Sorry, but anytime the word 'emo' is used to describe Squall, I disregard the review. Just like saying he's a 'copy' of Cloud. No, he's not. Personally I enjoyed Final Fantasy VIII for making me like such a jerk anti-hero as Squall. And for me to like jerk anti-hero, they usually have to be at least okay characters. And while some of the characters are the standard archetypes, I found most of them enjoyable. Now onto your complaints:

Except Adel being sealed is important to the plot? And the fact he is pretty much confirmed (although not directly) to be Squall's father, and part of his story is meeting Squall's mother, I'd say it's important. Defeating Adel stops a tyrannical sorceress and helps shape the world, as well as Ultimecia's plot.

I'm sure, although it is a plot hole why Irvine didn't explain, he DOUBTED it himself, since NO ONE ELSE remembered it. As soon as the pieces came together to prove it WAS REAL, he could speak out. And Irvine was not 'fine with assassinating' Edea. HE DIDN'T. That's why Squall had to try a direct assualt. (Hello? First disc boss?) Irvine acted cocky, like he could do it, which is PART OF HIS CHARACTER.

Then how did Kefka wanting to destroy everything make sense? He was crazy, he didn't have a logical reason. It was the same with Ultimecia. She wanted to be the only person in time to rewrite the whole universe how she wanted it. And, gasp, she had the means to do so.

tl;dr

 

I loved Final Fantasy VIII, and although it did have a few gaping plot holes, I still loved it. The story was deep, and the love story was genuine. I loved the characters too.

Each and every person has different opinions, to each his own!

 

Every single Final Fantasy game can have bits and pieces picked from them that can pose as an argument that can make them look like the worst game in the series, but they also have good points that can make any of them be considered the best game as well.
