i don't see a need for a compromise here.   Thank you Weiss for showing me this, I feel it might be necessary to place it here now.

(Everyone please don't hate me, but......) I believe in God and, well, I really don't care who marries whom. As long as the couple is happy that is all that matters. I am not saying you have to like i

  • But someone please tell me how a dude that likes dude and wants to marry another dude is so catastrophic that it effects the lives of individuals they have never met

Fine. Whatever you say. I am sticking with my beliefs and stop trying to convince me I am wrong, because you won't. I don't agree with the lifestyle; that is all. Just because people don't agree with you does not mean they're ignorant. Since you seem so strong about it, why don't you go to Washington and protest this and stop trying to tear me down from my position. I have an opinion and I am not afraid to speak it out loud until kingdom come. If you don't like it, I don't really care since it's your problem and not mine.

It just pisses me off that people think they are allowed to have an opinion on the way other people live their lives. Reminds how disgusting we are as human beings.

I mean that is kind of absolutely correct except in terms of human rights you are definitely entitled to your opinion but I mean

Yes, everyone should have equal rights

everyone should have the right to marry whomever they may choose

everyone has the right to their opinion

everyone has a right to their beliefs

If they don't like another person's beliefs they can take their beliefs elsewhere into a more accepting and loving environment, but despite a person's religion they shouldn't force it upon people when it means separating people from their happiness. They don't need a church's approval, just the government to allow them to sign a piece of paper you will never see in your entire life that says "yay they are a couple now."

Lets all think of it this way: If they cannot marry, then most likely sex changes will occur more often so that people can get around the law. Its human ingenuity. We find ways around laws that govern our world. We want to fly, yet are incapable to, well we can make a plane fly, and ergo us being its cargo also fly's. We wanted to go faster than what our legs could carry us at, so we invented carriages and cars, we wanted to go into space, but we could not survive in space, so we invented things that we could live in that could also survive space. Humans find ways around natural laws, so even if this bill dose not pass, people will find a way.

It just pisses me off that people think they are allowed to have an opinion on the way other people live their lives. Reminds how disgusting we are as human beings.

Everyone, including us, has an opinion on anything. We can't make blanket statements though.

Yeah but when the opinions effect others who are doing no harm to anyone it has gone to far.

I'm just going to jump in with my opinion.  I think it's wrong to deny people rights based on something they can't control.  After hearing several members of the LGBT talk, I found out that those people don't have a choice.  Denying them rights is the same thing as being racist.

And earlier some of them argued that is is their choice. To which I deliver my facepalm GIF of the day for:

True. That's why we can't make blanket statements. Others are allowed to express their opinion and/or beliefs though.

Allowed, yes. Should they? No. It isn't something that people should be concerned about. That's like me saying, "I think your eyes are ugly. I'm going to make it illegal for you to marry someone who likes your eyes. So you better get knew eyes." Nobody has a right to say something to say that do they?

Then no one can express opinion. There is a difference between insult and opinion. What if the gov't is doing something that I know is wrong, but everyone else supports it? Does that mean that I have to keep it quiet? That interferes with my freedom conscience and saying that someone should not express opinion defies the first amendment freedom of conscience and speech. Why deny someone that right?

That's a different situation. What the government does effects you. What homosexuals do with their lives don't effect you.

Okayyyy

Due to the backlash that is going around

I think it is an okay time to close this thread!
