The first Sonic will be remastered for iOS and Android

Sonic 1 is set to arrive later this month for both Android and iOS devices.
 
Receiving the same treatment as the Sonic CD re-release, Sonic 1 will see widescreen support, a remastered soundtrack, and other extras. Again, Capcom is not handling the duties of this re-release themselves, and are instead handing the work off to Christian “The Taxman” Whitehead and his Retro Engine.
 
Sonic 1 will be available later this month for $2.99, and rumors are that a Sonic 2 remake is next on the schedule.
