GET BIOSHOCK 2!!! I don't know, but if you going to get a game, do Bioshock 2. It's an awesome game, and it's better than the first one.

I honestly haven't seen many good reviews about it. What I mean is, the people give it good reviews, but they're horrible at it. They pretty much do it for a lot of games :P

  • Author

lol, sorry but my first one will be guitar hero van halen which i got a few days ago, so far i can say that my review will probably not get above a 7.0

Well I didn't say to do Bioshock 2 first. But I want you to do Bioshock 2 :P

  • Author

lol, since those are games i will probably never be playing, you could always put them here.

EDIT: or apparently you could make a thread anyway :P

hopefully GHVH review coming today

2nd EDIT: actually, i think i may first to sonic and the black knight, which ign rated 4.3, LOWER THAN SONIC (06)!!! (if you've played it you'll know what i mean)

Post deleted... it won't let me use the checkbox method so this will do I 'spose...

The prince of persia review sounds good, I was looking at getting it :)

EDIT: forgot prince of persia... but, with mario galaxy 2 coming to europe in 1 week, i'm going to review the original super mario galaxy :)

i'm in a very mario-ee mood, so i might do a couple other mario reviews as well

Super Mario Galaxy Review

So i'm going to review what is probably my favourite game on the wii, and the sequel to the amazing super mario 64. it has won many awards inculding the IGN editor's choice awards, and this review will show my opinions ;)

Gameplay: 10

with lots of different powers to play with, 120 stars in over 40 galaxies, and plenty of challenge, there is no fault in the gameplay of super mario galaxy. if you get all the stars though, it isn't over, as you can do it all over again as luigi (who is slightly different than mario because he jumps higher, but mas less traction). which luigi gets exactly the same levels and stars as mario, afterwards you can play the secret 121st star, sadly all yuo get is a picture on the wii message board.

Controls: 9.5

the controls are mapped very well, and you definitely can't complain about them, but having to find things with the wii remote pointer can be annoying.

Graphics: 10

it might not have the mass of detail found in PS3/360 game, but it is certainly the best looking game on the wii, and the framerate is very high.

Sound: 10

It's mario, it's mario music, it'st awesome, period.

Multiplayer: 4

they do say they have a co-op mode, but not really. it's just another controller that can pick up star bits and make mario jump. the only upside is that if both controllers jump at the same time, mario will to a 'super special awesome jump'. but i decide not to include this in the result, as this is not really a proper feature.

Result: 9.9

an amazing game, and definitely worth getting. almost flawless, and i'm looking forwards to reviewing the sequel (given a perfect 10 from IGN!)

nice review keep up the good work bra!

good review kk,i'm getting the game along with bioshock 2,peacewalker and red dead

i just got the first professor layton and FFF: Chocobo dungeon, and they are both very very good, so expect reviews for them this week

so here they are:

Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon

This game is awesome. whether it matches up to it's prequel Chocobo tales, it's hard to decide. but this game deserves a review, so enjoy.

presentation: 7.5

standard interfaces, what you'd expect from a spin-off game. it's nice that they put in shortcuts to easily access menus. also the display for information in dungeons is clear and doesn't get in the way of the game

Gameplay: 9.5

dungeon exploring is nothing new, but the turn-based floors, special rule dungeons and classic job system, it feels different and more fun than most others. i like how they added a sub-quest collecting cards for pop-up duels, which people might recognise from Chocobo tales for the DS, and you can duel others over wi-fi. the only problems is the small amount of fetch quests and cheap traps that instantly kill you in special rule dungeons. but otherwise very fun

graphics: 8.5

again, what you'd expect from a wii game. CGI cutscenes look great, but it's a shame they couldn't have been on a PS3 or 360 to get their full potential out of them. also some creative, but still useful camera angles. shame about the terrible lip-syncing.

sound: 10

it's a square game, it's what you'd except. incredible voice-acting, all required talking also voice acted, great sound effects, over-all fantastic

Lasting Appeal: 7.5

a fairly long game (when you include the optional dungeons), plus you may want to take time in the middle to level up your job and etc. it is an rpg afterall. but once the story's finished, theres not really anything keeping you on the game.

Result: 8.6

a great game, i reccomend it. there are a few little kinks, but is still amazingly fun

what are you talking about bioshock is much better than bioshock 2.1)audio diaries are more intersing expect for fontanies in 2 2) the story is much better with the one best twist in video games 3) bishock 2 don't feel as surpraising and shocking as it was in one 4)the characters you interact with in bioshock 1 are more intersing and unquie. They do have Gill and Sinclair who are great characters but compare them to Ryan,Fontanie,Cohen they are no match. 5) bs 2 story is shorter.

that being said BS2 is great game with it's drawnbacks but they did fixs hacking, dueling plasimds and weapons and adding online but BS is far better game,Also i wish they had more Mark Meltzer he was one best characters in BS 2 and could have been cool to play as.They also did Big Sisters wrong they should have had them showing a random times.

Good review KK1

Here are some great games I recommend you try. You can get most of them fairly cheap these days.

DESTROY ALL HUMANS! (my favorite game series of all time) It's actually rather funny and contrary to what you may think it isn't all about killing people. There is a good story behind it and in Destroy all Humans 2 your actually saving humans near the end (ironic eh?). Destroy all Humans 2 is funnier in my opinion. Especially the way they make fun of russians lol.

Sly Cooper games were favorites of mine.

If you can get a hold of it, get Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds for the PC. It's very rare but there may be a torrent or two you could try. Sometimes it doesn't work though. I had a PC version of it but the disk got scratched :(

Fable 2 was pretty good.

Spore is a nice game as well.

If your into shooters, save up for Halo reach, the Beta was amazing.

i just stick with games i have

but i did love spore, but it gets really boring after a while sadly...

al least they made it go on longer by making the game impossibly hard to fully complete.

anyway, since i'm in a square mood atm, expect reviews for dragon quest IX and FFXIII

speaking of that, i should check the FFXIV beta website to see if they've fixed the bug stopping me from beta testing yet...

I agree. Bioshock 2 was a great game but it felt like a forced sequel to me. The game is mostly the same from the 1st with a less interesting story and being linear. Its pretty much like the mission in the first game where you pretend to be a big daddy but for the whole game instead. I personally think the online made the quality of the single player suffer. Bioshock was one of those shooters that didn't need multiplayer.

ok, end of story, i'm not reviewing anything i don't have :P

and i DO now have FFXIII, so here's a review:

Final Fantasy XIII

i just got ff13, i've only played it for a few hours, but that gives me plenty of information to give a review, have fun.

Presentation: 10

nice-looking menus and interfaces, a very sleek crystilarium levelling up system. the graphics and sound are great, the battles are very fluent. nothing wrong with the presentation at all

Gameplay: 9.5

there isn't much more to the gameplay than the battles, but thats not too bad. you wander through a set path, and you'll come across monsters which you walk into (or be walked into) to trigger a battle.

now this game runs on an active time battle system, meaning you have a bar, which drains when you attack, and refils when your idle. it's segmented so that different abilities takes longer or shorter parts of the bar. the battle system is complicated at first, but gets easier, especially when you master the paradigm system.

now, the gameplay gets rated down because of it's insane difficulty. i know some people find that a good thing, but even pros will die at least once for every boss fight because if your team leader dies, everyone else goes down with them. luckily they put you right outside the boss battle when you die, and weak monsters are easy, but i'd prefer not having to repeat battles trying to figure out how it dies.

it does get easier when you get the hang of it though, don't worry.

Story: 10

a great story. you got your strong mysterious character, you've got your self-indulged romantic character, your character who wants revenge, your old dual-gun character, and you have your young bubbly character with an accent i'd like to say is australian but i'm not entirely sure. the party ends up splitting up and joining back together alot. one of the characters goes off on his own a couple of hours into the game, i've been playing the game for at least 20 hours now, and i'm really annoyed that i haven't yet been able to play with that character again.

but all the characters get alot of backstory, even the ones you really wouldn't expect to find much plot development with.

Graphics 10

WOW!

i know final fantasy graphics have always been ahead of their time, but the graphics for this game are abseloutely astounding. these are more than pixar quality. they seem like a live action film except with graphic quality like live action just can't do.

there are no real CGI cutscenes, but they're not needed since the in-game graphics match the quality of CGI.

the areas are linear, if you look on the map it's one incredibly long curvy string, but they really make it seem massive. you can look around to see the beautiful final fantasy world, and it just blows me away

Sound: 9.5

Great sound effects, what you'd expect from a square game.

Great voice acting, not only are there lots of individual voices, but the speech in-game is 100% voice acted, no random words

the music is also one of the better soundtracks, with memorable tunes that anyone will like.

Controls: 9.5

simple controls that work well, although trying to get through to a certain part of the battle menu or change paradigms while a boss is hitting hundreds on you can be a killer. a shortcuts menu to access things like libra and certain abilities would have been nice.

Result: 9.7

an overall incredible game, some shortcuts and a drop in difficulty would have been nice, but i highly reccomend this game to any JRPG fan

my next review will be for Dragon Quest IX, expect it soon

I'm loving your reviews KK1... owo

Guitar Hero: Warriors Of Rock Review

i got this game a couple of days ago, and i've been playing it non-stop since. here's my review of the 6th mainsteam guitar hero.

Graphics: 8

i like the artistic style of the menu's, making it seem alot more like classic guitar hero, but i was dissapointed that the gameplay ran on exactly the sam engine that ran guitar hero 5. still the graphics are pretty good so i can't mark it down for that.

Sound: 10

it's a guitar hero game, what do you expect?

they opted for a heavy guitar-based set list this time. throw in some punk and alternative and it works well. much better than the hip-hop, pop, r&b and soul they tried in gh5. also very nice sound affects, and various bits of voice acting by gene simmons from kiss and geddy lee from rush.

Gameplay: 10

now we're getting down the the important stuff. whether you agree with my 10 really depends on how you like guitar hero. they've gone in a good direction with awesome power ups, several challenges for each song, and i gotta tell you it feels epic earning 40 stars on a song. although be prepared to drop down a difficulty level, on gh5 i considered myself a hard/expert player, but on this i could only expert a couple of songs, hard/medium'd most songs, and a couple i had to even drop down to easy to do

Presentation: 8.5

nicely presented, along with a pretty snazzy story mode. not the best i've ever seen though, but nice for a music game.

Multiplayer: 10

I call it multiplayer, but i guess it's more accessibility. this game is better than ever to play with freinds. they kept the party play mode which is great if you have friends who can only survive on easy (like most of mine). there are lots of options for the new quickplay+ which will help you play easier.

Lasting Appeal: 9.5

now, i've gotten bored with most of my previous guitar hero games eventually. but i'm not sure i will with this. i'm working on fully completing the quest, and then i'm going to try and do the challenges for all the songs, and after that i'll still play just for fun. with imports and DLC i have almost 300 songs in the library

Result: 9.3

beats it's previous games in pretty much every aspect. get it if you like music/rhythm games.
