How Did OoT Link Become Hero's Shade?

Posted

So how do you think Link from OoT got turned into The Hero's Shade from TP? I know there are a lot of theories on how that happened but I am quite curious on what happened to Link after the events of MM. I mean there are theories like Link went into the Lost Woods and was trapped there since he had no fairy to guide him back out. And another being that Link simply died of old age and become the spirit, Hero's Shade. I really wish the Hyrule Historia book gave a clear explanation on how OoT Link become Hero's Shade and lost one eye.

"According to the book Hyrule Historia, the Hero's Shade is a spiritual manifestation of the regrets of the Hero of Time, the Link seen in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask."

Basically, idk how he died, but when he died he regretted not passing down his skills to the future Link's.

Yea it's not clear. It says that he fails in the attempt to defeat Ganon. For all we know he just drowned from the oh so difficult water temple. I'm not too intrigued with this timeline; very vague plus... link never fails.

Poor Link never did get any closure with the Navi search, did he?

I think the fairy/lost woods thing makes a lot of sense, since the Hero's Shade looks awfully similar to a stalfos,

and I will never forget how creepy Fado was when she told you where Grog went on the Biggoron sword sidequest.

It's like... Super creepy foreshadowing or something.  I dunno.

CURSE YOU WATER TEMPLE, but yeah, Link is the main man. Can't be dying like the Link

On another note, the 3 separate timelines thing is confusing at times.

...That's a good question... what I want to know is how he learned the moves when he was a stalfos and how he talks in full sentences.

Yeah, from what I've read that's how Link become's Hero's Shade that teaches TP Link all of the hidden abilities. But I was wondering if being in The Lost Woods had something to do with it as well.

In the Adult Timeline he defeated Ganon and sealed him in the Sacred Realm along with the seven sages. After that he went back to his childhood timeline and went to the King of Hyrule to warn him about Ganondorf. Which led the King to execute Ganon. Link felt that he regretted not being a hero since he was no longer the Hero of Time and went off to find Navi. Thus, starting MM.

Link became the Hero's Shade because he was forced to go back to the Water Temple again... No but truthfully he wasn't satisfied because he didn't get to pass down his skills to anyone so his regrets manifested and took the form of an adult Majora's Mask Link, as evidenced by the Hero's Shade's Mirror shield and Gilded Sword. He became the Hero's Shade long after Majora's Mask, no where near it as evidenced by his adult looking body in TP.

Ohhhh wow, that is super creepy xD And that dialogue makes it even creepier..."Everybody, Stalfos"

Yeah, it sounds really plausible. Would explain his regret of not being able to pass down his techniques and stuff.

He probably regretted that either way, people got hurt.

Gah, if anything's confusing, it's the Zelda timeline. Seriously, it's difficult to make sense of.

He probably regretted the people he couldn't save, nor that he could pass on anything; so he roamed the Earth, waiting for his descendant to take up his old sword and save Hyrule from Mr. Pig. (Aka Ganon.)

I agree fully. To me, it sounds more like they wanted to have a clear way for infinite Zelda games than actually explaining a plausible timeline.
