Girls’ Generation to Appear on America’s Public Main TV Shows as the First Korean Artist!

Girls' Generation will Perform ‘The Boys’ on CBS ‘Late Show With David Letterman’ and ABC ‘LIVE! with Kelly'!

Girls’ Generation will be the first Korean artist to appear on America’s main talk shows, ‘Late Show With David Letterman’ and ‘LIVE! with Kelly.’

Since Girls’ Generation will perform ‘The Boys’ on CBS ‘Late Show With David Letterman’ on January 31st (New York Time) and ABC ‘LIVE! with Kelly' on February 1st, it is expected to draw the attention of the viewers.

Especially, Girls’ Generation, who released a special album ‘The Boys’ in the U.S.A. on the 17th, is scheduled to appear on America’s famous TV shows without any activities in the U.S.A. so it shows Girls’ Generation’s global popularity and influence.

‘Late Show With David Letterman’ is a late-night talk show which airs from Monday to Friday at 11:35 p.m. featuring famous people such as celebrities, politicians, athletes, anchors, etc. and is also known as one of America’s top three talk shows along with NBC ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’ and ‘Late Night with Conan O`brian.’

Moreover, 'LIVE! with Kelly' is a morning talk show which airs from Monday to Friday at 9:00 a.m. on ABC and it is the number one rated weekly TV show.

After Girls’ Generation released their physical album in the United States, it secured the second spot on the Billboard “World Albums” chart and it also placed in the 22nd spot for the Billboard “Heatseekers Albums” chart. This is very impressive and a great achievement for a Hallyu artist who recently debuted in the United States.

Girls’ Generation have departed for New York at 10am KST on January 30th to attend America’s popular talk shows CBS’ ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ on January 31st and ABC’s ‘Live! with Kelly’ on February 1st. On these shows, the girls will also be performing ‘The Boys’.

 

A representative of SM Entertainment said, “Girls’ Generation have been busy with their individual schedules but they practiced in between their schedules to deliver perfect performances in US. After the broadcast, they will have media interview sessions and it seems that they will only be back in Korea on February 2nd”.

 

Although Girls’ Generation barely have any promotional activities in United States so far, the fact that the girls received such ‘love call’ soon after the release of the special album has attracted huge attention.

 

In addition to that, as Girls’ Generation will also be the first Korean artists to step on the stages of America’s main talk shows, fans in Korea and other parts of the world have shown great interest and anticipation towards their appearances on these popular shows.

French magazine pens Girls’ Generation’s world conquest

 

 

Girls’ Generation are receiving huge attention in France.

On French music magazine, Musique Info’s ‘Midem 2012 Special Edition’, an article with the title ‘Girls’ Generation Taking On The World’ was published.

 

 

 

In the article, Music Info stated, “Girls’ Generation and Kpop, which is widely known in Asia and the rest of the world, are beginning to receive recognition.” Also, the article reported on the girls’ participation in the ‘SM Town Live’ concert, which took place in Paris (June 2011), as well as the New York-leg of the concert in Madison Square Garden (October 2011).

 

 

In addition to that, according to the article, David Assogba, Chief of Project Marketing for Polydor France (a record label under Universal Music Group responsible for the distribution of Girls’ Generation’s ‘The Boys’ albums in Europe) expressed his confidence in the girls by stating, “Girls’ Generation is a world-class group.”

 

The schedule of Girls’ Generation’s album sales in France was also revealed in the magazine. The Korean version of Girls’ Generation’s 3rd album ‘The Boys’, which will be released for the first time in France will make its way to the market in January/February while the English version, which involves the participation of famous producers, Teddy Riley and Polow Da Don will be available in June this year.

Girls’ Generation on America’s Main Talk Show ‘The Late Show With David Letterman’ as the First Korean Artist!

Made the First Network Television Debut in America!

 

Girls’ Generation performed ‘The Boys’ on America’s main talk show ‘The Late Show With David Letterman’ as the first Korean artist.

 

As musical guest, Girls’ Generation performed the special album title song ‘The Boys’ at the end of ‘The Late Show With David Letterman,’ which was aired on the 31st from 11:35 p.m. (New York Time), and received an explosive response.

 

The host, David Letterman, introduced Girls’ Generation saying, “Our next guests are a very popular group from South Korea who has just released their first album in America. It's entitled 'The Boys.' Please welcome, making their network television debut, Girls' Generation." and Girls’ Generation presented the band version of ‘The Boys’ on the show.

 

Especially, since it was the thirtieth anniversary of the show on that day, the attention of the viewers as well as the broadcasting interested was more focused. When Girls' Generation finished their live performance, David Letterman said 'Thank you’ in Korean.

 

Girls’ Generation said, “We’ve been very excited from the time, when the decision of our appearance on the show was made, until we completed the performance. It was a very great and happy time to perform on ‘The Late Show With David Letterman.’"

 

Also, local fans had gathered at ‘The Ed Sullivan Theater,’ where ‘The Late Show With David Letterman’ was filmed, since morning and Girls’ Generation greeted fans and signed autographs when the girls arrived at the theater.

 

‘The Late Show With David Letterman,’ which is aired every weekdays at 11:35 p.m., is CBS late night talk show made up of interview and performance sessions. On this episode, actor/director Bill Murray also appeared as talk guest.

 

Meanwhile, Girls’ Generation will also appear on a famous talk show ABC 'LIVE! with Kelly' on February 1st at 9:00 a.m. (New York Time) and have an interview with one of the top four press agencies in the world ‘AP’ and a famous entertainment news program 'Extra TV.’
