What is going to happen to Serah in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII?

Posted

The Japan Expo 23 trailer(and partly the FF Wikipedia) reveals that people who died prior to Lightning's Awakening as the savior, will be erased from existance completely, as if they were never around to begin with. And as we all know,

Serah died 500 years before LR FF XIII in the ending of XIII-2.

Meaning she will be completely removed from existance. And obviously, Lightning is not going to deal well with the fact that

Serah's soul will be pretty much completely destroyed, and she'll NEVER SEE HER SISTER AGAIN, not even in the afterlife.

Lightning is probably going to try to do something to save Serah for sure, but what can she possible do?

Watching the latest trailer, she's not just some soldier or a knight of the goddess anymore, but something more as she said herself. I kinda feel whatever that "more" she is talking about might fall into trying to save, Serah in some way.

Good point. She is pretty much like Jesus now, so she's transcended Humanity in a way, with her new powers. Maybe she can use them to save Serah, but i don't know. If Bhunivelze(the deity Lightning and others call "God") doesn't allow her to save Serah, she'll never be able to get to her. I mean, he's god, he can pretty much do whatever he wants.

There could be some loop holes so who really knows at this point. I just find it odd that she doesn't mention anything about Serah from the trailers we have been seeing. The only person that ever mentions her is, Snow. Maybe it might be shown more in the game when it comes out..Still I just find it odd.

Yes, they barely mention her. Well, in one of the photos for the game, Lightning says something like "I'm saving Serah, that's it."

Also, it turns out that Noel also blames himself for Serah's death. Im guessing Lightning is hoping she'll see Serah in the afterlife, so she's able to move on with her life. I have the feeling, maybe Lightning uses Serah's memory to get Noel and Snow on her side in the end, or something like that.

Maybe since Serah's barely mentioned by anyone so far, maybe people's memories of her are slowly fading away; they forget her name, what she looked like and what her voice sounded like, until they only remember knowing someone but can't think of who that person was.

Well, thats true for everyone EXCEPT LIGHTNING. I mean, for Lightning she went to sleep and woke up. Before she went to sleep for 500 years, she saw Serah and they embraced and Serah told Lightning she would see her again. Lightning went to sleep directly after that, so she still has CLEAR MEMORIES OF SERAH.

Yeah. Since Lightning was in her crystal sleep she most likely wasn't exposed to whatever that's causing people to forget those that died in the past.

True.

I guess we'll have to wait for the game.
