Dio Brando 5,810 Posted July 11, 2013 (edited) I'm so serious about this question,Kojima Production has some good games alongside Metal Gear Like Zone of the Enders,Lunar Knights on the DS(Yes that was made by Kojima) Policenauts and more But lately, ever since 2006 until now Kojima almost produced nothing but Metal Gear games. Don't get me wrong I like Metal Gear so much, but it looks like Kojima cares about nothing but this series. The Zone of the Enders HD Collection was a freakin joke,it was worse than the original Ps2 version and I bet the whole reason for this collection is to slap the Metal Gear Rising on it just so people can pay 60$ for a demo bundled with a half-assed collection. And then Kojima has the balls to cancel and stop all works in progress for the Zone of the Enders franchise because the sales of the collection was obviously abysmal....Gee I wonder why!!!! Kojima always jibber about how the Japanese gaming industry should evolve yet he himself limits his entire studio to nothing but Metal Gear Solid. You might argue that he's working on Project Ogre, but what garuntee that this isn't another Metal Gear related thing??? I respect Kojima, but I'm sorry to say this:Kojima is reeaaaally sucking Big Boss's cock at this point. He can't rely on just Metal Gear forever especially since he's a part of Konami. I don't wanna sound like a hater, but the reality is:Konami is almost one of the most forgettable third party companies I ever seen. They have very few titles that they rely on:Metal Gear,Silent Hill,Pro Evolution Soccer,Castlevania....and that's it.Even other games they had like Suikoden and Dance Dance Revolutions...they're not using them anymore, and if they;re not doing those titles they publishport games from other developers. I love Metal Gear and it's one of my favorite franchises ever, but I don't wanna see the talent of an entire studio being limited to only one franchise. If Kojima really wants to evolve the Japanese industry as he claimns, then he should at least for once try to put his heart and effort into something else than just Metal Gear Edited July 11, 2013 by Metal Snake 1 bit reacted to this
Deadshot 666 Posted July 11, 2013 (edited) Well i assume it's because MGS makes money, MGS V will be big hit. So maybe they'll try something new after that but new ip is risky (the zone of the enders didn't sell well on ps2 nor did Lunar knight on ds). I would love to see new ip for is lead studio, but maybe it's not his choice especially with him trying to get away from Mgs series. Also Konami does Castlevania and *Contra* (but it's been two years) which Kojima production has helped with. But is this money enough to fund the entire studio??? Does this money provides enough income to Konamit who barely has any franchises under their wings. They don't have to make a new IP,I just want them to give their other franchises(ZOE,Lunar Knights,Policenauts,Suikoden) a chance you can't tell me that this piece of shit of a collection for ZOE is a chance giving because all what Kojima did for this collection is just putting the Metal Gear Rising demo there and that's it. As for Castlevania,Kojima has just recently helped them,he never did anything for past titles Edited July 11, 2013 by Metal Snake

All of those franchises didn't sell well so it might be too big of risk to bring back something a small about of people want which may not be enough to justify the game. Sometimes people want to make games but due to sale concerns they can't it may be why you won't see a sequel to those games. But idk this is my speculation. Also i heard project Ogre is mgs v

As much as I love Metal Gear,Big Boss's story is near it's end and they need to find a new story for a new Snake otherwise the series will wore out of it's welcome as they've used Big Boss sooo much more than nessessary. You can stii make money out of an old franchise with enough marketing, just look at Sleeping Dogs, that game was supposed to be a True Crime sequel and yet...it managed to sell well....You can also look at Tomb Raider as another example of that. If the guy who said he wants to evolve the Japanese industry can't take risks once, then he need to STFU about this topic

Sleeping Dogs sold respectful million copies. I find Big boss more interesting than solid snake but that's not important. But if he wants to evolve the industry sequels to failed games wont be the anwser. Marketing might lose you money on games like that.
