The worst part of those are their smell. *lived in a house that probably got a couple thousand invading an enclosed front porch each year*

Kind of, their smell just isn't pleasant (not really BAD, even though I said it was), but at least it isn't strong. (Unless one gets squished) Though the scent will stick with you on any part they crawl on....

Honestly, in my initial post on it, I made it sounds worse than it was. Though I still stick by that their scent is a bit hard to wash off. I just did some research it probably is their defense mechanism, a lot of beetles in the Coccinellidae family (mostly beetles that are/look like ladybugs/birds) taste bad, and can excrete the an the toxin that makes them taste bad. (this toxin smells bad as well)
