Welcome to the Summer Seasonal Pokémon Tournament

This tournament will consist of Pokémon surrounds a couple of types that stereotypically define Summer. In other words, Pokémon types that are eligible are Grass, Water, Fire, Bug and Ground

You will be using this site to create your team, and battle other competitors in this tournament in "Custom Match".

http://play.pokemonshowdown.com/

~THE WINNER IS OMEGAFORTE, AND THIS TOURNAMENT IS NOW OVER! THANK YOU FOR JOINING AND I HOPE TO SEE YOU IN NEXT MONTHS TOURNAMENT!~

~Rule and Restrictions~

- MUST be a Pokémon surrounding the types Grass, Water, Fire, Bug or Ground. It can be a dual type as well, like Shiftry who is a Grass/Dark type.

- If the opponent doesn't show up and doesn't battle till a certain Round deadline, then you will be promoted to the next round.

- You can use only 2 legendaries per team.

- We will use "Custom Match" when we battle in the tournament due to the restrictions in "OU", but you can use "OU" to practice against other strangers on the site.

- Be sure to tell me whether you can't battle ASAP and don't wait it out till the very end to tell me, if you do we then have to disqualify you and promote your opponent. If you are able to battle a bit after the deadline, and depending on how the tournament is going, then I will allow you to still battle.

- You must fill out the sign out sheet.

This will be updated once we have a full set of participants and a few days before the tournament starts. Once it does, please talk to your opponent about when to battle. If you don't battle for the a lot of days and the round's due date is coming, I have to intervene.

Tournament Schedule:

First Round: August 17 - August 21

Second Round: August 22 - August 26

Semifinals: August 27 - August 29

Finals: August 30

NOTE: If you finish your First Round match and your next opponent who you are going to battle in the Second Round has too and the deadline hasn't passed, you can battle him/her early on. This applies to ALL rounds, so if you finish early you can battle early. There are going to be due dates, you can start whenever you want.

~Personal Tips~

- Stuck on the fact that your team might be good or downright terrible? You can go down two routes! Ask a friend who is participating in the tournament or someone you know who is good at Pokémon and battle him under "Custom Match"! You should battle different teams rather than just the same one to conclude whether your team is good or not. The other route is to challenge strangers, but this could not work at all since there might be a time where OU/Ubers/etc. might not allow your Pokémon team to battle because one Pokémon has an ability unreleased or is not allowed in that tier. You do NOT have to change your Pokémon, you can just follow Route A, but just know that you could probably give your team away to your possible future opponent. Also if your team beats a good amount of opponents with different teams but lose to some others, its up to you to decide whether the team needs some tweaking or not. Remember, not every team is perfect, there are going to be walls so have some Pokémon that can take down those walls while the other Pokémon use whatever strategy you are using.

- Strategy has a good chance at winning. Sometimes it can even triumph over people who just put a team together for no reason. But also know that your Pokémon must be qualified for the types listed above and make sure they are strong and resilient. Strategy can come from parahaxers (Toxic/Paralysis/Flinching/Etc.), walls (People who can take many hits), Speedy Sweepers (People who are born to kill). Even Pokémon with Item-Ability combos (Toxic Orb + Poison Heal = Large amount of healing per turn), Move-Ability combos (Fire Punch + Iron Fist = Boosted Fire Punch), or even Surroundings-Ability combos (Rain + Swift Swim = Doubled Speed).

- If you want to go for boosting your stats but your Pokémon can't take any hits, apply Focus Sash with it. Focus Sash, if your Pokémon has full health, makes the opponents attack make your health go to 1 instead of 0. Imagine you use Shell Smash and then the opponent attacks and makes your health go to 1. You will get so much Speed, Attack, and Special Attack from that move than you'll be to sweep and attack every Pokémon. But it is all up to you!

- Type disadvantage and advantage is very useful, it will work.

- PRACTICE! It works like a charm! Sometimes you can get ahead with luck, but practice has a more of a chance of actually letting you win! I didn't get much practice last tournament due to some difficulties but I can assure you it will work. Sometimes luck has its ways, but if you want to win rather than getting past the first round, then practice.

- You can have up to 4 teams, due to we have 4 rounds. First Round, Second Round, Semifinals and Finals.

- Switch out and make smart predictions!

- Don't get angry that you lose, sure you can be like "Damnit I lost" but don't take it personal and ruin it for everyone else. You can joke around, but if you are serious about it then you can't join future tournaments.

Hope you enjoy the tournament! Any questions and tips and I will happily help you through this thread OR PM!

Ah didn't notice. xD

Would have been better if I didn't let my hippo die. But I wasn't thinking to much at first.

I had my match against Newa. Great match! I barely took the victory, though.

Well now I can see why Blaziken is banned from OU.

Megaman X is your next opponent and the first post is updated.

JUST WOW!!!!

Blaziken literally raped the entire team ^_^

Gotta go now and give my Blaziken in White 2 the training it deserves ^_^

I'm beginning to feel bad for choosing Treecko over Torchic all the time in Emerald now. xD Of course, Blaziken could've easily fainted if Newa hadn't switched Arceus out. I'm going to work on adjusting the rest of my team for the next few days until round 2 officially starts, I was too busy to practice for my first match... Gotta make sure not to do that again.

Are we just going to ignore the fact that Newa's Arceus is a Water type but apparently Judgement was Super Effective on Venusaur?

Like Newa, did you actually pick "Arceus-Water" and then put an Icicle Flame/Whatever the Flying one is called Plate on it so it appears like a Water type but is actually an Ice/Fire/Flying type?

I think it would be the flying plate or the Ice plate.

If it was a Flame Plate I'll let it slide, but if its a Ice/Flying Plate then thats not even part of the types listed.

But she didn't win, so it's not a big deal until future reference.

I was kinda confused on that myself... ._.

Oh no! Water-Arceus had the Icicle plate. I thought it was going to effect only to judgement-attack.  I didn't know that the whole type would change if the Arceus had it. Since name was still Water-Arceus...?  I couldn't use Arceus in OU games, so I didn't notice that the type was different.

But it was a Great match! That Blaziken was amazing! :D Hopefully we can take a rematch sometime? Even though the time difference is so big.  :D

Black Star! Go and win this tournament!  ;)

It's alright! xD

Usually when Arceus holds a Plate its type changes in the game, but apparently Pokémon Showdown allows you to choose which type of Arceus you want and you can add in your own item regardless.

Okay, It's quite confusing... I try to be more careful in the future!  ^_^

By the way is there more Pokémon Showdown tournaments?  :) It was really fun to plan a strategy and pick a team. And that Tournament battle was truly amazing!  :D I never thought that Blaziken could destroy my strategy so completely!  :D I would love to try battle in a tournament again!  :)

Yay!  :D I will be there when the next tournament begins!  ;)

Keyblade Knight won, should be posting the replay any minute. For the record - Ubers suck....

Soooo...Are we allowing that sort of thing?

They didn't fix that bug apparently. I doubt anyone would abuse Arceus like that.

So... Was that Arceus flying type pokémon? Judgement-attack was super effective against bug and grass type pokémon, right?Oh, Arceus could have been fire type pokémon too. ^^' So... Is Flame Plate allowed, but Sky Plate no-no?

Please don't double post.

Alph Art: Arceus unique move that changes type depending the plate being held.

Yes but the plate also changes the type of Arceus, and you can't have Arceus being a Water type with a Sky/Flame Plate like I told Newa.
I let her slide because

1) She lost.
2) It happened for the first time.

But you won, so Ima ask you to battle Ajexmi again by changing that plate to "Splash Plate". I'm not counting that battle.

But tell me, which plate did you use first?

Flame. Sorry misread the rule.

Flame. Sorry misread the rule.

If its Flame then I'll say its alright, since it makes it a Fire type yet appears as a Water type.

But for future reference, this will only be allowed in this tournament, any future tournament will have a rule saying that Arceus has to be the same type as the plate given to him, and there must be a plate unless you want a Normal Type Arceus.

I'll promote you then.
