Alright so since I had SUCH a good day today and of course the Internet is for everyone to talk about their feelings, I'm going to document my day today in this single topic. If you like Yugioh it might be enjoyable to read.
So first off I've been sick for the past few days. I made plans with my friends to hang out today and since it was downpouring, decided to spend it at their house. The two friends I'm talking about are K and C. They've been dating for a while now and they're a little bit older than me but we're all so short you'd never guess.
Alright so lately I've gotten everyone into a little yugioh fad so that's all we've been really talking about lately. At K's house, we were all talking about the general series and game. I put on one of the abridged episodes and we got out a pretty good laugh from that. My friend K busted out his new awesome duel disk that he had ordered online. He wanted to play the card game but I was trying to draw silly pictures and C was listening to Jpop.
Then we got to discussing about next year's plans for Anime Boston, who we'd cosplay and some funny ideas of what we should do. C said we should go up to random people and challenge them to a duel. Since K has an ACTUAL duel disk, he seriously suggested we go to the mall right away and do it. C and I were game for it and soon we were in his car and off to the mall.
At first he forgot his duel disk in the car, but we kept walking anyways.
Probably the most interesting store we went into (and I guess were close to getting kicked out of) was the apple store. I immediately ran to one of the computers and looked up pictures of Yugi. I wanted to pick one and set it as the background (these computers were firetrucking HUGE) but since I'm not familiar with Macs, I didn't know how. My friend C, and I absolutely love her for this, went on the computer next to me and opened up youtube. She got the "IT'S TIME TO D-D-D-DUEL" video on, set it to fullscreen, and put the max volume up. When she pressed play I was LITERALLT DYING of laughter, so much that I started to cry. I opened up youtube also, and went to the same video. K came over to see what the hell we were doing. I told him to play the videos simultaneously, so he pressed them both at the same time and it was even louder. C and I were still laughing like crazy and then I told him to play them one after the other (so basically the two videos with a one-second delay). K took over my computer, so I went to the third and last one, next to C. I opened up youtube and looked up the 10-minute version of the video, which was basically him saying "IT'S TIME TO D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-" over and over again. That lasted for about a few seconds at least before a person who works there came over to use the computer (he didn't kick me off, he was just helping customers but he probably picked the computer I was using BECAUSE of that video ). We left the Apple Store and we were pretty pleased.
Went into a few stores and then Target, where we went in the little kids' toy section. I said they probably wouldn't have cards in here anymore, but no sooner did we reach the end of the aisle that C looked past me and said, "Savanah..."
To which I turned around and was disappointed at only seeing Pokemon cards. BUT, being my usual self and forgetting to put my glasses on, my eyes totally skipped over the huge box sets of Yugioh cards. We each grabbed one - C got Obelisk, K got Slifer and I got Ra - and bought them.
After that we went to the food court, I asked to wear his duel disk (by now he went out to the car and grabbed it, but hadn't put it on). K put it on for me and it was a little heavier than I would have thought, but not bad at all. I put my deck in and we went into a few stores. I had really hoped someone recognized where it was from but after going to a few stores, nobody had noticed it.
We all went to Spencer's but then eventually C and I left, telling K to meet us at FYE. When we got off the escalator I really couldn't ignore the stand in front of me, it had like 10 assorted popcorn flavours and I knew I just wanted to buy one. Well the problem was, I grabbed the wrong wallet. No bills, only change.
Juggling my backpack, umbrella, duel disk and now wallet, I tried counting the coins in my hand. C was laughing as I pulled out half-dollars and gold coins and really I was too. "This must be how they are in the anime, trying to juggle things with this duel disk and shit".
There was a nice short, adorable woman working at the popcorn stand and I asked her if they accepted half-dollars (they were kind of old), she said they should and I got my popcorn but I forgot, TAX YAY. So I juggled again finding more coins.
K came down and we were going to head to FYE, but a small kid walked past us. He gave me a look and I looked at him back. As his brother/father (I don't know, glasses) walked up the escalator the kid just looked at us. I knew that look. Basically the conversation went like this (no exaggeration at all I shit you not):
ME: "Hey do you wanna duel?"
KID: "Sure!"
ME: (surprised) "Wait you know where this is from?!"
KID: "Yeah!"
ME: "Can I hug you???" *running towards him with my arms opened wide*
KID: "NO." *runs up escalator, past people*
ME: "YOU'RE GOING TO THE SHADOW REALM!"
Thus our day was made. A kid had recognized the duel disk and I had successfully frightened a small child no more than 10 years old.
We went into FYE, K ran into his cousins again and were talking, so C and I browsed through some of the funny books they had there.
Needless to say we had a lot of fun. The conversations we had were the best though, as always. Way better than staying inside all day, and I couldn't think of a better way to spend my rainy day.

My friends are the reason I'm always happy.
