Undoubtedly, these numbers mean something to you. Whether you are a fan of Final Fantasy, or a fan of Kingdom Hearts, it means something.
In terms of Final Fantasy, the contrast is obvious. VII, or 7, is widely considered to be the best Final Fantasy game. Whereas XIII, or 13, is widely considered the worst.
In terms of Kingdom Hearts, the numbers mean respectively, the Seven Guardians of Light, and, the Organization. Organization XIII, to be exact.
In case it didn't occur to your feeble minds... Seven is the most revered of the two in both of those contrasts. The champion number of one, and the almighty hero of the other. And in both these cases, XIII plays the part of the villain, whether it's a despised video game, or an evil and shady Organization.
COINCIDENCE?
I. THINK. NOT.
For my friends, it goes so much deeper then just a correlation between numbers.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/13_(number)#Unlucky_13 There is a great stigma attached to the number thirteen, my friends. It is an unlucky number, and it always has been. There are only 12 months in a year, for if there were but one more, then all would be doomed.
But...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7_(number)#Religion Seven is a holy number, a number that appears often in a positive tone. For instance, God created the heavens and the earth... in seven days, and declared the last (the seventh) of those days a holy day. Based on that, we have 7 day weeks. And 7 is also, a lucky number. 7 also represents Windows 7, the best operating system on the market.
So now we know that seven and thirteen are respectively loved and feared. A mighty COINCIDENCE???some might say, but not I. No, I see the truth. I see what Nomura's plan has been all this time. After all of these years.
What could that plan possibly be?
I DON'T KNOW.
I JUST KNOW THERE'S SOME KIND OF PLAN BECAUSE HOLY SHIT. You guys do have to admit that it's strange. Perhaps convenient that 7, a lucky number, is attached to the game that everyone loves, and that 13, an unlucky number, is attached to a game that's not that good at all. And that this happens alongside a conflict in another game between those two numbers... it's just really weird.
SEVEN and THIRTEEN.

I never put much stock in luck, but holy crap.
