I noticed critical mode wasn't listed when i first started playing... -_- Is there something you have to do in order to unlock it? if so, plz let me know

Critical Mode began with Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix. They nearly added one for Re:Chain of Memories but for unknown reasons decided not too.

That's true, the first game didn't have Critical Mode. It didn't even call Proud Mode Proud Mode back then. It was just called "Hard."

(And yes, I know the Final Mix is different from the original, but not by much for that one).

No. The original version had Normal and Expert. The Final Mix version has Final Mix: Beginner, Final Mix and Final Mix: Proud.
