PS3 shut down by itself with a yellow flash?

Posted

My PS3 is one of the odl version, the oen that allows us to use PS2 games, it's 1 year old with me. It's 2. Hand but it was rarely sued by its old owner...

I spent so much hours on my PS3 and early today ti shut by itself... and doesn't let me take off the disck that doesn't belongs to me... and yes to my cousin!

I've reasearched about this and the every single topic says that there's no way to get my Saves back or anything... I got so many important saves. So many hours put on games... everything's lost for good, now?

And NO, I can't send it to Sony to be repaired...

Well, your saves are not gone. But your PS3 definitely is. Get a new old PS3, since I don't think the slims or super slims use th same harddrives, but they probably do, so go ahead and get a slim. I'm even less sure about the superslim though. Open up your PS3, extract the hard drive, and put it in another system. If your friend has an original PS3 he'd let your borrow, you can do it that way and copy all your saves to a flash drive. You can also get your lost disc out this way. It will void your warranty, if you still have it, but I don't think you're worried about a warranty at this point. You can look up a tutorial on opening PS3s, since it's not a simple task. You could probably even fix it this way, but that's highly unlikely.

actually when you put the hard drive into a different ps3 it has to format it. the only real way to keep the saves safe is to be a ps+ member

Send it to Sony.

Then my other suggestion would be to connect it to a PC and extract the saves that way. Other than that, I have no idea.

"In the cloud"? That makes no sense! Can't I put the save files on my PC?

the cloud is putting save data on the internet that you can access at any time. the save data could've been transferred while your ps3 still worked
