I'm having trouble fighting him, he just hurts me so hard. Just incase anyone doesn't know which battle, its the one right after you beat Darkside and you have to fight him again with the guardian except by yourself. I picked Rod and gave up the sword. I'm also level 52. Can someone tell me how to survive well enough?

Lol, thanks to the Guardian path, Proud's like a piece of cake for me. I feel like I'm playing Beginner here.

 

In the beginning I regretted the decision of picking Rod.

Then after I got Cure and Donald and Goofy I absolutely loved it.

Then during Malificent's 1st battle, Ansem-Riku's battle and battling Ansem I regretted it once more.

If you plan on leveling up to beat him go fight Leon and Yuffie over and over...that's what I'm doing...they give you almost 2000 Exp each time you beat them

Yep you can damage him with aurora. Is also helpfull for defending.

I've played him twice recently and the first time I got destroyed and the second time I had about 1/4 of a bar of HP left for him and he took me out. From what I am reading the key is having lots of ethers on hand so you can cast cure on yourself (I was also casting aero on myself). I was also reading that glide and dodge roll can be especially helpful. When I played him recently I was on level 50. I'm just focusing on leveling up more so I can take his butt out. I think I hurt myself when I kept using the sonic blade which took up a lot of MP but I don't think did a whole lot of damage. I also read Ars Arcanum is also a good ability to have on board.
