Why didn't they add Critical mode in Re:CoM?

Posted

I remember hearing back in 2009 that there is some data on the PS2 version for Critical mode. So I'm wondering why didn't they go through with it and add it on the PS2 version? Why didn't they add it to the PS3 version? I'm not complaining I'd hate to play through it on Critical mode I'm just interested.

Maybe of time constraints?or maybe they couldn't balance it out or something or they could of been saving that mode for kh 2 FM?I dunno.Too bad though, would of been nice to be able to play re com on critical mode.

cus kids these days are obviously pussys and cant handle a challenge(sarcasm)

"How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop? The world may never know."

Well, with frustraoting, extremely outdated controls and the fact the game is a labyrinth-map style with action RPG elements made it frustraiting to play. The game itself is just too annoying to play through unless you want the story, which its basicly only good for. So why would they ad a Crit mode to a a game no one liked? It only adds unnecessary and annoying time spent in it just to clear the game 100 percent. If it were less of a chore, like KHFM, we would have been more or less fine with it and the mode implemented.

I chose Beginner this time, so I don't care that it wasn't added.

Fool. I think if you can get through Proud actually using cards effectively (or any difficulty for that matter) then Critical wouldn't be too different.

Dude, ALOT OF PEOPLE LIKE THE CARD SYSTEM. It adds more strategy to the game and i feel it makes it better then the other games in a good way. I wouldve loved a critical mode, i wished they wouldve added it.

I never insulted the Card system, but the controls for it are outdated and flawed, and quite infuriating, I might add, so that's what I meant.

How exactly are they flawed?

They're pretty easily used. Sure its not the normal "MASH X AND TRIANGLE TO WIN ALL THE TIME" setup, it actually adds strategy to the game. BUt for those of us who've played the original, it's pretty easy to adjust to and use honestly. Just because it doesnt work well for you doesnt mean its as hard to use for everyone else.

What I mean is that the way the system itself works. In battle, in order to lock onto another enemy, you have to unlock then relock and hope you locked on correctly. If you miss with a sleight, or if your enemy is airborn and you make a single mistake, you're loosing the first card in that sleight unless you have a Hi-Potion. You can't strike Airborn enemy's with some basic sleights, at times, and you can loose because of luck, as this happens with any card VS card system. Out of battle, you can't lock onto elements in the field, making it difficult to try and get the first shot in. The door system can be infuriating at times with the number values needed. Prime example, you need 30 of red just to get into this next room, which is a little, IMO, ridiculous. You never see treasure chests that spawn naturally, you always force a room to synthesize a treasure chest, and that's not quite as fun. Moogles never appear in rooms randomly either, making the game rather boring when it comes to gameplay because there's no "Ah ha! I found this!" moments, it's just "Oh, well... I guess we use a Moogle card now, even though it doesn't really matter.". And ths shop itself is flawed. You can't purchase specific cards. I mean, why not just let me select an Olympia or a Lady Luck if I want it? Those are things that bother me, as a gamer, you may have a different opinion, but this one's mine and it's special.

Also, after you get Sonic Blade, you never use anything else to fight, because you just spam it till the enemy dies :P

Ok about the Lock on, that's true, it couldve been better. I just prefer to not use sleights all that much until i get like Mega Flare and SOnic Blade and Ars Arcanum, i mainly use my friend cards as the first cards in my sleights so they get wasted instead, since they'll dissapear anyway.

Its not that hard to get the first strike in on the overworld, you just gotta make sure you're not to close so you dont end up running into the enemy before you hit it with the keyblade.

The numbers needed for some doors are a bit ridiculous but with rooms like "ROULETTE ROOM", you can easily farm many cards easily out of battle. And i think its fun to have cards to get treasure chests. If you have ROULETTE ROOM CARDS, you can easily get treasure cards and more roulette room cards.

True, the moogle thing couldve been better planned out.

I think Ars Arcanum is better to beat the shit out of bosses then sonic blade, as you deal more hits and more damage, plus you can use 3 cards of the same type. So you can just use Kingdom Key cards all the way to spam Ars Arcanum. :)
